"I swear I hate working out on the field during this time." Mason grumbled.

We all did. There is so much happening on the field, it's almost impossible to practice without stumbling into someone else. That's why the coach let us have a match on the court first, and now we were running laps.

"Okay, that's it for today." The coach yelled from the sidelines, dismissing us.

"Thank the fucking gods!" Noah said and plopped down on the bleachers.

I tried to breathe in as much air as possible as Mason and I followed Noah.

"Oh look," Aiden pointed towards the field.

"Cheer tryouts are going on." Without even looking at them, I could confirm the smirk on half the team's face.

"Damn, we have some hot freshmen this year." Valentino whistled low, looking at the girls.

"Isn't that your sister, Knight?"

"What? Riley doesn't cheer." I said, looking at him incredulously.

"Well, she is doing it right now." I heard Noah chime from beside me.

Turning back to the field, I finally noticed Riley performing a cheer routine in the center of the group that they have formed.

"She's fucking good." Aiden praised.

"And hot."

"That's my fucking sister, Valentino. Back off." I turned to stare at Valentino, not so silently challenging him to even think about her.

"Geez, you are one hell of a protective brother, Knight." Jayden smirked.

"Not only Knight, you fuck around with her and you'll have two more people beating you up." Noah said smiling sweetly at Valentino.

"That's right." Mason said.

I don't want any of these fuckers coming near Riley. She might look cold-hearted from outside, but in actuality, she is a very innocent and pure-hearted person and I don't want any of these assholes fucking her up.

"Looks like the complete trio is trying out." Aiden commented as we all turned around to see Iris taking Riley's place.

She was wearing simple yoga pants and a sports bra, but damn, those yoga pants are probably the most lethal thing ever.

Her ass looks amazing in that.

As if feeling my gaze on her, she turned around, and our eyes instantly met. She looked kind of surprise to see me. Instead of making some vile gestures that would totally represent the thoughts circling my mind, I simply smiled at her. Smiling in reply, she turned around to start her routine.

Those moves would totally turn me on if I wasn't already turned on by her yoga pants.

Damn those pants and that ass.

It was like my eyes had a brain of their own; they were following all her movements. Walking away from the center, panting, she moved towards Riley and Dani.

"Are you even listening?" Mason asked, shaking my shoulder.

"Of course, I am listening." I totally wasn't.

"Well, then you are coming, right?" Noah asked, smirking.

"Yeah, definitely." I nodded to maintain the act.

"Cool then." I did not know what the fuck did I just sign up for.

Ignoring them again, I looked around the field in search of a familiar brunette, but she was nowhere in sight. Riley and Dani were still here, though.

"I think I'm going to go now." Noah announced standing up.

"Yeah, I'll come." I joined him. It's only the first day of college and somehow, I already have two assignments to do, agreed they weren't due until next Monday, but the earlier I get it done, the harder I can party on the weekend.

"I'll join you guys in a while." Mason said nonchalantly.

"Of course, we'll see you once you've told Dani how good she was out there." I teased him, smirking.

We all knew he was dying to talk to Dani after Sunday. These two were awfully cozy throughout the IKEA trip and the movie night, but we all are silently rooting for these two to get together because the chemistry is pretty clear.

Instead of lying or denying it, Mason simply shook his head and walked towards Dani, likely realizing it was useless to hide it anymore.

"Let's go." Noah said, chuckling.

"Yeah, you go ahead, I have to get my bag from the locker room." I said, nodding towards the locker rooms.

"Okay, cool. I'll wait for you in the car."

"Here, take the keys." Pulling out the keys from my pocket, I gave them to Noah.

Walking towards the locker room, I had all kinds of thoughts running in my mind, but all of them vanished as I caught sight of a familiar blue-eyed brunette, just when I was about to walk inside the locker room.

It took me a moment to decide whether or not to approach her. My brain was yelling at me to not approach her because she is my sister's friend and roommate and I would be stupid to deny the attraction I feel for her and approaching her while we are alone together is not the smartest idea, but being the idiot I am, I did the complete opposite.

Walking forward, I looked around for her, finally finding her by the water fountain. She was still wearing the same clothes, and that did nothing to help when she bent down to drink the water.

