Chapter 22:

The war of lies

Special Note: This chapter is quite long but I hope all readers will read it carefully because this chapter is very important and might help the readers to understand the storyline of arc 4 of this book.

[P.O.V] Benjamin de Guzman (Benjie)

[Meanwhile at university cafeteria]

[Lunch-break]

"Hey, Kevin, Where's Kai and our other friends?  Why they didn't join us to eat in the cafeteria." (I asked Kevin while he taking his lunch in front of me.) 

At that time, when I asked Kevin about the whereabouts of Kai and Gun, he starts acting so strange.

"Ahhh... about that... Your boyfriend (Kaito), Jelai, and Gun are in the teacher's faculty office because our teacher called them to inform Kaito, Jelai, and Gun about the upcoming university intramurals day." (Kevin stuttering told me as acting so weird.)

"Wait, Our teacher called Kai and Gun about the upcoming intramurals day? but why? as I recall, Kai and Gun aren't one of the student's officers in our classroom." (I ask Kevin as I drinking my Ice coffee.)

"Well, about that too, because of the upcoming university intramurals day. Our teacher asks Jelai and Gun to join the taekwondo and debate competition on the upcoming intramurals day so because of their busy schedule for their training and preparation for the competition, Jelai asks a favor to Kaito to become a temporary class president until the end of the intramurals day." (Kevin stuttering told me as he starts become sweating.)

At that moment, after I heard what Kevin told me, I was suddenly felt sad, and as I recall, Kai and I have been officially dating for almost half a month.

But even before we became official in a relationship, I considered Kai as my boyfriend since childhood, even though there were times when I wanted to give up on Kai.

but I still choose to be real and believe in myself and give my heart to Kai.

Even then and now, I still can't forget the day that Kaito told me that he loves me under the sunset and the moonlight. The moon and the sun witnessed our love story, a love story that I want to treasure for the rest of my life. 

While I was thinking about how much I loved my girlfriend, I suddenly stood up and quickly pulled my backpack to the empty seat next to me, and after I got my backpack, I decided to go out to the university cafeteria to look for Kai within the university.

"Hey, Benjie! Where the hell are you going?" (Kevin quickly asks me as he quickly stops his lunch to follow me.)

[P.O.V] Kaito Almasen (Kai)

[Atm at university hallway]

"Gun and Jelai, where exactly are we going? I thought the three of us would talk about how we could save Benjie from the new student petition against him." (I ask Jelai and Gun as we walking in the hallway.)

"It's more dangerous for us if we discussing our plans in any crowded places like our classroom and university cafeteria because we may not know that Joseph has an ally in every corner of this university so we need a place where we can discuss to carry out our plans against Joseph and his friends." (Jelai told me as she walking beside me.)

"Oh... I see but where's Kevin? I thought he will join us to carry out our plans." (I ask Jelai as she walking beside me.)

"I instructed Kevin to keep an eye on Benjie to make sure Benjie wouldn't find out what we were doing and now, we headed to the person who would help us make our plans." (Gun told me as he walking beside me.)

"Wait, Who is the person who can help us to save Benjie?" (I asked Gun as I was confused about who was the person he was referring to who could help us.)

"You'll find out later who the person I'm referring to is." (Gun told me with a smirk.)

After five minutes of walking... the three of us arrive in an abandoned classroom within the university but before we enter the abandoned class, I thought to ask my friend about it.

"Wow! this is the place you are referring to? this place looks so cool." (I spoke to Gun as I try to remove the spider webs in the outside window of the abandoned classroom.)

After I remove the spider webs on the window, I decided to peek at the window to see the inside of the abandoned classroom but when I put my eyes on the window, I was suddenly scared and startled when I saw Terrance and Dianne inside of the abandoned classroom.

"What's up, My future son-in-law." (Terrance greets me as he waving his hand.)

"Good afternoon, Kaito." (Dianne greets me as she smiles at me.)

"Wait! Why Benjie's older brother is here? and  why is he wearing our university uniform?" (I whispery and stuttering asked Gun.)

"This morning, I decided to lend him my old uniform and steal his old student ID from the student affairs office so he could get into our university, besides, he's the only one who can help us in this situation that's why, yesterday when you send the location of Terrance's condominium building, I quickly went to his location to ask for help and I know in myself that Terrance's intelligence is the only key for us to save Benjie from this mess." (Gun whispery told me.) 

