"Ruffle your hair up, put a little more eyeliner on."
Taehyung and Namjoon currently sat cross-legged on the floor of Jimin's bedroom, watching in amusement as their bandmate scrambled around his room attempting to get ready.
It was just past eight, and Jungkook's band was performing at nine, but yet Jimin was still standing in the middle of his room shirtless and distraught. This happened every time he had a planned meet up with Jungkook. The blue haired male always looked so effortlessly good, Jimin couldn't help but try and put forward the best version of himself.
"It's been proven that he already likes you, Jimin." Namjoon chuckled, raising an eyebrow as he watched Jimin pull all of his shirts out of his closet and dump them on the bed in front of him. "You could show up there in a paper bag and he'd probably still be eyeing you up."
Jimin rolled his eyes, before picking up a black button-down and looking at it thoughtfully.
"That's not the point." He replied, slipping the shirt on over his shoulders and walking over to his mirror. "He's got like, half the city swooning over him, I can't exactly show up to his shows looking like a slob if I expect to keep him." He buttoned up the shirt nearly all the way, keeping the top three undone to expose his collarbones and a small portion of his chest.
"I really doubt that your looks are the only thing keeping him holding on." Taehyung countered, observing Jimin as the raven haired male picked up a few necklaces from off of his dresser. "You guys didn't even hook up last night, if he was only thinking with his dick I bet things would've gone a little differently."
"Maybe." Jimin hummed, clasping a silver chain around his neck. "Whatever though, is it a crime to want to look good?" He leaned down to look at himself more closely in the mirror, running his hands through his hair before picking up an eyeliner pencil.
"Only when it's going to make you late." Namjoon checked his watch, tapping it a few times to bring attention to the point he was making. "You've got like ten minutes until we should be getting out of here.
Jimin pursed his lips, trying to stay focused as he dragged the black eyeliner pencil against his eyelid. He believed that his friends were right, but he also loved the way Jungkook looked at him when he got all dressed up, so regardless he was putting in the effort.
"It's a only fifteen minute walk, and it's not like I have to see him before the show, so I think I'll be fine." He used his finger to smudge out some of the eyeliner on his waterline, then reaching down to grab two silver earrings to match his necklace. Afterwords he turned around, smoothing out his shirt and looking up to his bandmates. "How's this?"
"At this point I'm just happy you've got an outfit put on, considering the amount of clothes you've tried on tonight." Taehyung laughed, standing up and brushing off the ripped blue jeans he was wearing. "But you look good, trust me, so can we finally get going? I'm itching for a cocktail."
Jimin nodded, taking in a deep breath. No matter how many times they met up, his nerves were always on high alert every time he knew he was going to see Jungkook. The taller male's confidence and demeanour just never grew old on him, his addicting words and provocative eyes always causing a shiver to go down Jimin's spine. The expectation left him with a cocktail of nervousness and excitement brewing in his stomach.
"Okay, let's go."
-
"Jimin!"
They had arrived at Jimin's work just in time, Jungkook's band on the stage and tweaking the last few adjustments on their instruments as they readied to perform. It was endearing how quickly Jungkook had spotted him though, as if the drummer had been scanning the crowd since he got there in hopes of seeing Jimin's face.
Jimin smiled softly as Jungkook called out to him, trying to ignore the few curious looks from patrons he got in the process. He brought his hand up to give Jungkook a small wave, but he hadn't expected the blue haired male to get up from his spot behind his drums to quickly jog over to him.
It was almost embarrassing, due to the fact that Jungkook's enthusiasm towards him was drawing quite a bit of attention their way, but the excitement to see the drummer overruled it all. "You made it." Jungkook beamed, Jimin watching carefully as his eyes scanned his appearance. There was that look again. Jungkook's eyes were feasting on him, taking in every single aspect of the image in front of him in a way that had Jimin gulping. The taller male reached forwards, brushing a few pieces of black hair out of Jimin's eyes gently. "You look really good."
Just four words was all it took for Jimin to feel weak in the knees, Jungkook's voice low and littered with desire.
He knew it was a good idea to get dressed up.
"Thank you." Jimin smiled, attempting to suppress the blush he could feel creeping up his neck. He looked up to meet Jungkook's gaze, the skin of his face tingling where the drummer's hand had brushed against it. "So do you, but you always do."
That was a fraction of the truth. Jungkook didn't just look 'good', he never just looked good. He looked mesmeric, like something out of a painting as the bar lights cast neon colours across his face. His hair was hidden beneath a knit black beanie, cerulean strands peeking out and framing his face with colour. His eyes, still trained on Jimin, were outlined with a smoky black that only enhanced their magnetism.
An oversized brown flannel hung loosely on his body, only buttoned up a few times to give Jimin a sneak peek of the skin that hid underneath it.
Jungkook bit his lip, a smile tugging its way onto his features.
"Yeah?" He chuckled. "You little flirt."
His words were teasing, and there was a glint in his eye that Jimin recognized well. He knew that whatever attempts he had been making to control his blush were failing, feeling his face heat up as the tension between them grew. "But compliments do sound the best coming from your lips. Have I finally won you over?"
Jimin gulped, nervously reaching forwards and taking hold of Jungkook's tattooed hand. He used it as a way to escape from the taller male's near suffocating gaze, focusing instead on the rings on his fingers.
"Maybe." Jimin replied, fiddling with the jewelry. Jungkook's hands with quite a bit larger than his, and they were rough and littered with callouses. "It's weird being here and not working, but I just really wanted to see you play again."
