Chapter 3
Chapter 3
●●●
In the end he did not tell Hoseok about what had happened. Mainly because he was certain that his best friend was going to try and stop him from meeting Jungkook... and Jimin wasn't going to let that happen. He was set on making Jungkook his friend no matter what Hobi was going to say... but in order to prevent him from worrying he wasn't going to tell him.
At least until he knew Jungkook well enough to be completely certain that he wasn't dangerous. Jimin really doubted he was, but better safe than sorry. Well, actually Jimin really wasn't playing safe... just not telling his friend.
Before going to bed he quickly sent Jungkook a short message. The other answered almost immediately and Jimin had to really stop himself from making any happy noises that might have made Hobi suspicious.
Jimin
I'm looking forward to tomorrow!
Jimin
Also thanks for earlier again
Jimin
You really saved me
Jungkook
I didn't do anything
Jungkook
And I look forward to tomorrow too:)
Jimin
You totally did do something
Jimin
You could have just ignored it you know
Jungkook
That's called being decent
Jimin
Stop acting like it's nothing and accept my gratitude!
Jimin
Where do you want to meet up tomorrow?
Jungkook
How about in front of the school building?
Jungkook
And then we could walk to whatever cafe you wanna go to
Jimin
Any place you want to go?
Jimin didn't even get the chance to put his phone away because Jungkook was answering again. Jimin imagined him lying in his bed, waiting for Jimin's messages and couldn't help but smile.
Jungkook
Not really
Jungkook
I don't usually go to cafés
Jimin
Why? If you don't like coffee we could go somewhere else too
Jungkook
No I really like coffee
Jungkook
Just don't wanna make ppl uncomfortable
For a couple of seconds Jimin was confused what exactly Jungkook meant with uncomfortable, then he realized that Jungkook was probably right. With this many bad things you heard on the news and from other people it was no surprise that when Jungkook entered a coffee shop people might be feeling weird about it.
Though Jimin was just a bit too selfish for this to actually make him care. If he were in Jungkook's place he probably would have just started going there more often as a sign of protest.
Jimin
That's their problem
Jimin
We're gonna enjoy our day tomorrow <3
Jungkook
:)
Jimin had expected people to stare... but he hadn't expected them to stare that much. Jungkook's eyes weren't even that noticeable and he looked totally normal aside from them... well, maybe more attractive than the average guy (by quite a bit), but still normal.
But even then Jimin felt like everyone around them had gone quiet, the chatter dying down and leaving only the noises of the waitresses working the machines behind the counter.
"Is this normal?" Jimin asked, leaning closer to Jungkook, who didn't even seem to be thinking about it.
"Kind of." Jungkook admitted, glancing around just to find everyone avoiding his eyes. "Pretty much standard actually."
"Wow, that's shitty." Jimin admitted, glaring at a guy who had totally just been making mean comments to his friends.
"You get used to it." Before Jimin could say anything else the girls in front of them finished ordering and it was Jimin's turn. So instead of answering immediately he started giving his order before turning to Jungkook, who ordered a piece of cake and coffee latte. The woman taking his order kept glancing around between him and Jimin, apparently confused, but she didn't make a comment, instead just acting like nothing had happened as Jimin paid.
Jungkook thanked him for the food as they finally found a desk in one of the corners of the room to sit by. "Don't sweat it. It's still a sign of gratitude." Jimin stated, smiling before taking a sip of his own hot chocolate. For some reason he was more in the mood for something sweet.
"Thank you." Jungkook smiled before hiding his face behind his mug, which almost looked small in his hands. If Jimin wasn't imagining things there was the softest blush showing on his cheeks.
"You can say no if you don't want to, but I'm kind of curious so I have to ask..." Jimin began and Jungkook brought the mug back down, watching him expectantly. "What of the things that are being said about your... kind are true and what isn't? Because I'm going to be honest, I really haven't done that much research in the past because I've never really talked to someone like you."
Jungkook nodded, looking to the side, like he was searching for the right words. Jimin suddenly realized that the tables around them suddenly seemed to have cleared up and while all the other seats in the cafe were taken, the ones surrounding them were for the most part empty. He had to bite back a huff.
"Well, I mean, I guess you know the most basic stuff about how like three generations ago some 'aliens' showed up here, looking exactly like humans but not actually human. Then there was this huge mess because some humans got eaten, but my kind didn't want to leave because they had nowhere else to go since our planet doesn't exist anymore. A bunch of politics happened and now we live here officially, just as normal as you..." Jungkook sipped from his drink, looking down at the table.
Jimin nodded. "Yeah, that I know. But what is actually true about, like, your generation... There are a bunch of campfire horror stories going around about how you guys still eat humans."
Jungkook snorted, which Jimin took as a sign that that was bullshit. "Could you?"
"Well, I guess theoretically I could." Jungkook shrugged his shoulders and for some weird reason Jimin really didn't feel even the tiniest bit anxious from that. More so curious.
"How so?" Had he really just asked that question? He hoped Jungkook wasn't going to assume he was some sort of creep.