"I never knew you were the cheerleading type." I said announcing my presence, half expecting her to jump and shriek, startled by my voice, but I guess it was safe to say none of that happened.

"And I never knew you were the stereotyping type." She said turning around and cleaning her mouth with the back of her hand softly. There were drops of sweat dripping down her neck which traveled down her throat and chest only to disappear inside her sports bra.

"I probably shouldn't have said that." I said, realizing my mistake. Way to go, Ethan.

"Yeah, you probably shouldn't have." She said laughing softly.

"Sorry." I said, shaking my head.

"Oh, it's okay. What are you doing here, anyway?" She asked, cocking an eyebrow.

"I came to drink water." I said the first thing that came to my mind, completely forgetting about the water bottle I was holding in my hand.

"Right. Of course." She said smirking, glancing at the bottle in my hand.

"It's empty." I said quickly to cover up.

"Sure. I believe you." She said innocently, but the enormous smile on her face told me she knew I was lying.

"Why else would I be here?" I said smiling myself.

"Yeah, it's definitely not like you saw me coming here and wanted to talk to me, right?" She said cheekily.

She knows how to play around with this and only if she wasn't my sister's friend, I would kiss the fucking hell out of her right now for being so cheekily sexy.

"No, it definitely isn't that." I played along.

"Well then, don't let me stop you. Fill your water bottle." She said side-stepping.

"I would, but I don't really feel thirsty anymore." I replied, shrugging.

"Huh? I wonder why." She said rolling her eyes.

"You were great out there." I complimented her genuinely once we established that the play was over and I was really grateful to her for not actually mentioning my lie blatantly.

"Thank you." She smiled and for the first time since I met her, I saw Iris blush, and hell, it was probably one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. The crimson color spread all over her face, making her look like the most innocent person ever.

"Yeah..."

"I gotta go, the girls are waiting." She said gesturing to the field.

"Okay. I'll see you later."

"I'll see you when I see you." She said smiling.

Just when I thought she was actually about to go, she stopped beside me, rising to her toes, and whispered, "Remember to empty the bottle before you use it as an excuse next time."

Fuck!

She probably just took one step ahead when I caught her wrist to pull her back to me and spun her around, causing her to stumble into my chest. I didn't know why I did it, but I couldn't help it.

She looked up at me, her hands clutching my t-shirt for support while I held onto her waist to prevent her from falling but the fact that my hand was touching her bare skin sent shocks right through my arm. I could see the lightest of blush blossoming on her cheeks and nose with her eyes wide open in surprise.

"What are you doing?" She asked in a soft voice.

"I don't know." I replied honestly.

I could feel the spark crackling between us as we stared into each other's eyes. I shouldn't be doing this because first, it'll complicate everything, and second, Riley would kill me for fucking her friend and complicating their friendship for them.

Despite all of those thoughts, I found myself leaning towards her. Before I closed my own eyes, I saw her closing her eyes, expecting me to kiss her. Her hands on my shirt tightened in anticipation.

I could already feel her lips on mine when, "Where the fucking hell are you, Knight?"

Fucking Noah.

Like his voice broke the trance we were in, Iris snapped her eyes open and we pulled away from each other like the other one was on fire.

"Um.. I think Noah's looking for you." She said to clear the awkwardness before taking a few steps back.

"Yeah... Uh, I think I should go." I cleared my throat.

"Yeah. Me too." She turned around in a swift motion and was out of my sight before I could even count to ten.

"Oh, there you are!" Noah exclaimed, coming into my view.

"Here I am." I grumbled.

"Where the hell did you vanish to? No, wait, better question! I just came across Iris and she looked so fucking red. Did you meet her, you know, because she was coming from the same direction and everything?" Noah asked curiously.

"Yeah, we talked, but I don't know what you're talking about?"

"Okay, but why the hell do you look so flustered? Wait a minute, wait a fucking minute! Did you guys...?" Noah said, on the verge of yelling.

"What? NO!" I exclaimed.

"Did you at least kiss?" Noah asked hopefully.

"Why are you behaving like one of those sorority girls looking for gossip?" I asked incredulously and starting walking towards the locker room to take the thing I actually came looking for.

"Yeah, not so subtle, Knight. Not subtle at all." Noah said laughing at my poor attempt to throw the attention off of me and followed me.