"But have you forgotten that he's Benjie's older brother... and what if he told Benjie about the new student petition? And if that happens, Benjie will be angry with us and because of the anger he feels,  all students studying here will be affected and get into trouble." (I told Gun.)

At that moment, as I talking to Gun, Terrance suddenly went out to the abandoned classroom and said:

"Don't worry, Kaito, I already made a promise to Gun that I never gonna tell Benjie about the new student petition against him but if broke that promise, I had a reason why I broke that promise but for now, I don't want to happen to Benjie what I experienced when I was still studying here at this university and I'll do everything to save him." (Terrance told me as he smiles at me.)

After Terrance say those words to us, Gun suddenly asked Terrance.

"What are you talking about? Is there's something bad happen to you when you still studying here?" (Gun asks Terrence.)

"Yeah, Same question and also, I thought you were busy taking care of our father's businesses here in the Philippines." (I asked Terrace.)

But at that moment, Instead of Terrance gives us an answer, he just suddenly smirks at us and said: "Gun... Can you please tell me everything I need to know about Benjie's new student petition against him?" 

After Gun told Terrance everything happens for the past five days, Gun and Dianne suggest to Terrance that I need to join the student inspector organization to ask Third Alcantara about why he help Joseph and Irene to expel Benjie from this university but after Terrance heard what Gun and Dianne planning to do, Terrance quickly disagree of Gun and Dianne's plan.

"As far as I know and as the former school council president of this university, it will take three weeks before the head of administration accepts Kaito as a new member of the student inspector that why, I disagreed with Gun and Dianne's plan but base on the information I heard from Gun's investigation, Gun and the guy named Jiro went inside of the university at night just to investigate about Benjie's new student petition but while they were investigating, they were almost caught by security officers, which means, there's a big possibility that the security officer who almost caught Gun and the guy named Jiro already report the incident to the head of the administration and if the head of the administration already knows the sneaking incident, there's a big possibility that the head of the administration ordered all the student inspector to patrol  the university every night to secure and catch those people who sneaking inside of the university at night and if the student inspector patroling the university tonight, there's also a possibility that Third Alcantara will join to patrol the university tonight." (Terrance spoke to us.)

"In other words, you want us to raid the university tonight to face Third Alcantara? but how can you be sure that all student inspectors in this university will patrol tonight just to check the entire university." (Jelai asked Terrance.)

"To be honest, I'm not sure about that but let's give it a try, we need to raid this university tonight to check and confront one of Joseph's allies (Third Alcantara) but before we going to raid the university tonight, we also need useful companions who are strong enough to protect each one of us if student inspectors try to caught us and hurt us." (Terrance spoke to us.)

"Well, I think I can fight and Jelai is also good at taekwondo so both of us can help and fight if the student inspector tries to hurt each one of us." (Gun told Terrance.)

"But as I recall, there are a lot of student inspectors herein the university tonight that's why I suggested that we need one more person to join our raid plan to secure our safety." (Dianne spoke to us.)

"Yeah, this beautiful witch (Dianne) who sits beside me was right, we need a substitute for Jelai and Gun in case of an emergency, we can't handle those a lot of student inspectors that why we need a substitute to accomplish our first goal." (Terrance said.)

"Thank you for your compliment MR. WIZARD KING!" (Dianne told Terrance as she was slightly annoyed at Terrance.)

While we were thinking about who else could help us with our plan... Jiro suddenly came to my mind, so I suggested to Terrance that Jiro would help us raid the university tonight.

"Wait! I think Jiro can help us like what he did me and Gun." (I told Terrance with a smile.)

"But even if that person helped all of you about the new student petition against Benjie... that person is still an ally of Joseph so I will not allow him to join our plan." (Terrance told me with his serious face.)

"Yeah, you're right that Jiro is one of Joseph's allies but these past few days, he made the right decision to correct his mistake that's why he decides to help Gun by saying what he knows about the new student petition against Benjie, so please allow me to include him in our plan because I believe that Jiro will help us to accomplish our first mission." (I told Terrance.)

*Heavy breath* (Terrance.)

"Okay, I'll give this guy an exception BUT we still need to watch his actions because each betrayal begins with trust." (Terrance told me with his serious face.)