Jungkook's smile only widened. He watched Jimin's nimble fingers toy with the jewelry on his hand, the shorter male's soft touch causing goosebumps to raise on his arm. The Jimin that played hard to get had been enticing, a challenge that Jungkook refused to lose; but Jungkook almost liked it more now that the shorter male had warmed up to him. He defences were down, and the subtle shyness he displayed with nothing short of adorable.
Jungkook liked every version of him, he had found out.
"So Taehyung wasn't wrong." He smirked, intertwining his fingers with Jimin's. "You really are my biggest fan."
Jimin chuckled softly, shrugging his shoulders and looking back up to meet eyes with the taller male once more. "I suppose." Jungkook's hand enveloped his in warmth, the rough skin of his palm pressed against Jimin's and causing electricity to shoot up his arm. The contact was so gentle, Jungkook's thumb smoothing against his hand in a way that had Jimin's head spinning. "You should probably be on stage right now though."
Both of them looked over to the stage, where Hoseok and Yoongi finished setting up and Seokjin was watching Jungkook expectantly.
"If I must." Jungkook sighed, unweaving his and Jimin's fingers and pulling his hand away. He leaned down, reaching forwards and tipping Jimin's chin up with his thumb. He watched as the shorter male's breath hitched, failing to contain the shiver that went down his spine. "Will I see you after the show?"
He already knew what Jimin's answer would be, his eyes flooded with yearning as he looked up into Jungkook's eyes. He loved how responsive Jimin was to him, tiny touches all it taking for him to be melting within his hands.
"If you want to." Jimin spoke softly, watching Jungkook's eyes darken.
"I always want to see you." He replied, finally pulling his hand away and leaving a tingling spot on Jimin's skin where his thumb had just been. Jimin could tell he didn't want to leave, body hesitant even as he began to walk backwards towards the stage. "I'll be waiting."
One last wave and Jungkook was turning around, Jimin watching the back of him as he jogged back over to his bandmates - who looked like they all gave him a quick scolding for running away so close to their set. He watched Jungkook smile cheekily, mouthing something Jimin couldn't decipher and shoving Hoseok playfully in response to whatever he had said.
God, he liked him.
He just couldn't tear his eyes away, gaze following Jungkook as he made his way over to his drum set and sat on the stool behind it. He rolled his sleeves up to his elbows, his colourful tattoos on display once more.
He didn't want to admit it, because he still didn't fully trust Jungkook, but he knew that he was falling for him. He could feel it in his chest, feel it in his bones that he was a lot more than just 'attracted' to the drummer.
And though Jungkook was giving him all the signs that he felt the same way, it was still terrifying.
"Jimin! There you are!" Namjoon's voice snapped him out of his thoughts, and he turned around to find his two bandmates who he had lost in the crowd - already visibly drunk. "What're you doing? The shows about to start, don't you want a good spot?"
"I'm gonna grab a drink first." Jimin smiled sheepishly, trying to shake off the flustered feeling that still lingered from talking to Jungkook. "I'll meet you there."
Taehyung raised an eyebrow, leaning on Namjoon's shoulder and taking a swig of the peach flavoured soju in his hand.
"What have you been doing all this time?" He asked, narrowing his eyes when the shorter male merely shrugged his shoulders in response. "Alright, keep your secrets." He hummed. Even his hazy mind was able to tell what the look on Jimin's face meant. His skin tinted red and his eyes fighting to not look up at the stage - he had obviously been talking to Jungkook.
Namjoon chuckled softly and shook his head, before listening to Jimin's request and tugging Taehyung over in the direction of the stage. Seokjin had already leaned towards his microphone and greeted the crowd, fingers gently strumming the guitar in his hands as he prepared to start their first song.
Jimin quickly made his way over to the bar, ordering a drink as the sound of Jungkook's drumsticks hitting together echoed through his ears. He turned around once their was a cold glass in his hand, maneuvering his way through the many sweaty bodies to get himself as close as possible.
Namjoon and Taehyung had managed to get to the front already somehow, the blonde haired male whistling in enthusiasm as Yoongi began to pluck out a catchy baseline during the introduction. Jimin couldn't help but chuckle at his friends, taking a sip of his drink and continuing to slip his body in between others on the quest to get as close to the stage as possible.
He already had his eyes on Jungkook, they had barely left him since the blue haired male has departed from their conversation. He was sat on stage like he was meant to be, overhead lights casting a spotlight on him that made him the centre of attention - well, to Jimin at least. He could never get over how gorgeous Jungkook was, especially as he was in his element, his lips stretched into a grin as he swung his arms to kick off the beat of their song.
It wasn't one that he had heard before, which was surprising given the amount of times he had heard them play at his work.
He finally slipped in beside where Taehyung and Namjoon stood, looking up at the stage as Seokjin's voice graced the building when he leaned into his microphone. He shifted his gaze to the back of the stage once more, a shiver going down his spine when he found himself being met with Jungkook's eye contact.
He was always so good at picking him out of a crowd.
The look on his face was different though; expectant. Like he was waiting for Jimin's reaction to something, waiting for him to notice something. Jimin tilted his head to the side in somewhat confusion, bringing the glass in his hand up to meet his lips once more.
The taste of his cocktail didn't even touch his tongue though, because he was soon freezing in his spot once his ear clued in to what was actually being sung.
He watched as Jungkook seemed to notice the realization on his face, the smile on his own growing even wider before he closed his eyes and put his all into the performance he was giving.
Jimin was right - he hadn't heard this song before.
But he had read it.
