chapter one: the end of the beginning.

Parties of great warriors could be seen making their way towards a massive tomb in the distance.

However their Trek was interrupted by hordes of skeletons.

The warriors fought valiantly and together against the forces of the undead, fighting valiantly and victoriously.

But they were stopped in their tracks, as a group of extremely powerful figures emerged from the tomb.

Without any effort at all, the warriors, all of them, were dead...

[In the present]

In a mysterious room, with a massive table in the middle, surrounded by a great many chairs, three figures talked to each other.

One of the figures, a humanoid slime-like creature begin to speak. "Hey there, it's been a while hasn't it, Momonga? Shenron?" The slime beast spoke as the second figure, a tall and imposing skeleton, began to speak as well.

"Sure has, to be honest Herohero, I didn't think you'd come. you've been gone a couple of years."

The skeleton spoke in a kind and warm tone, as if he was seeing an old friend for the first time in a long time.

The slime creature, Or Herohero spoke once more. "No way, it's really been that long? Man... I guess I've been working so much my concept of time is out of whack." The creature spoke as the third figure, a blue humanoid slightly shorter than the skeleton, began to speak.

"Sheesh man, really sorry about that. I hope you're doing well!" The blue humanoid spoke as the slime looked a bit startled, before then speaking a bit more. "Thanks for caring about me Shenron, I swear, with each passing day I feel more and more like how my Avatar looks." Herohero said, sounding exhausted.

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have come here just to complain." The slime monster said as Momonga and Shenron responded "please don't worry about it!/No worries man!" The duo spoke as the slime spoke once more. "Well I better go soon, I'm beyond exhausted!" He explained as the duo wished have a good rest. "Right... Rest up and feel better." Momonga said as Shenron was silent and stared at the table.

"Wish I could stay longer, but, I've got to say. I'm kind of shocked to see the great tomb of Nazarick still standing, being Guild Leader Suited you Momonga. You've done a great job maintaining the place." Herohero spoke as Momonga responded. "Well, we created this place together, I couldn't just let it go to dust." He answered.

"Must have been hard work, thanks for everything. And you, Shenron right? You've grown so much from the rookie that had joined us from way back when, I hope we all meet again IRL." The slime spoke one final time before leaving once more.

A message then popped up in front of both Shenron and Momonga. 'Herohero has logged out.'

"Today is the last day Yggdrasil's Servers will be online, why not stay? We could reminisce and light till everything shuts down... For...Good... Hugh..." The skeleton said, but it was a little too late that's the slime monster had already left.

"Oh well, I'm happy that he even came at all, Right Shenron?" The skeleton spoke as the blue humanoid answered back. "Indeed, everyone else has already left... Still... It hurts." The Dragon spoke as Momonga slammed his fist on the table and spoke.

"This sucks! This is our home, that we built with our own virtual blood and sweat! How could everyone just abandon it like that!" He called out as a blue hand touched his shoulder. "It's okay man, you still got me! I'm here for you." The dragon spoke as the skeleton began to speak back. "Thanks Shenron. I know they didn't abandon us, it's not their fault, real life called them and they answered. They had their own responsibilities and lives to follow. It just stings, you know?" The skeleton explained.

The two then walked over towards a weapon floating in a hole in the wall. "Do you remember this weapon?" Momonga questioned as Shenron held out their hand towards the weapon. "The staff of Ainz Ooal Gown, the weapon representing our guild, right? I remember we had poured so much time and effort, and even real-world cash, into getting the materials!" Shenron spoke with a laugh at the end.

The room was silent for a moment As Momonga spoke up. "That's right, Haha... Hey, it's the last day, so I want you to have this, even if it's just for a little." Momonga spoke gently as a message appeared in front of Shenron. 'Shenron has been made, Guild leader.'

Shenron looked at the elder lich, with confusion. "I don't... I don't understand?" Momonga then started to speak up. "It's the last day, why not give you such to enjoy in our final moments?" The skeleton asked as he then handed the golden staff to Shenron.

A confused dragon then nodded his head in understanding. "Well come on then." He explained as the two of them begin to walk down a hallway.

They were startled to see a group of maids and a butler awaiting in the hallway.

"I had completely forgotten about these guys, Sebas and the combat maids, right?" Momonga asked as Shenron nodded. Shenron then spoke. "They were intended to be the last line of defense for the throne room, unfortunately no players ever got this far. So they eventually wound up just standing here, collecting virtual dust." The humanoid explained as They then commanded the maids and Sebas to follow.

"The others won't be mad at me for doing whatever I want today, right?" Shenron asked as Momonga chuckled. "I don't think they will, it is after all the final day of the servers being online, so please, do as you wish!" Momonga explained as the group walked down the hallway and into the throne room.

Eventually, they finally reached the throne itself. "Standby" Momonga commanded as Shenron looked at the throne. "You know, seeing as your guild leader now, you can do anything you want, that includes sitting on the Throne.

Shenron then noticed a third figure right next to them.

"That's Albedo Right? What are her settings again?" Shenron asked as he was about to look at her settings as Momonga then stopped him. "I can explain, you don't have to look at her settings you know?" Momonga said quickly and hastily, distracting Shenron from looking at the settings.

"The one who keeps order amongst all of the floor guardians, he's kind of their leader." Momonga Explained as mentally sighed, thanking his lucky stars that Shenron didn't see the settings of the character.

"Bow down." Commanded Momonga as the NPCs kneeled before Him and Shenron.

The Duo begin to talk and reminisce until something odd happened.

"Hmmm? What's this, the grounds shaking?!" Momonga started to speak before immediately logging out, leaving Shenron confused.

Momonga, or the person that played Momonga looked around confused as is whole gaming setup had been turned off.

The ground slightly rumbled and shook as the whole room started to shake violently. "Oh crap! An earthquake!" Momonga questioned panicked.

"Well, at least Shenron... No... Y/n didn't see the surprise I left him 2 weeks ago." Momonga said with a laugh as he quickly left his room and got to a safe area.

Back in Yggdrasil, Shenron sat down on the throne quietly. He was confused as to what had happened. "Momonga? Why did he leave? It must have been another earthquake." Shenron whispered to himself as he watched the counter in the corner of his HUD. "Well, I'll see you all later I guess." Shenron spoke once more as he waited for the timer to finish and the game to close.

Alas, something odd happened...

(Strange, did the developers push back server shutdown?) Shenron thought to herself as she raised her hand and tried to activate the GM call feature, in order to see what had happened.

Only to find out that when he tried to activate the feature, nothing happened.

"What's happening?" Shenron questioned as Albedo started to speak. "Is something wrong Lady Shenron?" Albedo questioned as Shenron looked down at the bowing succubus, who then spoke once more.

"Lady Shenron?"