After a long conversation, Gun, Jelan, and I went to the cheerleading clubroom to talk to Jiro about our plan to raid the university tonight and as the three of us heading towards the cheerleading club, we coincidentally saw Jiro went out to the cheerleading clubroom.

"Wait, What are the three of you doing here?" (Jiro asked.)

"Okay, Guys, Jiro and I are now friends so leave this to me." (Gun spoke as he acts to approach Jiro to ask for help.)

"Wait, Gun... I want to talk to Jiro just two of us so please leave this to me." (I ask Gun as I quickly grab his hand to stop him from approaching Jiro.)

"Okay but if you need help just call me." (Gun told me as he phones hand sign to me.)

After two minutes, I approached Jiro to talk to him but instead of directing him what I aimed at him, I invite him to the rooftop of the university so we can talk privately.

"Jiro, I'm sorry if I yelled at you the other day, I know in myself that I made a mistake criticizing and judging you as a bad person but despite all the bad words I said to you before you still chose to correct your mistake by telling me and Gun the whole truth about Benjie's new student petition so I'm so sorry and I hope you forgive me." (I told Jiro as I looking at nowhere from the university room.)

"There's no need to apologize, Kaito because all that happens between us is just a consequence of the action I took when I agreed to Joseph's plan to take Benjie away from the university." (Jiro asking me with a slight smile on his face.)

"But, even so, I still want to apologize to you for what I did the other day because I don't want someone to feel angry with me, especially you, I don't want us to quarrel for something." (I told Jiro.)

At that moment, after Jiro heard what I said to him, he suddenly laughs at me

"Especially me? How romantic, is this means that you have feelings for me?" (Jiro asks me as he tries to making fun of me.)

"NO! that's not what I mean! I just want to apologize to you because you're my friend." (I stuttering told Jiro as my face turned red.)

At that time, after Jiro heard what I said to him, he suddenly gives me slight smile on his lips that I never saw from him before, a beautiful smile makes me pause for a second.

"Kai? Are you still there? Did you hear what I asking you?" (Jiro asks me.)

"Sorry for spacing out, Can you repeat what you said earlier." (I ask Jiro as I scratching my head.)

"I said, What your reason why do you want to talk to me, Is there anything I can help you with?" (Jiro asks me as he looks at me.)

"About that, my friends and Benjie's older brother want to raid the university tonight to face Third Alcantara, but we can't raid our university without your help so, I invite you to join us so that we can successfully confront Third Alcantara about his reason why he helps Joseph and Irene to expel Benjie from this university." (I told Jiro.)

"Wait! Benjie's older brother? Do you mean Terrance de Guzman, the former university school council is here in our university?" (Jiro stuttering asks me as he was surprised by what I said to him.)

"Yeah, what's wrong? Did you know him?" (I ask Jiro as I feel confused about his question to him.)

"Not really but I attended this university since grade school that's why I know him but as I remembered, Benjie's older brother is blacklisted from this university." (Jiro told me.)

"Blacklisted in this university? in what reason?" (I ask Jiro.)

"As I remembered, the school director of this university named Armando de Castro accused Benjie's older brother as a fake honor student because, during that time, there's humor within the university that Terrance is just an intelligent student because of his father connection in the university which his Benjie's father is one of the shareholders of this university but there's some student knows the humor that spreading within the university is just a fake humor made by Mr. de Castro to expel Terrance from this university but let's change the topic, Does Benjie know that what are you doing right now?" (Jiro told and ask me.)

"He's clueless and my friend and I decided to hide this situation from Benjie because that is a huge problem if we let him know about this new student petition against him." (I told Jiro.)

"But I going to honest with you... Confronting Third is an extremely risky plan because that guy is so powerful because the entire student inspector is with him that's why I'll not let you do what you are planning to do." (Jiro said to me.)

"But my friend and I have no choice to take a risk because that's the only way we can think of to help and save Benjie... because if we face Third Alcantara, there's a big possibility that we can change Benjie's fate." (I told Jiro as my voice felt upset.)

"But..." (Jiro.)

At that moment, I suddenly grab Jiro's hands.

