Chapter 25
The morning was hectic. We all woke up at the crack of dawn and began preparing for the wedding.
It is almost 10 am now, and the wedding is at 2 p.m. And we still haven't gotten anything ready.
I wanted everything to be perfect for her. But it wasn't just me. We all wanted everything to be perfect.
All the setup for the wedding was done, and all that was left was for us to get ready now.
Sarah and I helped Mrs. King get ready while Skyler and Sam were getting our dresses ready.
"Is this silly for me to do?" She asked us.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"I don't know. It all just feels silly. I'm almost in my 40s, and I'm getting married!" She exclaimed.
"You're just nervous, Mrs. King. Don't worry; none of this is silly," Sarah reassured her.
"You and Johnathan are going to be so happy. And Johnathan loves you so much, so you don't need to be nervous about anything," I comforted her.
She smiles at us. "I want both of you to call me Tessa. At least you guys calling me that makes me feel a little younger," she sighed. "Especially you Storm." she directed her eyes at me.
It was an odd request since I had always called her by her last name. But in a way, I think it made sense for me to call her that.
"Okay." I smiled.
"Now, how do I look?" She got up from her chair, standing in front of us with her simple white satin wedding dress.
"You look flawless!" I ensured her.
She smiled at us again. She walked closer to me, taking my hand in hers. "Thank you! For everything. I'm really glad you are here," she said and left a small kiss on my forehead. "I'm also glad that Liam has you. Maybe even one day you'll be officially my daughter," she teased.
I giggled. "I think we have a long while till that happens,"
"Oh, you know in my time, we all got married young," she told me.
"I think Storm is only waiting for Liam to ask," Sarah also joked.
I rolled my eyes at both of them and helped Tessa with the last few touches for her, and Sarah and I rushed to get ready as well.
Sarah and Skyler helped Sam and Tessa's niece Jess, one of her bridesmaids and me into our gorgeous baby blue dress that stopped just above our knees. It has a sweetheart neckline and was very simple, which was ideal for this wedding.
We got ready fast, and just like that, it was finally time for the ceremony.
And it was time for all of us to walk down the aisle. The groom's man and Johnathan were already up there, and the blue looked gorgeous on all of them.
I caught my eyes with Liam, who had a cheeky smirk on his lips and winked at me.
This was the first time I saw him all day today, and he looked absolutely breathtaking in his suit. Tyler and Reece were wearing the same suit, but Liam looked different.
It fit him so perfectly that I almost dropped my jaw upon seeing him. But I kept my cool and made my way to the aisle, standing at the opposite of them all.
I couldn't stop grinning at him, and I could tell he noticed.
The only thing that made me snap out of my trance was when the slow music started playing, and Liam's mom began walking down the aisle.
I noticed the broad smile on Johnathan, who couldn't stop taking his eyes off of her. The love he had for her showed through just that one look.
She reached to him, and he immediately grabbed her waist, pulling her into him.
But Tessa's sister, who was officiating their wedding, had to tell him to stop and wait, making the crowd laugh.
The ceremony itself was beautiful. I shed a few tears when they had begun saying their vows.
"Tessa, you are the love of my life. I can't imagine my life without you. Meeting you only brought me the peace and comfort I had been seeking for so long. You make me a better man, a happier man. And I can't wait to spend the rest of our lives together," Johnathan's vow made her cry. It made us all cry. His words were perfect, and I couldn't help but look at Liam, who was staring back at me.
"Johnathan, you coming into my life was unexpected. Maybe more than I like to admit, but now when thinking about it, you came into my life when I needed you the most. You make my life better by just being here. There aren't words to describe how much I love and cherish you, and I can't wait to spend the rest of our lives with you too," she finished, saying hers.
Both of their vows were perfect for each other. And I couldn't be happier for them.
"By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss my sister,"
We all cheered and clapped as they kissed.
I whipped away my tears and watched both of them in excitement.
-
Liam disappeared after the ceremony. I looked for him everywhere, and I couldn't find him anywhere.
"Hey, Sunshine. What are you doing?" Tyler, who seemed to have noticed me, came up to me.
"Nothing, I was just looking for Liam," I told him.
He nods his head. "You look great in that dress," he told me.
I smile. "Thank you. And you looked great in your suit also," I say.
"Ya, I'm surprised Liam actually wore it," he said.
