Jimin would be lying if he said his heart didn't drop when he woke up alone.
It took a moment for him to fully remember the events of the night before, but his mind soon flooded with images of how the night played out between him and Jungkook. It began with when they met at the bar, and ended with Jungkook tucking him into soft clean sheets.
The last thing he remembered was drifting off to sleep with his head on Jungkook's chest, the younger male having a satisfying post-sex cigarette as tiredness took over his body as well. He remembered Jungkook's free arm wrapped around him, and his steady heartbeat lulling Jimin to sleep.
But where was he now?
Jimin wrapped Jungkook's blanket around him, still completely nude from the events of the night before. He shivered, sitting up and sliding over to the edge of the bed. Jungkook was nowhere to be seen, and the clothes he had stripped off last night were gone as well.
A twang of hurt struck Jimin's chest. He was really hoping that he didn't just get used for a one night stand. He did like Jungkook more than that, and he definitely wouldn't mind seeing him again. Was it stupid to think that he might have had a chance with Jungkook?
Jimin sighed, standing up and then immediately falling back into a seated position as his knees gave out on him. He grimaced and brought his hand around to rub his lower back soothingly. He probably should have expected this, Jungkook had done a number on him last night.
"Let's try that again." He whispered to himself, beaching himself against the bed and forcing his shaky legs into a standing position. Jimin slowly made his way around the room, collecting his clothes off of the floor so that he could dress himself.
He found everything except for his shirt, and huffed, hands on his hips as he stood in the middle of Jungkook's room - disgruntled and shirtless. Jimin finally gave up, and decided that he could ask later as he approached Jungkook's closet.
He opened the closet door, met with the view of various white and black t-shirts and lots of pairs of ripped jeans. Jimin chuckled softly, before picking out a random black shirt and pulling it out of the closet.
Taking a look at it before he put it on, Jimin's lips curled up into a soft smile once he realized it was homemade merchandise for Jungkook's band. The name of their band was ironed on and cracking, but it was cute, and Jimin tugged it over his head. His nostrils were flooded with the smell of laundry detergent, but the cigarette undertone still remained no matter if it had been washed or not. It just clung to him.
Jimin sighed, smoothing out any wrinkles on the shirt, and then brushing down his unruly hair. Again, where was Jungkook? This was his house. That fact made the bedroom door Jimin stood adjacent to extremely nerve wracking.
If Jungkook wasn't outside, he'd definitely be bummed out about it - as that would show Jimin he probably wanted to end things here. If he was out there, then what? They talk about it? Become friends with benefits? There were just too many unknowns surrounding opening that door, and Jimin drenched his shaky hands into fists.
He wasn't ashamed of what he did with Jungkook, and he definitely didn't regret it. Jungkook was somebody he had been secretly lusting over for months before they first spoke, of course he was going the sleep with him. But deep down, he did still hate one night stands, and it still hung over his head how not fun it was to wake up alone.
Why did Jungkook have to be so attractive?
Jimin took in a slow deep breath, holding it for a second, before exhaling in a big sigh. Namjoon had once told him to do that if he was feeling anxious or overwhelmed, and right now he could confidently say that he was feeling both. "Just go out there." He whispered to himself softly, before nodding once and forcing his body to walk in the direction of the door.
Then, he opened it. And he was met with voices.
"Jungkook. You disappeared without saying goodbye or telling any of us where you were going! And you didn't help pack up! And you didn't answer any of our phone calls or texts! Are you trying to get us to think that you died?"
The voice that rang through the apartment was frantic, but at the same time Jimin could tell that whoever it was were trying their hardest not to be extremely mad at Jungkook.
"Yoongi, you know me. I was just having a bit of fun after a show." Jungkook's tired voice followed in reply, his words gravelly and thick with sleep. It was evident that he probably hadn't woken up that long ago either. "Couldn't you just assume that I might have skipped out on the after party to take someone home?"
Jimin tip toed out of the bedroom door, not closing it so that he didn't make any noise. He leaned against the doorframe, crossing his arms over his chest as he listened in on the conversation.
"I usually do, but you also usually answer you texts and confirm it." The other voice countered, before sighing softly. "Whatever. Anyway, did you?"
"What?" Jungkook replied.
"Take someone home? Or did you just get tired and skip out on after gig drinks because you're lazy?" The other voice teased, and Jungkook must have punched him or something, because the two of them burst out into a set of giggles.
He felt so childish, hiding behind a wall so that he could eavesdrop on their conversation. But... The conversation was about him, so he definitely had the right. Right?
"I did. Remember that guy I was telling you about a little bit ago?" Jungkook replied. Jimin's heart pounded and he squeezed his hands into fists beside him. Jungkook had been talking about him? "I invited him to our show last night. Needless to say... things went well."
Jimin could just picture the smirk that was painted across Jungkook's face, if his tone of voice was anything to go by.
