"tyler, what the fuck!" debby whisper yelled.

"what?" tyler said sipping the iced coffee his best friend had bought him.

"you never knew you were a hybrid? well, i mean, it takes time, but damn! youre a really late bloomer."

"oh, right haha." tyler looked around the café in search for someone he thought he should recognize. ever since he arrived he felt as though someone was watching him.

he sighed out loudly. "lets go back, debs."

debby held the door open for her best friend. she sensed something was wrong, but she couldnt really tell what. and she wasnt the type to pry into a problem. she just wasn't like that.

as soon she and tyler got halfway back to josh and jenna, a wave of shock came over him. he saw debby yelling his name but he could only hear a calming and familiar voice of a boy, calling his name, whispering pretty nonsense into his ear.

tyler closed his eyes, trying to get rid of the voice, but instead, an image of what he assumed was the disembodied voice popped up in his mind.
it was jordan. he was sitting in the darkness. next to josh.

he sucked in a quick breath and started panting as if he had been sprinting.

"tyler, what's wrong?" he was finally able to hear what debby was saying.

but tyler didnt answer. he waved his arms around instead and tried to search for something to give him balance.
debby had ducked under his arm and wrapped hers around tyler's waist. she called over jenna and josh who seemed a bit concerned for the boy.

they knew what was going on. but this had happened to them when they were younger. they didn't know what to do with someone who awakened later in their life.
