"Woah, Min, are you doing okay?"
Jimin was not, in fact, doing okay.
Ever since what happened between him and Jungkook he just couldn't find it in himself to talk to the younger male.
It wasn't like Jungkook was making it hard to, either, the blue haired male had sent him multiple texts and voicemails that all went unreplied to. 'I'm sorry." "Jimin, if you just gave me a chance to explain.." "You're the only one I want, you know that."
Easily, he could accept the apologies, gloss over the uncertainties, and crawl back into Jungkook's bed again. He just couldn't bring himself to though. It felt as if somebody had taken off his rose tinted glasses, and now suddenly Jungkook seemed much duller.
Maybe things had been going too well, though. Jungkook was just too mesmerizing to be held by Jimin exclusively. Maybe it was almost selfish to ask him to do so. He probably should have expected something like this to happen, because Jungkook was doing all the right things. Maybe this was all just a game he had a lot of practice with.
Too many things were a 'maybe', nothing was easy to decipher when it came to Jungkook.
Most of all though, he just couldn't get his mind to stop questioning the younger male. How could he know which words were truth and which were ones just meant to please him? Finding the difference was incredibly hard, and so Jimin chose to not talk to him at all.
"Do I look it?" Jimin was sat at the bar of his work, a half finished vodka spritzer next to him along with his notebook in front of him. The page he had opened was completely filled - even the margins - and yet he was still crossing out words and replacing them with more fitting ones.
Namjoon, who knew that Jimin's shift ended over an hour ago but hadn't heard from him, chose to pay his friend a visit at work to make sure everything was still in order. Obviously, from the looks of the scene displayed before him, this was the right idea.
"No, I'm honestly not really sure why I even asked." Namjoon chuckled, letting out a soft sigh before pulling out the barstool next to Jimin. He observed the page his friend was writing on, the words all looking rushed and messy as they were scrawled across the page. "It's about Jungkook, isn't it?"
Jimin breathed out a deep exhale, looking to the side and meeting Namjoon's gaze. He didn't even really need to say anything after that, because all of the emotions in his eyes told the whole story.
"Why wouldn't it be?" Jimin answered softly, reaching over to pick up his glass and take a swig of his third drink of the night. "I knew from the first words he spoke to me, that I shouldn't get involved with him. He's not what I need, but I think I tricked myself into thinking he is."
He swirled his glass around, the ice cubes in his drink clinking around. Namjoon didn't reply, waiting for Jimin to get everything he needed to off of his chest before he did so. "I knew he wasn't relationship material, but I wanted to believe that he'd change for me, you know?" Jimin looked down at his notebook. "He wanted me to believe that too."
Namjoon raised an eyebrow, leaning on his elbow.
"What did he do, Jimin?" He asked, blowing a few brunette strands of hair out of his eyes. "You catch him with someone else?"
Jimin shook his head, feeling grateful that he didn't get it that bad.
"It's hard to explain... but some girl called him while I was over at his house. She had a bunch of hearts and stuff in her contact name. This was right after telling me I was the first person to get his phone number." He watched as Namjoon raised an eyebrow, not looking too impressed. "It might not sound that bad, but the look on his face was all I needed to know it wasn't just a friend calling him."
Namjoon shrugged, reaching forwards and grabbing Jimin's glass.
"Have you asked him who called him?" He asked, Jimin's eyes widening at his words. Namjoon sighed softly. "You haven't. You're really bad for assuming things, Jimin. Don't you know that'll never work out in your favour?"
Jimin huffed, looking down to the counter below him.
"I feel like sometimes, my assumptions are all I need." He responded. "Saves me from finding out the truth, and hurting myself more."
Namjoon shook his head, looking at his friend with an almost remorseful gaze.
"You've got it backwards." He replied, making Jimin furrow his eyebrows. "Assuming things will only make things worse for you to deal with. Besides, for all you know, you could've completely misread the situation."
Jimin frowned, closing the notebook in front of him.
"I don't think I did."
"But you don't know."
-
It honestly wasn't hard for Hoseok to end up convincing Jungkook to come to the bar with them.
In all honesty, the drummer had kind of been looking for an excuse to get drunk that wouldn't be associated with him moping about Jimin. He wouldn't lie and say he hadn't been dwelling over the fact that Jimin had ghosted him, and a night-out with friends was just the excuse he needed to drown his sorrows.
