Prologue: Big, White, Fluffy Sheep
Home....am I home?
These are what Bailey thought the newborn sheep was thinking. The little lamb had only been alive for a few hours, but it already looked like it was ready to walk.
"Bailey! Come inside, its lunchtime." Their mother beckoned to them, her wispy hair fluttering around her shoulders.
'Darn. I wanted to talk to the sheep more.' Bailey thought to themselves.
"Bailey. Now please."
"Coming Mama!" Bailey got up from the pen, dusted off her overalls, and walked inside.
Inside the house were pictures of the family. Baby photos of them were all over, and some new additions were there as well. Now that their little brother was starting toddler age, they had all the baby photos they were gonna get, and now it was time for toddler photos.
"Bailey? Come here darling." Their father's voice was loud and brassy, but always warm and soft. He was a kind man, with graying brown hair that was always in a bun. He always wore a tunic, with a random pair of jeans.
"Yes papa?" Bailey walked over to him.
"Here, I made you this." He handed them a small wooden sheep, which was glossy and smooth to the touch. "It's a little sheep toy. I thought you might like it, so that wherever and whenever we move, you have something to remember home with." He grinned.
"Wow papa! It's beautiful!" They giggled, flipping it over in their hands. The initials "B.O'C" were etched into one of the hooves. "What are these letters for..?"
Their father chuckled. "Those are your initials, the first letters of your first and last name."
"Wow!" They exclaimed. They loved this dear toy, and they would cherish it forever. They gave him a hug, then went to go grab a sandwich from their mother.
"What's this?" Their mother asked.
"Its my sheep! Their name is....." They paused, and looked at her father's eyes.
"...Periwinkle! Papa made it for me!"
"Oh did he now? Well you better take good care of it." Their mother laughed.
"Uh-huh! I'm gonna keep it forever!"
Little did they know that, not only was that true, but it would be the last thing their father would make.