"First of, if you wanted to you could eat a human." Jungkook chuckled, nodding in Jimin's direction. Fair enough. "And second, we do have pretty sharp teeth and overall just... stronger bodies, I guess." Jimin wasn't quite sure if Jungkook seemed uncomfortable talking about this, so he simply decided to make sure Jungkook knew that he didn't have to talk about this.
"In case you're uncomfortable talking about this, I really mean it when I say you don't have to. I'm curious, but I wouldn't be angry if you didn't tell me. I'm not really worried about you either way." He offered, watching happily as Jungkook seemed to relax a bit again.
"No, it's okay. I get that you're curious... I'm actually kind of curious as well, so I'll ask you some questions later too but for now just go ahead and ask." Jungkook offered back, leaning forward.
"Okay..." For a couple of seconds Jimin thought about what to ask. "How often do you talk to humans... I mean actual talking, not just short interactions."
Jungkook moved around for a bit, almost nervous. "Actually this is pretty much my first time... I mean, I've talked to people before... like teachers, but other than that, especially people around my age, kind of never." He hid his face behind his mug again before sending Jimin the most adorable awkward smile Jimin had ever seen. "I'm going to be honest... I'm pretty hyped about getting to know someone new. I have friends but because of what I am they are all guys I've known all my life. You're the first person I've just accidentally talked to..."
"Awwwww. You're the first guy of your kind I've ever talked to though... although I doubt that's nearly as special." Jimin giggled, crossing his legs as he leant forward.
"You seem pretty cool with it."
"I'm going to be honest. I was terrified when I saw you... for like ten seconds. But you're really cute so that didn't last long."
Okay, Jungkook was totally blushing. He was now certain of that. There was no way to hide it now that his mug was empty. Jimin couldn't help but grin. So far, Jungkook was everything but scary.
"Glad you think so." The still blushing boy said after a couple of seconds, focusing on eating his slice of cake afterwards.
"I think I'm done with my questions for now... I know there weren't that many, but honestly my main concern was 'do you eat humans' and now that that is out of the way I can rest assured." He chuckled. "So, wanna talk about something else?"
Jungkook straightened his back. "Uhm, could I ask questions now?" Jimin could practically see his nervousness.
"Go ahead." Jimin finished his hot chocolate too, pushing the empty cup away from himself.
"Okay... what is going to school like for you?" Wow, that was normal. The question was odd, but Jimin answered it nevertheless.
"Sometimes stressful. Sometimes annoying, but it can also be pretty nice because I see some people I wouldn't have the energy to hang out with outside of school." He stated and Jungkook nodded, looking oddly fascinated. Like what Jimin had told him just now was pretty new.
"What is your family like? Do you have siblings?"
"Ufff... I'm an only child, but do have a bunch of cousins. My parents are sweet, but they can be a bit overprotective at times."
"What does your day usually look like? Do you come to places like this often?" Suddenly Jimin wondered how different things might be for Jungkook. What did his family look like? What was school like for him? And what did his day look like that he was this curious about Jimin's?
"Usually school till noon, sometimes a bit longer. Then I'll go to the library or to some coffee shop to study. I have dance rehearsals once or twice a week and sometimes I go out drinking with friends, usually either Friday or Saturday." Jimin explained and Jungkook seemed genuinely interested, like what Jimin was telling him wasn't the most standard.
"You dance?" There was something about the way Jungkook was looking at him Jimin couldn't quite analyse.
"Yeah, I do. It's a good way to get rid of all that energy I have."
Jungkook smiled brightly, stuffing the last piece of cake into his mouth, puffing up his cheeks. "I wish I could do that."
Even after they left the café they didn't quite stop talking, the conversation seemingly flowing effortlessly between the two of them. Jimin was fucking smitten with Jungkook. There was something about the way he was that tall and kind of intimidating, but got excited like a kid over the smallest things that just made Jimin happy.
It was already late afternoon when they got back to the dorm, after having spent hours talking. At this point Jimin was absolutely certain that there wasn't anything he would have to worry about in Jungkook. The boy seemed to wear his heart on his sleeve, at least around Jimin, and easily showed all of his emotions.
"I had a lot of fun today." Jungkook admitted as they entered the building. "I... I'm glad that you don't seem to be scared of me." God, Jimin was going to stuff him in his pocket and never let him go again if this conversation went on any longer.
"Of course I'm not. I really enjoy your presence... we'll have to do that again, okay? And remember what I told you... you're always welcome to visit me in my room. The number is thirteen by the way." Not warning him this time Jimin hugged Jungkook again before grinning at him. "I really want you to pay me a visit actually. I think it's more comfortable when you're not being watched by everyone."
Jungkook actually looked surprised. "Do you really want me to come visit you?"
"Duh. I had a lot of fun today, so of course. Friends?" Please say yes. Please say yes. Jimin really hoped he had succeeded with his master plan of befriending Jungkook.
What he didn't expect was Jungkook to look like he was about to cry, then for him to actually start sniffing, wiping his nose and offering Jimin his other hand to shake. "Friends."
How had Jimin ever been scared of that?
Giggling he took Jungkook's hand, shaking it. "Now you can't ever escape me."