"I think we all are!" I told him with a shrug. "The wedding was beautiful," I said. "Your mom looks so happy and beautiful,"
"Ya, I'm really glad she's happy," he said with a smile. "She deserves it."
I agree with him.
"Hey, but I wanted to ask you something,"
"Shoot,"
"Don't take this in any way, but what's the deal with your friend Sky?" He asked.
"What do you mean? Didn't you meet her before?" I asked, confused.
"Ya, but I was talking to her earlier, and I don't know she seemed very nice," he didn't meet my eyes.
Oh.
"You mean what her deal is," I smirk.
He hesitates. "Ya,"
"She's single if that's what you want to know. But she's also very picky. And I'm pretty sure Reece also has a crush on her,"
"Reece is gay."
"Wait, what?" My eyes widen. I had no idea. He always seemed to get close to Sky. I was sure he liked her. I think we all were.
I had no idea he was gay. It didn't occur to me that he was.
"Ya, he is,"
"But he was always flirting with Sky, and I'm pretty sure he asked her out before," I told him.
He shrugged his shoulder. "I'm not sure, but I saw him kissing his boyfriend just before I got here,"
"Really? Well, either way, I'm happy for him," I said. "And if you want to talk to Skyler, you got to do it yourself. Impress her," I say. "She really likes theatre,"
"Theatre, huh?"
I nod my head. "And musicals."
"Good to know. Anyway, I've got to go find her now. I'll talk to you later, Sunshine." he kissed my cheeks before he ran off in the other direction.
I smiled. Tyler was the best person I know, and I have a hunch that Sky will like him as well.
I went to look for Liam in his room, and he wasn't there either. I had wondered where he had disappeared to until I found him in one of the office's rooms.
He's in his dad's old office.
I pushed the door slightly and made my way inside. He must not have heard me come in because his eyes were still set on the family picture on the desk.
"Liam," I called him, and his eyes found mine.
His lips curved into a somewhat smile upon seeing me. "Hey," he says softly.
I reached up and placed a hand on his shoulder and leaned my head against him, staring at the picture.
They all looked young. This was taken a couple of years back. My dad had taken this picture of them.
Liam had a scowl on his face while Tyler smiled big. The parents were staring at each other, and I could see the love they once had for each other.
"I am happy for my mom, but-"
"I know."
He didn't have to say it. I knew it must have been hard for him.
"For his sake, at least I'll try my best with my mom and Johnathan. I was just being selfish then. But I'm happy for them. They deserve each other more than my parents did," he said, leaning further into me.
I didn't say anything, just listened to him.
We just stood there for a minute before he let me go and let me out of the office door.
He closed the door behind us. "They're turning this into a room for either Reece or Sam."
"Oh, I'm sorry, Liam,"
"No, I'm glad that they are. I think I needed to be in there one last time,"
-
"You know, you look really good in that suit," I say.
"Eh, I was skeptic about the light blue, but I guess it grew on me." He chuckled.
"Uh oh." I nod my head with a smirk.
"You know, with this whole wedding thing happening, I couldn't help but think about something,"
I raised an eyebrow, waiting for him to say more.
"You walking down the aisle towards me," he said. It sometimes surprises how he can say such things at times. "That is if you want it to be me that standing at the altar,"
I smiled. "Mm, I was maybe thinking about Timothée Chalamet, but I guess you could work too," I teased.
He rolled his eyes. "Why is it so hard to be serious with you?"
I shrug my shoulder. "Maybe cuz you're always serious with me,"
He smirked. "I love you, Storm Grace Miller," he says.
"And I you. Maybe more than I planned to," I chuckle.
"Then marry me," he said in such a serious tone.
"What?" I stopped laughing and stared at him.
"Obviously not now, but soon when we're both ready. Just promise me now that it will be me that you marry,"
I smiled.
The idea of marrying Liam crossed my head a million times than I like to admit. He was everything I ever wanted. To think that it took this long for us to be where we are finally is needless to say I would marry him in a heartbeat even if he had asked now.
"I promise," I whispered before falling into his arms.
He wrapped himself around me and kissed me long and hard.
"I only ever want it to be you anyway," I say. "I love you, William Grant Stone
And then Liam did something he rarely does. I wished I saw him do more often.
But seeing him do it now was all worth everything we had gone through all these years and these couple of months.
He smiled—a genuine big smile.