"Please, I begging you, this is the only way I can think of to save Benjie from the people who had bad intentions against him... and now, I give you time to think until tonight and if you want to help us, let's meet outside of the university tonight." (I beg Jiro as I holding his hands.)

After a long conversation with Jiro at the university rooftop, I decided to went back to my friends.

"Kaito, Did Jiro agree that we need his help in our plan tonight?" (Gun asks me.)

"Same question." (Jelai asks me as she walking behind me.)

As I act to answer Gun and Jelai's question, Terrance suddenly spoke to us.

"Let's not force him if he doesn't want to join us in our plan tonight because of your relationship with Benjie." (Terrance told me as I walking behind him.)

"Wait! How did you know that Jiro has feelings for me? I mean I'm not too sure if he really had feelings for me." (I suddenly ask Terrance.)

"Well, Dianne told me everything happens from the first student petition you made for Benjie until the day that Benjie and you become an official couple." (Terrance told me as he walking.)

After I heard what Terrance told me, I suddenly quiet and remembered all I did for Benjie, and because of that, I suddenly feel guilty and upset because from the start, I'm the one who made that first student petition against Benjie and because of the action I took, the people who had a bad intention to Benjie used my idea of my old student petition to expel Benjie from this university.

As I overthinking as I walking with the upset feelings in my heart. Terrance suddenly talking to me as he walking.

"Kaito, You don't need to feel upset and blame yourself for what you did to Benjie at the beginning because I believed that everything that happens in this world has a reason and your reason is completely valid for me besides, even though Benjie is my half younger brother, I still didn't like his stubborn and bully personality." (Terrance told me.)

"I agreed with Terrance, this isn't all your fault, Kaito... so don't blame yourself, Okay." (Gun told me with a smile on his face as he walking beside me.)

"No matter what happens, Kaito... all your friends were here for you and I believed we can save Benjie from those people who had bad intentions to him, so don't give up!.. Let's keep fighting okay until we reach our goal to save Benjie, Okay!" (Jelai told me as she cheers at me.)

"Thanks, Guys." (I told them as I slightly smile.)

After I thank my freinds to cheer me up, I suddenly heard Benjie's voice from behind us.

"Kai!" (Benjie yells my name as he running towards me.)

"Benjie?" (I startled as I quickly turn around.)

"Thank God, I finally found you." (Benjie told me as he was exhausted from running.)

"Sorry, Kaito, I didn't stop him from finding you." (Kevin told me he feels exhausted from chasing Benjie.)

"That's, Okay, we already settled everything and you did a good job so don't worry." (I told Kevin as I pat his shoulder.)

While Benjie feels exhausted. Terrance suddenly waves at Benjie and when Benjie saw Terrance, he is suddenly startled.

"What the hell! What are you doing here? and where did you get that uniform you wore right now!" (Benjie asks Terrance.)

"Gun lent this to me so I can get in here and also, I want to visit this lovely place once again." (Terrance told Benjie with a smirk.)

"But how about our father's companies." (Benjie asks Terrance.)

"I already managed all of that last night using my laptop." (Terrance told Benjie.)

"Really?" (Benjie asks Terrance.)

"Yeah, You want proof? You want me to call Dad?" (Terrance told Benjie with a smirk.)

"No. You don't need to do that, I already believed in you." (Benjie told Terrance.)

Five hours later,  after our class schedule ends, Benjie suddenly talks to me to ask something. 

"Kai, Can we go out tonight, let's have a dinner date tonight... My treat." (Benjie asks me with a smile.)

After I heard what Benjie told me, I suddenly paused for a second because I don't know how to answer his question but luckily, before I answer Benjie's invitation to have a dinner date with him, Gun suddenly approach me to help me out but I decide to face Benjie without anyone's help.

"I'm sorry Benjie but I'm quite busy tonight for the upcoming university intramurals day so let's reschedule the dinner date but don't worry and I promised, If I resolve this situation that I bravely face right now, You can stay and live with me whenever you want... so be patient and wait for me until my time became ours again." (I told Benjie as he holding his hands.)

After Benjie heard what I said to him, he suddenly gives me a chuckle and smirk.

"You don't have to promise to me anything, Kai, because I am always here for you, Kai...  to love you and understand your situation." (Benjie told me as he pats my head like a puppy.)

