Gorge was freaking out, not only because he was late but because this is probably going to be the most stressful and important thing in his life. Once he had finally arrived at the park it was 12:57 and he began to worry Karl had just left. Although he didn't regret it much, he had such a good time hanging out with Dream and his hoodie was really comfortable and it still smelled like him. He shook his head of the thoughts and went to look for Karl, sure enough a few feet away was a man with big goggles on top of his head and a multi color hoodie and of course his little coin pouch for his gears. "Georgieeee your late" Karl teased "yes I'm aware, care we just talk about the elephant in the room" George sighed "wow eager are we? And we're not in a  room so that analogy doesn't work" Karl replied smiling to himself George just stared at him with an angry expression. 

"Ok so let's talk about this whole situation, I'll tell you all I can, nothing more, and certainly nothing less" Karl said toying with a gear in his hand "so do those open the portals" George asked pointing to the gear "yep! They take years to make I'm lucky I have so many, there are different sizes of gears, very tiny ones are for traveling 1-20 years in the future or the past, medium ones are for 20-40 years, and the big ones- well you get it but to travel more than that you have to have either more than one person, or combine all the gears, to travel months you also use the small one you just think of specific moments or places you want to go and then it'll take you wherever that is, as long as you have the right gear of course" Karl replied "so how do you make it work?" George asked "well first, you have to be permitted to create portals, the gears won't work if your not, second, you just throw it on the ground and think of your place and boom! You step in and your there" Karl smiled, he loved explaining everything, George just nodded in response, actually understanding, he had always been into mythical things and magic so it wasn't that surprising to hear how it worked. 

"So what were you sent here to do?" George asked "well to make sure a certain course of events happens, if not the planet will be out of balance and bad things will happen, and it has to do with you" Karl said "yeah no pressure" George mumbled under his breath "Listen I've done this a thousand times ok? It works every time there hasn't been a single failure!" Karl boasted "I'll make sure everything goes smoothly that's my job! I write everything that happens in this journal" he said pulling out his journal "you can't read it because it has future events in it but that's what it's for" Karl said "that's so cool but scary at the same time"George said which made Karl laugh. Karl looked down at his watch and an expression come over his face, "oh I've gotta go but I'll be in touch when I need you! Just stick around and don't do anything stupid!" He said walking backwards facing George but walking away "no promises!" George yelled back and Karl just shook his head and took off. 

As crazy as this whole thing was, George was pretty ok with it all, he understood why Karl is stalking him now and he didn't care about the details, because as long as everything was going smoothly, he was ok. A little shocked sure but who wouldn't be?
