Night quickly fell upon Rivendell. Not even the most skilled elves could spot the two shadows moving silently along the riverbank.

"Are you sure we should be doing this?" The first shadow whispered.

The second shadow nodded, saying,"Trust me, Lindy. I've known Moon since I was an elfling"

At the mention of elfling, Lindethiel glanced down at Miriel. She had not woken throughout the trip, all the better for them to go unnoticed.

At the cottage, Lindethiel had asked,"Why must we do this so secretly?"

Vanya was prepared for this, and began to speak. "Several years ago, Moon and Elrond worked together, as astronomers. Moon was by far the most skilled, and had a mysterious air about her that no one could quite identify." Vanya paused. "When Elrond became Lord of Rivendell, he and Moon still worked together. However, Moon tried to seize his power. She was sent into exile."

"Moon fled for about 200 years before returning. She secretly settled in a small hut near the outskirts of Rivendell." Lindethiel had listened, amazed. "But how do you know her?" Lindethiel asked.

Vanya seemed to not hear her, and went to gather their supplies.

Now, as they were traveling, the whole story echoed in Lindethiel's head. She was snapped out of her thoughts when Vanya quietly called, "We're here!"

Ever so silently, the two elves approached the door of the cleverly hidden hut. Vanya knocked a certain pattern, and the door opened a crack, stopped by a locked chain.

"Password?" A soft voice from inside the hut asked.

Vanya whispered something that Lindethiel couldn't quite catch, but she heard the sound of the lock opening.

The door opened, and there stood an elf with long, wavy hair and almost crystal-like blue eyes. "Come in" she called.

After they were inside, the elf looked straight at Vanya. "You have returned. What brings you here?" she asked.

Vanya replied, "Moon, this is Lindy. She's a friend of mine. We were wondering if you knew anything about this elfling?" Lindethiel brought Miriel over to where Moon could see.

After a few minutes of inspection, Moon finally spoke. "Where did you find her?"

"On the edge of a river" Lindethiel told her.

Moon nodded, and said, "This is no ordinary elfling. By the looks of it, she comes from Palevine"

"Palevine? Never heard of it"

Exclaimed Lindethiel.

Moon went on. "Few have. It is a hidden valley, location unknown. The elves that live there are mysterious, and stay hidden. The only way I know about them is because I stayed with them when I was exiled"

"What?!" exclaimed Vanya.

Moon turned to her. "I suppose I've never told you. well now you know" she said casually, turning back to Lindethiel. "I can take you there, but be warned" Her voice suddenly grew dark. "The elves there are evil. There is a reason why they are as hidden as they are"

Lindethiel looked at Vanya, then Moon, and then back to Vanya.

"Take me."
