"What kind of coffee do you like, Jimin?"
Jimin didn't exactly take Jungkook seriously when the younger male had invited him over for coffee. In all honestly he just thought that it was just another ploy to have Jimin tangled up within his bedsheets again.
He wouldn't have minded, but it definitely wouldn't have been the preferred outcome.
Yet here Jungkook stood, showered hair still drying and a fitted white t-shirt on his torso as he poured espresso beans into the machine adjacent to him - and Jimin found himself being happy to be proved wrong. As always, he looked like he could have come straight out of a magazine, effortlessly gorgeous and leaving Jimin near swooning as he sat across from the younger male.
"Um... hot?" Jimin laughed softly, knowing that his answer sounded fairly ridiculous. "And with cream and sugar." He watched a small smile spread across Jungkook's mouth, before he was breaking out into a full blown grin and letting out a chuckle.
"Be more vague, would you?" The blue haired male laughed softly, setting down the bag of espresso beans and pressing the button on the machine that ground them. He looked up to meet Jimin's eyes, his gaze swimming with amusement. "Latte? Cappuccino? Macchiato?"
"Korean, please." Jimin giggled, his eyes crinkling up as he watched Jungkook's roll his eyes lightheartedly in response. "A latte, if that's not too much to ask." He smiled softly, resting his head on his hand as he looked up at the other male. "I was honestly just expecting a normal mug of coffee, I didn't think you'd be such a connoisseur."
Jungkook smirked softly, before walking over to the fridge and pulling out a carton of milk.
"I just got tired of paying for something I could easily do myself." He answered, pouring milk into a cup that was sat on the table in front of Jimin. "Also inconsistencies." Jungkook continued, before he walked back over to the espresso machine, bringing the cup of milk with him to steam it. "I'm picky with my coffee, and I've never went to a shop that can make it the exact same way every time." He pressed two buttons on the machine in concession, the sound of milk steaming and coffee brewing filling the silence between his words. "I, on the other hand, can."
Jimin raised an eyebrow, leaning forward slightly in his seat.
"Confident." He observed, and it was an adjective that he had pinned to Jungkook the moment they had met. Now though, was the first time he actually got to voice it. "Or maybe... Cocky?"
Jungkook scoffed, a playful smile on his lips as he leaned forward and set a coffee cup in front of Jimin.
"What's the difference?" He asked softly. Jimin's breath hitched, and he watched as Jungkook slowly poured a steaming double shot of espresso into the mug. The whisps of steam swirled into the air, before disappearing just beyond the barrier of the cup's edge.
It smelled amazing too - the combination of sweetness and bitterness making Jimin's mouth water from the scent. He waited a few moments to answer, observing as Jungkook then slowly poured the steamed milk on top, transitioning the colour to a warm caramel tone as the milk collided with espresso.
"The fact that you don't know." Jimin finally responded, reaching forwards once Jungkook slid the mug closer to him. "That's the difference." He brought the mug to his lips, meeting Jungkook's eyes as the bittersweet taste of coffee met his tongue.
Jungkook's eyebrows furrowed, his expression turning to a confused one for just a moment before he was shaking his head and chuckling softly.
"Sometimes you don't make sense, Jimin." He laughed, his eyes curious as they observed the male in front of him. Jimin took another sip of his drink, before shrugging.
"Maybe you just don't understand me." He answered, wiping a spot of cream off of his top lip as his eyes flickered up to meet Jungkook's gaze once more. The younger male's irises swam with with a mixture of emotions, playful curiosity dominating them all.
"God, I wish I did." Jungkook breathed, leaning down lower on his elbows so that he could be level with Jimin's eye line. They stayed silent for a few moments, and the tension in the air only grew thicker and thicker the longer the two of them stayed in place.
Jungkook watched as Jimin took another sip of his coffee, the sunlight the cast in through the window making his eyes shine like golden honey. "Do you write the lyrics for your band?"
Jimin raised an eyebrow, setting his mug down on the counter in front of him.
"Sometimes." He responded, brushing a few pieces of hair out of his eyes. "I like to write. But I'm too hard on myself I think, and so I never think that my lyrics are good enough to show my bandmates." He watched as Jungkook's expression softened. "I've probably got hundred of songs that will never see the light of day."
"Me too." Jungkook smiled, dimples forming on his cheeks. He paused for a moment, seeming to debate with himself for a second before continuing. "Do you want to see?"
Jimin's eyebrows shot up, and he moved his head back in surprise.
"See what?" He asked.
"Some of my unused lyrics." Jungkook clarified. "I've got one of my notebooks kicking around here somewhere." He nodded his head in the direction of his living room, causing a few blue strands of hair to fall in front of his eyes.
Jimin thought for a moment, humming softly and tracing his finger along the edge of his coffee cup. "I've never offered this before, so you should probably jump on it before I get too nervous and take it back." Jungkook laughed, and he smiled bashfully.