"I bet it did." The other voice laughed. "You gonna see him again?"
"I hope so." The words that Jungkook breathed out in reply had Jimin's breath stuttering, his heart fluttering in his chest. He sounded so dreamy when he said it - smitten almost. "He works at south coast bar, you know - the one we played at like a week ago?"
Jimin just couldn't help himself anymore. He held his breath, before quickly peeking his head around the corner to catch a glimpse of what he had been listening to. He ducked in and out in seconds, but it was enough time to see Jungkook clad in nothing but a pair of grey sweatpants as he leaned up against the side of the couch. He also saw who he had been talking to - a blonde haired male.
If Jimin remembered correctly, he was pretty sure that he was the bassist for Jungkook's band.
"He's a musician too, y'know." Jungkook added after a few moments of silence. "Apparently his band's going to compete against us in that battle of the bands thing."
Jimin heard the bassist hum in approval.
"He's in a band?" He asked. "What's he play?"
Jimin heard Jungkook chuckle softly.
"Didn't tell me, but I'm gonna guess singer if last night was anything to go by." He answered slyly, his words bringing a red tint rising to Jimin's cheeks. It would stupid to ask Jungkook to not talk about him to his friends, but man was it embarrassing to hear it first hand.
Perhaps eavesdropping wasn't the smartest idea, but Jimin often learned lessons like this after the fact.
"Yeah, yeah, I get it." The bassist groaned in annoyance. "Spare me the details."
"He's still here, by the way. Sleeping beauty hasn't woken up yet." Jungkook spoke, and Jimin's eyes widened. "That's like, the entire reason I didn't want you barging in here."
Jimin was done being antsy, realizing that the situation wasn't just going to magically become easy for him the longer that he stood here. He couldn't wait until Jungkook's band mate left either, because he would most definitely get spotted when the blonde haired man walked over to the front door.
He took in a deep breath, before smoothing down the T-shirt he was wearing and shaking out his hands.
Then, with anxiety bubbling in his stomach, he turned the corner.
Jimin made sure to be obvious, purposefully kicking a pen that was on the ground to make noise and draw attention to him without having to say anything. Quickly, both heads were snapping towards him, and he watched as a grin spread across Jungkook's face.
"Speak of the devil." Jungkook smiled, gaze lingering on the oversized T-shirt that hung off of Jimin's frame. "Morning, gorgeous."
Speechless at the sight before him, Jimin left the room in an awkward silence for a few long seconds before he was replying.
"Good morning." He answered, trying to maintain eye contact with the taller male.
Grey sweatpants on his legs and his torso bare, all of Jungkook tattoos were on full display for Jimin to gawk at. The ink winded and twisted around his muscles, accentuating the natural curvature of his body almost too well. The sleeve he had spread up his arm and dispersed onto his shoulder, like a beautiful infestation was corrupting his skin in the most wonderful way.
Last night he got to see them, but now when lit by the rays of the morning sun, every line and colour was so much more clear to appreciate.
His hair was extremely messy as well, sticking up at every angle possible and yet still managing to look enticing.
Jungkook in the morning, was officially one of Jimin's favourite versions of him.
"Didn't mean to surprise you with a visitor so early." Jungkook's voice brought him back to reality, and he tore his gaze away from the taller male's tattoos. "This is Yoongi, he's our bands bassist."
The blonde male waved lightly with his hand when Jimin looked over to him.
"I only came over to make sure Kook was alright after you stole him from us." Yoongi smiled softly, but it didn't go unnoticed how his gaze kept flicking to Jimin's neck. Jimin hadn't seen a mirror since he woke up, but he could vividly remember what it felt like when Jungkook nibbled on his skin - so he could only imagine the sight Yoongi was looking at.
Yoongi fished around in a pocket for a second, before pulling out a pair of car keys and swinging the key ring around his index finger. "Don't worry though, I wasn't planning on staying. So you two can have the proper cutsey morning you would've had if I didn't interrupt it." He smiled cheekily, and Jimin couldn't help but laugh softly.
It was nice that Yoongi was trying to lighten the awkwardness in the air by cracking small jokes. This situation was one that he definitely wished he could have avoided, but at least it seemed to be working out slightly in his favour.
"It's alright, really." Jimin replied, brushing a few stray pieces of hair out of his eyes. "It's nice to meet you. I've seen you play quite a few times; you're scary good with that bass sometimes."
Yoongi's eyebrows shot up, and the small smile on his lips stretched into a full blown grin.
"You think so?" He asked, and Jimin nodded. "You ready to compete against me then?" He crossed his arms over his chest, keys jingling in his hand. Jimin knew immediately that he was talking about battle of the bands, and the question was definitely a good one.
The competition wasn't that far away. Was he actually ready to compete against their band?
Jimin gulped, his gaze flicking between Yoongi and Jungkook, who were both staring at him with curiosity in their eyes.
"If I was worried, I wouldn't have complimented you."
