Chapter 10
Today was different. I spend most of my day sleeping on my couch, watching several types of movies to cheer me up.
The entire day today, everything just felt off, and I couldn't place why.
Sarah was coming over in a bit, and I hoped that maybe her coming over will help me no longer feel this way.
I tossed the blanket I had on me to the side, making my way to the front door as I heard some sort-of argument outside.
I was debating staying inside and not be nosy, but my curiosity got the better of me, and I opened my door.
"William Grant Stone! You better listen to me right now!" I heard Mrs. Stone yell loudly.
"I don't care," Liam said, not giving her a second glance.
I opened my door widely, trying my best to stay still hidden.
"I told you, Liam, I don't want you going to those anymore," Mrs. Stone exclaimed.
"And you think I'll listen to you?" He chuckled. "I'm leaving," he said, getting inside his jeep and drove off without even glancing once at his mother.
Before I could even think about stopping myself, I grabbed my shoes and walked over to her.
She was standing there, still looking to see if Liam would come back. But we both knew he wouldn't.
"Mrs. Stone," I said. She looked at me with tears in her eyes.
"Why is he like this?" She questioned, more to herself than me.
I walked up to her making her sit on the ledge of her front step.
"What happened?" I asked.
Liam's mom was a second mom to me. She was the kindest soul I have ever met. She treated me like her own daughter, but after their father passed away, she took on a lot of responsibility.
She was strong. And was a great mother to both Liam and Tyler.
"I asked him to have lunch with Johnathan and me this coming weekend," she sighed. "But he refused and instead went to that stupid place,"
"Johnathan?"
"Ya... my new boyfriend," she said with a small smile.
I screamed in excitement. "A boyfriend!"
I couldn't be happier for her. She deserves this.
"Ya, he's the first man that I was able to open up to, and I want Liam and Ty to meet him but, you know Liam," she said.
Why was Liam so stubborn? His mom, for the first time in a long time, was dating someone. He should be happy and not ruin everything because he doesn't.
"But don't worry Mrs. Stone, I'm sure Liam will come around,"
"I doubt it; Liam is stubborn more stubborn than his father," she said, and I, of course, already knew that.
"I think he will. He might be mad now, but I know he just wants you to be happy," I told her.
"But that boy can seriously be something at times,"
-
Sarah came over a little while later after I had talked to Mrs. Stone.
I assured her Liam, will come, and she had asked me to make sure of it. And before I could even say, anything I agreed.
I knew Liam wouldn't listen to me even if he wanted to, but he had to listen to Tyler. Right?
"I'm so sick of school!" Sarah said, leaning herself forward and off my bed. "It's draining the life out of me,"
I nodded my head, agreeing.
"But enough about school. I don't want to pry inside your business, but what exactly happened between you and Luke?" I asked her. I had wanted to ask her this earlier, but once again, I didn't want to be nosy, but just like, then my curiosity seriously kills.
"There's nothing that happened," she said, playing with her fingers. She does that when she's nervous.
"Sarah, I'm your friend, and I want what's best for you, and Luke is not that," I told her. "You kissing him might have changed things,"
She looked down further. "Nathan and you make-"
"What does this have to do with Nathan?" She interrupted, looking up at me.
"Nathan likes you, and you know that he does, and you being with Luke hurts him," I say.
"First of all me and Luke and I aren't together, but that's doesn't mean Nathan and I are a possibility,"
"And you and Luke are?" I questioned. She closed her mouth for a second before she suddenly said,
"I never said anything about you and Liam,"
I was a little taken back. I didn't expect her to say that.
"Liam and I are different,"
"How?" she inquired. "You and Liam aren't much different than Luke and me. And I know you know that," she declared.
She was right.
"But I don't have any feelings for him, Sarah,"
"Are you sure about that, Storm? Or are you just afraid to admit that?"
I didn't know what to say. I knew part of me did feel something for him, but having someone call me out for it made my inside physically hurt.
"That's what I thought," she said.
"But do you have feelings for Luke," I asked her? She waited a few seconds before she answered.
"I would be lying if I said I didn't,"
-
"How's Skyler?" I asked Nathan while we filled in some documents at the front reception.
Nathan sighed, "she's coping in her ways," he said. "By, that I mean she gone to the shooting ring 3- times a day,"
I raised an eyebrow, confused.
"I know,"
"I'm just glad she's coping somehow," I told him. He nodded his head.
Skyler was one of the strongest people I've ever met. Though I only knew for a brief period, I know that about her. Part of me was jealous because I could never be like her.
And I knew if anyone were, going to deal with something like this, it would be her.
"Hey, can I ask you something?" Nathan asked.
"Shoot,"
"Do you think Sarah I'm any way likes me?" He asked, pain in his eyes. "I just feel like no matter how much she says she hates Luke; I just can't help but wonder if something is going between them," I looked down.
I wanted to tell him that nothing was going on and that Sarah would never be with me. But at this point, I didn't even know, and I certainly didn't want to give him false hope.
After the conversation Sarah and I had. I knew both of us were stuck in a reality where we both had feelings for the boys that hate us.
And I knew no matter how much we try to deny it, it's always going to be there, but Nathan didn't need to know that.
"I don't know, Nate. The best thing you can do is talk to her," I said, biting the corner of my lips.
"I know," he muttered. Before he changed topics, "Are you excited about the game?"
Tomorrow was the big game. The biggest game of the season. This was also the first game I'm going to since Noah.
I never planned to go, but this Nathan's first game as well. And I wanted to be there for him.
"Ya!" I exclaimed. "Are you ready for the game?" I asked him.
"I was born ready!" He says confidently. "Though this is my first game, I know I am going to crush it because I know for a fact that our team is great, and we are going to do awesome and-"
"You never stop rambling, do you?" I asked with a giggle.
"Oh, quiet," he pushed my shoulder.
I chuckled until we both were laughing hard.
But I stopped suddenly. My pulse quickened, and I felt my knees buckle as I felt the presence of the person I most dreaded seeing. The person I knew I never wanted to see.
I turned my head to see him with all his glory.
"Jace," I breathed.