This side of Jungkook was one that Jimin hadn't really seen before. The confidence that he wore constantly was now stripped away, allowing Jimin to see the genuine nervousness that swam in his eyes. It was almost refreshing to see his sharp alluring gaze turn into a soft timid one.
"I'd like to see." Jimin smiled, his eyes crinkling up as he did so. "Maybe I'll show you mine, next time we see each other." Jungkook's eyes twinkled with something akin to excitement, and he stood up straight, crossing his arms over his chest.
"Glad to know it's not just my good looks that's gonna keep you around." Jungkook grinned cheekily, making Jimin groan out annoyance and roll his eyes.
There was the Jungkook he was used to.
The taller male motioned for Jimin to stand up, beginning to walk around the counter. "Come on, you can bring your coffee with you."
Jimin stood up, following after Jungkook as the younger male lead him into his living room. Jimin tried his hardest not to let the thoughts seep into his mind, but he just couldn't help but notice how toned Jungkook's back looked beneath his white T-shirt as he walked behind the younger male.
He could remind what the muscles felt like beneath his fingertips.
With all of the casual conversation they had been having, Jimin had almost forgot that he had been laid up in Jungkook's bed just a few days before this. He shook his head softly to clear his thoughts, before breathing out a deep breath and stepping into Jungkook's living room.
Jimin observed the drum set in the corner. He had seen a glimpse of it last time he came to Jungkook's house, but he didn't have time to actually look at it before Jungkook dragged him into his bedroom. It was matte black, and Jimin could tell it was old due to the many chips and dents it had.
But it definitely screamed Jungkook - Jimin could already picture him sat behind it.
Jimin sat on the couch, waiting until Jungkook returned from where he was rustling around in a drawer for his aforementioned notebook. "Got it." Jungkook finally sighed after a few moments, holding up a small blue notebook triumphantly. He turned around and walked over to the couch, before sitting next to Jimin. "This is one of... I think four notebooks I have."
He placed it in Jimin's lap, the shorter male leaning forwards to set down his coffee cup before picking up the book. "Take a look." Jungkook prompted him, his eyes both curious and nervous as he watched Jimin run his thumb over the worn cover. Jimin met his eyes hesitantly, tracing his thumb across the writing on the cover that simply read "JK's Notes".
He flipped through the book with his thumb, finding page after page of messily scrawled notes from Jungkook. Though scratchy, his handwriting was nice to look at - overflowing with character. He paused on the most recent page, mostly because of the pact that he saw his name written amongst other words.
"Jungkook-" Jimin began, opening the book fully and scanning his eyes across the page. His name was only on there once, at the top of the page, but the rest was a near completed song. All of it being such raw feeling on paper, some lines scribbled out when the younger male must've found a better way to say them.
"How'd I know you'd stop on that one?" Jungkook asked softly, observing Jimin nervously as the raven haired male had his eyes glued to the page of the notebook. "What can I say? You inspire me." His words tore Jimin away from the page, meeting Jungkook's eyes and feeling as his heartbeat quickened. "It's hard to put you into words, and so I've become kind of obsessed with trying to."
Jimin slowly closed the notebook, breathing in a shaky breath. Though he was a musician himself, he had never had somebody write a song about him, and being on the receiving end had his heart pounding in his chest.
"I've never seen myself, like you wrote me to be." He answered softly, noticing as Jungkook gently slid a few inches closer to him. "This is the first time I've gotten to see myself from someone else's perspective, I think."
Jungkook smiled softly, and his eyes softened.
"Then you can read my notes anytime, if you'd like." Jungkook replied, slowly reaching forwards and placing his hand on Jimin's kneecap. "Because from my perspective, you're always gorgeous."
Oh god. It was no wonder that Jungkook was their lyricist because even the way he spoke casually was just music to Jimin's ears. He made Jimin's heart flutter so easily.
"I'd like that." Jimin whispered, and he found himself slowly leaning towards Jungkook. He spoke such sweet things, he just wanted to feel his sweet touches to match.
Jungkook smiled, and brought a tattooed hand up to cup Jimin's face, his thumb smoothing across his cheekbone. His eyes, slightly covered by his hair, flickered down to Jimin's lips.
Then he was leaning forward too, and before Jimin knew it their lips were colliding with each other's once again. It was just as addictive as the first time, Jimin reaching forwards to fist his hands him the younger male's hair.
He wanted him, and now he had him. Though he wasn't sure for how long, that thought still made every single touch addicting.
Jimin sighed softly as Jungkook gently pressed him into the cushions of the couch, greedy hands already snaking beneath Jimin's shirt to feel the smooth skin beneath it.
And the temperature between them rose, while Jimin's coffee grew colder.