After Benjie and I exchanged words came from our hearts... Some of my classmates were suddenly quiet and speechless after what they heard from Benjie and me but after a few seconds, some of my classmates suddenly scream and feel fluttered because of the excitement they felt caused by the romance between me and Benjie.

As my classmate was happily chatting about what they heard from Benjie and me, There was something dark inside me, I felt guilty because I lied to Benjie many times.

I lie after I lied, my white lies are getting darker and darker... The darker the white lies are, the more painful the consequence is... But... If this is the only way I can save Benjie then I'll face the consequence because If I'm capable of risking everything just to save the person I love, I'll do it for Benjie.

[P.O.V] Jelai Vellanueva

[Time 5: 10 PM]

After all my classmates went home, I decided to lock our classroom so I could go to my taekwondo training class five minutes later as I was on my way to my taekwondo class at the university gymnasium, I was suddenly startled when someone suddenly grabbed my left-hand goes to an empty classroom next to my classroom and the person who grabbed my hand is Benjie.

"Benjie, What are you doing here?" (I stuttering asks Benjie.)

As I asking Benjie, I suddenly saw Gun waving at me inside the empty classroom.

"Well, Kaito and I's first monthsary as boyfriends coming up so I need your help to make a surprise for him." (Benjie told me as he gives me a smile on his face.)

"Oh... that's great so what can I help you with?" (I ask Benjie.)

At that moment, as I asking Benjie... Gun suddenly show something to me and that thing was a guitar.

After I saw the guitar that Gun's holding, I suddenly feel goosebumps as I told them.

"Wait, don't tell me we're going to sing a song for Kaito?" (I stuttering to ask them as I get nervous.) 

At that time, Gun and Benjie suddenly make a weird smirk at me.

[P.O.V] Kaito Almasen

Five hours passed

[Time check] 10:43 PM

[Meanwhile at the outside of the university near the gate]

"Geez! Where's that guy (Jiro)! Does he have a plan to come and join our plan?" (Dianne spoke as she feels annoyed at Jiro.)

"Where's the guy! (mimicking) Geez! No one forced you to join us here so keep quiet, Bitch!" (Kevin mimicking Dianne.)

"What did you say!" (Dianne angrily asked Kevin.)

As Dianne and Kevin arguing like a child... Terrance suddenly spoke to me.

"We need to start our plan without him, Kaito because it seems that guy (Jiro) had no plan to help us." (Terrance told me.)

"Terrance was right, Kaito... so let's start our plan before it getting darker the night is." (Jelai told me.) 

"Hmm... Okay." (I told Jelai as I feel upset for waiting for Jiro.)

After five minutes, Gun immediately called Mr. Camacho to tell him about our plan, and after Gun talked to Mr. Camacho... Mr. Camacho secretly let us in the university.

"Thanks, Gramps." (Gun thanks Mr. Camacho.)

"Your welcome." (Mr. Camacho responds to Gun as he pats Gun's shoulder .)

After all of us got inside of the university, we immediately looked for the student inspectors and after ten minutes of searching, we overhear strange noise coming from the university gym and at that moment, Gun suddenly stopped and looked out the window of the university gym.

"They're all here." (Gun spoke as he secretly looks in the window of the university gym.)

"Where's Third Alcantara there?" (Dianne asks Gun as she secretly looks in the window of the university gym.)

"The guy in the front who wearing glasses." (Gun told Dianne as he secretly looks in the window of the university gym.)

"Oh, My... he's kinda attractive and hot." (Dianne spoke as she felt desired to Third Alcantara.)

"Geez... I'm even more handsome and hot than that guy." (Kevin spoke as he secretly looks in the window of the university gym.)

After Dianne heard what Kevin said, She suddenly chuckles at Kevin.

"Really? Where's the handsomeness your talking about?" (Dianne told Kevin as she criticizes Kevin's look.) 

After Kevin heard what Dianne told me, they start arguing again.

"Hey, Guys! this isn't the right time for the both of you to act like a kid so please be professional." (Gun scold Dianne and Kevin.)

"I am so sorry." (Dianne and Kevin.)

After Gun scolds Dianne and Kevin, he suddenly asks Terrance.

"What's the plan, Terrance?" (Gun asks Terrance.)

