Chapter Sixty

Nelson's PoV

One moment I was fighting off a cyclops while avoiding being captured by another one, the next moment, Bob swooped me off the ground and ran while Lethe flooded the banks of her river. I watched as the cyclopses and a few other monsters that had joined them got their memories wiped. While the monsters were laying on the ground in a daze, I looked around and saw that Bob had also picked up Annie, and Damasan had Nico and Gab. Bob and Damasan put us down when the water receded.

"I suppose we better get going. These won't be the only monsters Tartarus will send after us, and I have to rewatch a couple of shows because I forgot what happened." I spun around, and Lethe was standing behind us, enveloped in a soft white glow.

"Thanks for helping us, Lethe," Annie said with a slight smile.

She shrugged. "You will be able to give me Netflix again right?" She asked suspiciously.

"Yes, we can do that if we all get out of here alive and close the rift," Annie assured her.

"Speaking of the rift, we still don't know where that is," I pointed out.

"I think I do," Nico said quietly, staring at the ground.

We all turned to him expectantly. "Where do you think it is, Nico?" Gab pressed when he didn't answer.

He looked up at us with a troubled expression. "Since we got here, I've felt a sort of pull on anything living or dead, and it's only gotten stronger the deeper we travel into Tartarus. The general direction we've been going is toward the heart. I think it's at the heart of Tartarus."

"That's great! Now we know where it is, and we don't have to go all over Tartarus looking for it!" I said encouragingly.

"Hopefully the Doors of Death are there too. Then we wouldn't have to wander around for eternity trying to find them." Gab said.

Nico shook his head. "Even if the Doors are there, that's not great news. Tartarus is strongest at the heart. His greatest chance of killing us is there."

"Well, I'm all for a good death," I said. "Who's with me?"

Nico just shook his head in irritation and mumbled something none of us could hear.

"If we're going to the heart, we don't have all day," Damasan said. "You all get on the drakon. We have a lot of traveling ahead of us."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We had been walking (or riding) for what felt like a few hours. Every so often, one of us would have to remind Lethe where we were going, what we were doing, and what we promised her in return for helping us. Nico was growing more irritated every time we had to remind her and more stressed the longer we were away from Will without knowing what was happening to him. Annie was fiddling with her bow out of nervous anticipation. Gab was still mumbling to zeirself, trying to figure out whatever had been bothering em when ze woke up. Bob and Damasan were leading the way and conversing quietly. Lethe trailed slightly behind them. We were all on edge with the same unspoken feeling.
This was going to be our last battle, and none of us might make it out alive.
Damasan and Bob stopped abruptly, and we all looked up at them in confusion. "We're here," Bob said.
The other demigods and I climbed off the drakon and walked over next to them. We were on top of a purple reddish hill that was pulsating slightly, looking down at a sea of monsters. In the distance was a small black hole thing floating above the ground. "This, is the grossest most terrifying thing I have ever seen." I said.
"The ground is... oh my gods... it's literally a heart." Annie almost vomited.
"No, I thought it was a literal rock," Gab rolled zeir eyes, but ze didn't look like ze was doing very well either.
"Why are we here again?" Lethe asked.
I put my hand on Nico's shoulder to try and calm him because his eye began to twitch. "We have to get through the crowd of monsters without being seen or remembered. That way we can find Hades and Will, close the rift, and get back to the mortal world where you can watch Netflix any time you want." I said.
"Oh, so you need me to make the monsters forget about us?" The goddess asked.
"Yes," Nico said through gritted teeth. "Now are we just going to stand here and discuss this, or are we going to go and finish this?"
No one answered. Instead, we silently made our way down the hill and into the swarm of enemies.
What's this? An actual update? What even is an update anymore?
I know I know, I'm terrible, but I'm trying. I'm sorry this chapter isn't very interesting. It's just a filler. This story is starting to wind down now though. Thank you all for reading this even though it's kind of a pile of junk. I don't even know what I'm doing with it anymore.
You all have been amazing, and I really appreciate you guys sticking with me through the story. Thank you all so much for everything. The comments, the votes, everything. I love you all so much.
Last thing. Now that we are almost at the final battle, what do you guys think? Who is going to sacrifice themselves to close the rift?
THANK YOU ALL FOR 2K VIEWS AND I HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A GOOD NIGHT OR DAY!!