It only took him an hour until his vision started to go blurry.
"Cool hair."
Jungkook's gaze snapped up, his head spinning for a split second due to the sudden movement. When his eyes finally adjusted again and his head stopped spinning, he was met with a gaze that made him feel dizzy all over again.
He had drifted away from his bandmates awhile ago, and so it wasn't surprising that he was met with a stranger.
Stood in front of him, clad in all black and fishnet tights, was a very pretty girl staring at his with an expectant smile. A tight black dress hugged her body, fitting like a glove to each an every one of every curves. Her hair was jet black, looking like silk as it flowed pin straight all the way down her back. "Blue's my favourite colour."
And though he tried to stop himself from looking, his drunken mind steered his gaze downwards, and her proportions had him near drooling.
Oh god, maybe he should have stayed home.
"Same with you." Jungkook nodded, scanning his gaze across the new face. Her eyes were lined with sleek black liner, and her dark brown irises glinted. Jungkook's vision swayed slightly, but he could make out a hoop pierced through her plump bottom lip. Jungkook licked his lips and dragged his tongue across his own lip ring. "How long did it take to grow it out that long?"
Why was he even flirting with her? Honestly he couldn't tell you. It was if his mind was on autopilot, drunken words stringing together into compliments.
Maybe, he just liked the attention. It was boring to be drunk alone, after all.
Jungkook couldn't help it as his gaze dropped downwards again, eyes feasting themselves on her cleavage presented in tight black fabric. It had been a little while since he had been with a girl, his fingertips were basically itching to smooth across all of her curves.
"Am I that boring?" Her slightly sarcastic voiced snapped Jungkook's attention back up, where Jungkook met her unimpressed gaze. It seemed that he had been caught staring. "Or are you just that eager?"
Jungkook's eyebrows shot up, and he bit his lip as a smirk spread across his face. He let out a sheepish laugh at being caught. She watched him expectantly for an answer, gaze not faltering as she reached forwards and picked up her drink. Her fingernails, painted matte black, clinked against the glass.
"I'd say speechless." Jungkook replied with a smile, watching as his words caused her to grip her glass just a bit tighter. It was subtle, but it made him smirk nonetheless. "It's not often someone who looks like you comes up to someone like me." The black haired girl looked down, brushing a few pieces of hair behind her ear.
"What's that supposed to mean?" She asked, before taking a sip of her drink. Her lipgloss left a sticky stain on the glass, and it had Jungkook wondering how it tasted.
Jungkook shrugged, holding her gaze and resting his head on his hand. His whole body was buzzing with warmth, and his vision was swirling in ways that made the girl in front of him seem so enticing.
"You're really pretty." He answered bluntly, his words causing a pink tint to slowly creep up her neck. The five (maybe six?) drinks he had before this were definitely lending a helping hand with the confidence, easily flirting his way into this girl's mind. She set her drink down, folding her hands in her lap. "I probably would have been coming up to you, if you had just waited a bit longer."
She raised an eyebrow, before letting out a soft laugh.
"Well, then I wouldn't have left an impression." She answered, then picking up her glass once more and finishing the rest of her drink. Jungkook chuckled, before looking over to the bartender and waving him over to them.
Jimin doesn't have to know about this. Jungkook thought as the girl beside him ordered two more drinks for them both. It was the first time that his drunken mind decided to remind him of his actual current love interest-but it wasn't beneficial to think about right then, and so the drinks blocked it out just as quickly as it had surfaced.
They weren't even dating, so even if he did find out, it wouldn't matter.
It shouldn't matter.
The black haired girl squealed happily and clapped her hands once their next drinks were brought out, and Jungkook laughed softly before reaching forwards and grabbing his.
This didn't mean he didn't like Jimin, because he knew that he did. If he didn't, he wouldn't still be having thoughts about him when sitting next to one of the prettiest girls he had ever seen. It might have been the alcohol, maybe it was his own skewed morals, but he just couldn't bring himself to turn her down.
She had a look in her eyes that told Jungkook she would lead him to a fun time, and she bar lights shone off of her glittering skin enticingly.
Jimin wasn't here right then, but she was.
That won the argument, for Jungkook's intoxicated mind, and he tossed back another shot of vodka that he definitely didn't need.