"Wel... You, the taekwondo girl (Jelai), and Kevin need to ambush and fight with those punk (Student inspectors) so that Kaito, Dianne, and I will catch Third Alcantara." (Terrance told Gun with a smirk.)

"Are sure about that? that plan is too risky for us." (Gun told Terrance.)

"I agreed with Gun." (Jelai told Terrance.)

"Well... We have no choice and that's the only way I can think of for us to succeed in our first mission so trust me with my decision." (Terrance told Jelai and Gun with a smirk.)

After I second.

"Okay, Guys, Get ready and put on your cap and face mask because we will now go inside the university gym just to confront Third Alcantara." (Gun ordered us he prepares his face mask to put in his mouth.)

After Gun says those words...  he, Jelai, and Kevin quickly went to the university gym to ambush Third and the student inspectors, and when the three of them went inside the university, all the student inspectors were suddenly startled as they quickly act in the defense move.

"Who are you? Who among you is giving permission to enter here at the university at midnight?" (The student inspector.)

"We? hahaha, We're the Revenge Squad, and we're here for Third Alcantara." (Kevin yells as she pointed to Third Alcantara.)

"Me? What do you need from me?" (Third asks Kevin with his serious face.)

After Kevin says those words, one of the student inspectors suddenly recognized Kevin's voice.

"Wait!? that's voice, I know that voice, that voice was one of Benjie's friends named Kevin." (One of the student inspectors said.)

"Are you sure?" (Third ask his fellow student inspector who recognized Kevin's voice.)

"Yes, Sir! I'm so sure because I already arrested Kevin Lee several times for doing things that are forbidden in our university and I know that voice is from Kevin." (The student inspector who recognized Kevin's voice told Third Alcantara.)

At that moment, after Terrance heard those conversations from the student inspector, he suddenly takes a heavy breath as he feels ashamed of Kevin.

"I think I made a wrong decision to include Kevin in our raid plan, Tsk!" (Terrance spoke as he feels ashamed of Kevin's actions.)

After a few seconds,  my friends immediately ambush the student inspector but the student inspectors immediately fought to arrest Gun, Jelai, and Kevin but while my friends were trying to beat the other student inspector.

Terrance suddenly spoke to us.

"Guys, Prepare yourself because we're now going to join the battle." (Terrance spoke as he preparing himself to enter the university gym.)

After Terrance say those words, the three of us immediately went inside the university gym to catch and confront Third Alcantara but when we try to catch him, he suddenly acted to hurt me but unexpectedly.

"Sorry, Kaito... I'm late for the party." (The mysterious guy wearing a mask told me as he covers me to protect me using his body.)

"Wait! that voice... Is that you..." (I spoke as I laying on the floor while I staring at the mysterious guy's eyes.)

At that time, before I say the mysterious guy's name... Third Alcantara suddenly pulls his mask.

"Who the hell are you?" (Third spoke to the mysterious guy wearing a black mask.)

When Third Alcantara uncovers who's the person behind the mask, he was suddenly surprised by what he saw.

"Jiro? What the fuck are you doing here!" (Third Alcantara angrily asks Jiro.)

"I am no longer the guy you know." (Jiro smirk to Third Alcantara.)

After Jiro says those words, I suddenly punch Third on his face but after Jiro hits Third's face... Third Alcantara suddenly spoke to Jiro with his fierce look.

"No one can beat me in just a single punch." (Third Alcantara told Jiro as he gives Jiro a scary and fierce look.)

After Third say those word to Jiro, he furious beat Jiro using his strength.

At that moment, when I saw Jiro getting beat by Third Alcantara with his fellow student inspector, I furiously approach Third Alcantara to help Jiro but as I trying to approach Third Alcantara... Some of his fellow student inspectors suddenly block my path but at that moment, no one can stop me that's why I didn't hesitate to hit them but even though, I bravely beat them, my strength wasn't enough to take them all that's why when Dianne saw me having a hard time from fighting, she suddenly ran away to find substitute things to beat Third's minion, and after a minute, Dianne found a baseball bat within the university gym.

"Kaito, please catch this baseball bat." (Dianne yells at me as she throws the baseball bat towards me. )

But unexpectedly, when Dianne threw the baseball bat towards me... Terrance suddenly jumps and catches the baseball bat.

"Sorry, Kaito but this is my fight." (Terrance told me with his fierce look.)
