Chapter 3
"He just left like that?" Cassian asked.
Cassian, Tyler and I were having lunch together at a random fast-food restaurant.
Tyler nodded his head. "Storm tried to ask him, but you know him, " he shrugged his shoulder.
"I didn't even know why I thought I could convince him," I murmured.
"It's not your fault," Tyler assured me. "He's just difficult," he rolled his eyes.
"But you know your brother has always been stubborn. That's why he's so good at fighting," Cassian said.
I shifted at the mention of their fight club. I still hated that they fought, and they knew I didn't like it, but I knew they're not going to stop for my sake. And I didn't expect them to either.
But they did avoid talking about it in front of me. At least they tried too.
"Sorry," Cassian muttered. "It's okay."
"But you know Sam and Reece are nice," Tyler said, changing the topic.
I agreed. "Especially Sam, she's so sweet,"
Both Sam and Reece were good people. However, I felt that Reece enjoyed his alone time. Sam, on the other hand, was hilarious.
"You would like her, Cas," I smirked.
"I'm sure I would, " he rolled his eyes.
"Ya! You know they're going to your school next week," Tyler said.
And I gave him a surprised look. "Are you serious?"
He nodded his head. "Ya Johnathan mentioned it since they're moving here,"
"Yes! I'm sure everyone will like them," I said.
He agreed. "Cas, you should come over later. Storm and I wanted to watch a movie, " he said
I looked at him, waiting for a reply. "Ya, why not? I'm not doing anything later."
-
"Will your mom be okay with you having a movie night on a school night?" Cassian asked.
I shook my head. "What she doesn't know won't hurt her," I shrugged my shoulders. He chuckled.
"Can you grab this?" I asked, handing him the bowl of popcorn. He grabbed from my hand, and I took the drinks.
We walked towards the living room where Tyler was putting the movie on, and I followed behind.
"We got the snack!" Cassian announced, and Tyler cheered.
We put the snacks on the coffee table and took our spot on the couch. "What we watching?" I asked.
"Endgame!" He announced. I yelled in excitement. I loved that movie.
We sat back on the couch and began watching the movie.
It wasn't long before both Cassian and Tyler fell asleep, and I was the only one watching the movie. They both had the habit of falling asleep when we watch a movie.
"What time is it?" Tyler asked, waking up from his nap, his voice groggy.
I checked the time on my phone. "11:52,"
"Shit," he cursed. "I have to go home. I have to be somewhere early tomorrow," he said.
I nodded my head. He got up from the sofa. "What about him?" He asked, pointing at Cas.
I looked over at him. "I don't know. I'll wait till he wakes up," I said.
"Okay! I'll see you later, sunshine," he said and left out the door.
I decided on putting another movie on since I wasn't tired just yet.
I took the popcorn bowl that was empty and groaned and decided on going to make more.
I looked over at Cas once again and noticed how peaceful he looked while sleeping, and I couldn't help but brush the back of my hand against his cheeks. I sucked in a short breath, leaving my fingers to linger just a little bit longer before retrieving it back and got up to make my way to the kitchen.
Cassian was my friend. My best friend and even Sarah and Skyler noticed something between us.
I always saw him as a friend, and him coming back in my life after years makes me want to be closer to him.
Throughout my recovery process, Cassian was there for me. I mean all my friends were but with him it was different. At least that's what everyone believed.
I couldn't let myself feel anything for him nor did I want to.
Because it is never going to change that I couldn't think about anyone else but Liam.
My feeling for Liam are compelling. I knew it was always going to be Liam, in my heart, even if he doesn't remember right now.
I am not giving up on him. I never will.
I sighed, taking out the hot bag of popcorn from the microwave and dumping it inside the bowl.
I slowly walked back to the living room to find that Cassian was gone.
I stood there for a few seconds, thinking he might've gone to the bathroom, but he hadn't.
Had he just left without even telling me?
-
"Don't you think it's not fair that I'm not able to get every fluffy thing in the world," Skyler shrugged her shoulder, annoyed.
Sarah and I laughed.
"If you had all the fluffy things in the world, Sky, there wouldn't be enough in the world," Sarah said.
