Chapter Fifteen

Nelson's PoV

Stupid lasagna giant. Annie may not have realized it, but when the giant broke her arm, she let out a stream of curse words and some unflattering comments about giants made of lasagna noodles. It wasn't too hard to guess what she was talking about, and I have to say I quite agree with her. All the giant did was barely bump one of its hands into my side, and I crashed to the ground in pain. I don't know why I couldn't get up. I was still fully conscious all the way up until Ari blasted the giant with an army of skeletons. After that, things turned a little fuzzy. I kept going in and out of consciousness, so I didn't really understand the things that were going on around me. Some how, two boys appeared, had a sort of argument with each other and Annie, and gave Ari something to drink even though she was asleep.

Like I said, I had no idea what had happened. Maybe I just dreampt all of that.

Anyway, one of the boys had come up to me and tried to press something against my chest. I flinched in pain, and the boy felt my sides. The pain was unbearable. I felt like screaming and puking at the same time, but I couldn't do anything. I felt myself starting to slip back into unconsciousness as the boy called out to someone. Someone grabbed my shoulders, and then everything went black.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"This... Amazing... Beautiful... Possible?"
"Greek and Roman gods... Children... Demigods... Monsters."
As I started regaining consciousness, I heard random bits and pieces of conversation around me, but none of it made sense. Especially the second voice's reply. Greek and Roman gods? Demigods? Monsters? What was this person talking about? However, I guess I have a more pressing matter to think about. Where was I, and what happened?
Slowly, I started remembering the fight in the forest. The lasagna monster had knocked me down, and two boys arrived. One of them touched my ribs, and I heroically passed out. Well, from the sounds of it, it looks like someone killed Mr. Pasta. I just hoped the others weren't dead.
After a few minutes, I was finally able to open my eyes. I tried to sit up, but a pair of strong hands pushed me back down on... When did I get in a bed? I started panicking and tried to sit up again, but the hands kept me on the bed. "Relax. It's okay we'll explain everything. I promise, but right now you need to lay down or else you are going to pop some of your stitches."
I looked up and saw that a tall blonde boy with intense sky blue eyes in doctor's scrubs was the one who spoke to me. He couldn't have been more than 15. Why was he wearing a doctor's uniform? He slowly took his hands away from me, and when I didn't try to get up again, he gave a little sigh of relief and sat down in a chair in between my bed and another bed. I looked at the occupant in the other bed and gasped. Gab was sitting up right with a neutral expression on zeir face. Ze must have been up a lot longer than I was, but zeir guard was up to the maximum. I hadn't seen em look that guarded since I first stumbled into the clearing. I wondered if ze had told the blonde guy zeir name yet or not.
"You're awake! Finally!" A girl's voice exclaimed. I turned around and saw Annie running toward me. "You guys won't believe it! This place is amazing!"
"Woah woah woah woah. Slow down. First of all, where are we?" I asked, pinching the bridge of my nose in an attempt to keep a migraine at bay.
"We're at a place called Camp Half Blood," the blonde boy explained. "It's one of the only two safe havens for demigods. That's what you guys are."
Before he could continue, I made a time out gesture with my hands. My building migraine was not going away. "What do you mean by demigods? What is that supposed to mean?"
The blonde opened his mouth to speak, but surprisingly, Gab beat him to it. "He means we're half mortal human and half god. One of our parents are one of the Greek gods aren't they? That's why we've been getting attacked by Greek monsters. I wanted to explain that theory to you guys before, but with Ari's melt down and the Laestrygonian attack, there wasn't enough time. That's what I meant when I had said mom."
The blonde looked over at Gab, impressed. "Yeah, one of your parents is a god, but they could be Roman too. How did you manage to figure that out? Most new recruits have no idea why they are here and who they are."
"After being attacked by a few monsters that are only supposed to exist in Greek myths, it kind if becomes obvious," Gab said with a shrug.
"Not really. I mean, who would actually be able to believe readily  that their parent is a millennia old god from ancient Greece or Rome even if they have been attacked by a few monsters? They would mostly be too freaked out about the monsters to care about where they came from. At least, I was." Annie said.
Gab just gave her a confused looked. "It just seemed like the obvious explanation to me. Why wouldn't people try to figure out where the monsters are coming from? I mean, wouldn't you want to know so that you had a better chance at killing them and staying away from them if possible? Also, doesn't it bother you that they only come after a few people and not everyone? Wouldn't you want an explanation?"
"Sure. After I'm done being concerned about actually staying alive, I'll go with you to the library to research on Google Greek monsters that have come to life and started killing people. I'll even help you write a report on it." Annie says sarcastically.
I had to stifle a fit of giggles as Gab rolled zeir eyes and glared at the two of us. Just then, the door burst open, and the blonde jumped to his feet. In walked some of the scariest looking people I had ever seen. It wasn't that they were ugly or scowled like they were going to beat someone up. Okay correction, most of them were not scowling and looking like they were going to beat someone up. The small boy that walked in last had such an intense scowl on his face, I was afraid that he could make the wall implode just by looking at it. Thankfully, his expression softened when he saw something, but I couldn't tell what because he got momentarily lost in the crowd of people that came in.
The rest were talking and laughing, but the reason why they seemed so scary was because of their aura and the way they held themselves. They all basically screamed power, and they were so sure of themselves. Nothing was going to push them down or break them easily. I wish I could have been like them just a few weeks ago. Maybe then I would have a few less bruises on my skin.
They all pulled up chairs and sat down. I counted eleven people in all, including the scowling boy and the boy who was here before in the doctor's scrubs. I looked around at Annie and Gab in shock, but they looked about as comfortable as I felt which is to say not very. I looked back at the new comers, and the blonde girl with grey eyes spoke first.
Good morning guys. I'm sorry I couldn't update more last night. I had a lot of homework I needed to do, but I'm staying hone from school today. I'll be able to write a few more chapters, so stay tuned for that whenever you get out of schoolI hope you have a good day!