"Who cares. It's a life or death situation for me," she said, whining.
"You seriously are obsessed," I said, chuckling.
"It's not an obsession. It's a need," she strictly said.
"Maybe you should marry someone that owns a fluffy company," I said. Sarah giggled.
"If I could, I would," she said. "But if I find someone like that, I won't even hesitate to say yes,"
"Of course you won't," Sarah said.
Sarah, Skyler, and I were having lunch on our lunch break.
"Is Nathan coming?" I asked.
"Ya, but he's still in practice," Skyler looked at her phone.
"Even after the season is over, he's still practicing," Sarah said.
"Being good only comes by practice," I felt his hand on my shoulder as he leaned in.
Nathan has always been a good player in whatever sport he did play. There was no doubt in that.
"Yes, but even practicing too much can be bad," she stated.
He smirked at her but didn't say anything else and took his seat next to me.
"Didn't think you cared, Sarah?" He asked.
Skyler and I looked at each other, both of us knowing that we shouldn't be in the middle of this.
"Why wouldn't I?" She questioned.
"Nevermind, " he paused, looking off to the side. "Anyways, I can't wait for you to be back at work, Storm," he said.
It took me a few seconds before replying. I looked at Sarah, who looked confused. I gave her a reassuring smile.
"Me too! It's been a while," I said.
"Hey, can I stop at the hospital today?" Skyler asked her brother.
Nathan raised an eyebrow. "Why?"
"Cuz I uh was going to apply for a job there," she said.
I yelped at her. "No way!" I exclaimed.
"I thought you hated the hospital, " Nathan said.
"I do! But I'm honestly having a hard time finding anywhere else to work, and dad suggested the hospital," she shrugged.
"Well, either way, it would be fun to work with you, "
I said.
"Maybe I should apply too, " Sarah giggled.
"Just imagine us all working there," Skyler laughed.
"Too bad I'm stuck at my parent's dental office," She frowned.
"It's okay. I bet it's easier than a hospital," Nathan said.
"I don't know bout that,"
"I think we can agree that both the hospital and the dental office is hard work," I said. And they agreed.
"Storm!" Someone called out. I turned my head to see a cheerful Sam walking over to us.
"Sam!" I shouted. "What are you doing here? Tyler mentioned you were moving next week,"
She took a seat at the table. "We are, but my brother and I came today to register and look around the school," she said.
I nodded my head. "These are my friends. This is Nathan, Sarah and Skyler or Sky," I introduced them.
They all smiled at her. "I'm Samantha, but you can call me Sam," she said.
"She's Johnathan's daughter," I explained.
"It's nice to meet you, Sam," Nathan said.
"You as well," she uttered.
"Why are you transferring school close to the end of the school year?" Skyler asked, looking genuinely curious.
"I'm a year younger. Since my dad is moving here, we kinda had no choice," she shrugged. "My brother is graduating, and he was worried that his grade would not transfer from the school. That's why we were here mainly, but there was actually no problem with that," she said.
"That's great!" I smiled. "So you'll be starting here next Monday?" I asked.
She shook her head. "We're starting tomorrow, actually,"
"In the middle of the week?" Skyler asked.
"Yup," she said.
"Where's your brother Sam?" I asked her.
"He actually was talking to Liam and his friends on my way here," she said.
I was surprised to hear that. Liam barely even looked at him at the dinner, and now they were talking?
"Here he comes with them," her eyes averted to behind me, and I turned to glance.
Liam walked in with his friends while they all talked to Reece about who knows what?
I turned my attention back to my friends.
"I didn't know they knew each other," I looked at Sam.
"Honestly, I didn't either," she said. "But at least maybe now he will be less cold towards them," she muttered under her breath.
It seemed to be news to everyone they knew each other. But Liam being friends may be good for him, considering maybe he will be okay with Johnathan. So I'm glad that they are a friends.
"Sam, let's go!" We looked up to see Reece standing with his hands in his pocket and a flat expression on his face.
Sam got up from her seat.
I met eyes with Reece, and he gave me a friendly smile which I returned.
"I'll see you all tomorrow. Bye," she said before leaving with her brother.
"She seems nice," Nathan said.
"She is,"
