Chapter 16
Gauravi's POV
The next day when I went to the hospital, I told Mihir, Roohi, and Vihan about the conference.
" Hey, it is such a good idea, I also want to go but I don't have any conference there and can't take the vacation. " Roohi said.
" Gauravi, why don't you just attend the conference and come back, save the leaves for later, we are going to get married in a few months then we can use the leaves for the honeymoon. I want to go on a honeymoon for a month in Europe. Paris, Switzerland... " Mihir said.
" Oh, no, I want to see places around Bengaluru, especially, Hampi and after going to Bengaluru, I would not be able to resist going on a trip. And don't worry about the leave, I will talk to Dad and Vikram uncle. We can have a leave for a month. "
" But I will worry about you being alone there. " He argued.
" I can manage on my own. Don't worry about me. " I assured him.
" We know, he is more worried about the people who will have to tolerate you being on your own. " Vihan said and burst out laughing at his joke Mihir shook his head immediately.
" No, don't listen to him, he is an idiot," Mihir said.
" That he is... " I said.
" Jokes apart, it would have been so much fun if we all were going. " Vihan said, Roohi nodded immediately.
" Hmm, definitely, but we all can't go so... Be happy for me. " I said. They all smiled and hugged me.
Roohi and Vihan left after that and Mihir held my hand in his and kissed it. I am going to miss you. " He said getting sad.
" Hey, don't be like that. I will be back soon. And you can talk to me over the phone. " I said. He pulled me in a hug when we were alone.
He had been my friend forever, and Vihan and he must have hugged me many times but somehow I felt no difference when they hugged me. I never felt anything for any of them. It never bothered me earlier but it had started bothering me that I never felt anything whenever Mihir touched or hugged or even kissed me after our engagement.
I was so comfortable with him and was sure that I would be happy with him but I wanted to feel that a girl feels when she is engaged... That cute romantic feeling... That acceleration in the heartbeat when your fiance says or does something romantic. Anyway... Mihir was very nice and romantic. I don't know why he was blushing all the time when he was with me. I also wanted to feel that way.
But then just before going to Bengaluru, I accidentally came to know about the feelings of Tami about Mihir.
When did she start feeling something like that for him? What amazed me was that I didn't feel bad or jealous or any possessiveness for him, in fact, I felt bad that she was in love with him and he was in love with me.
It was complicated and I wanted to talk to mom about it as she was extremely good at such matters. She understood all such things very well. So I decided to talk to Mom after coming back from there.
At Bengaluru...
During the radiology conference in Bengaluru, I immersed myself in the world of medical advancements and cutting-edge technology. The conference provided a platform for professionals like me to gain insights into the latest developments in radiology.
I attended various sessions and keynote speeches, absorbing knowledge about advancements in imaging techniques, diagnostic tools, and treatment modalities. Renowned experts in the field shared their expertise, presenting case studies and discussing breakthroughs that had the potential to revolutionize medical imaging.
One of the highlights for me was a session on artificial intelligence (AI) applications in radiology. I learned about how machine learning algorithms were being employed to enhance the accuracy of diagnoses and streamline the interpretation of medical images. Excited about the prospect of incorporating AI into our practice, I engaged in discussions with fellow attendees and speakers to gain a deeper understanding of the practical implications.
Apart from attending lectures, I explored the exhibition area where leading medical equipment manufacturers showcased their latest products. The state-of-the-art radiology equipment on display fascinated me, and I eagerly discussed the features and benefits with the representatives. I also took the opportunity to network with professionals from diverse backgrounds, exchanging ideas and establishing connections that could potentially contribute to my professional growth.
Throughout my time in Bengaluru, I kept in touch with my dad ( also my mentor )and colleagues back in Delhi, sharing key insights from the conference and discussing how the new knowledge could be applied to our practice. Despite my dad's absence at the conference, I felt empowered by the opportunity to represent our family in the field of radiology and contribute to the exchange of ideas at a national level.
So enriched with the wealth of knowledge, a network of professional contacts, and a renewed enthusiasm for her work, I eagerly shared my experiences with my colleagues and my dad through Google Meet disseminating the valuable information I had acquired during the conference.
My trip to Bengaluru not only enhanced my professional expertise but also allowed me to explore my passion for both medical advancements and cultural exploration.
I was also in touch with my friends, especially Mihir, constantly. As the conference concluded, he requested me to return to Delhi once again as he said that he was missing me.
However, because of my interest in exploring the surrounding areas, I extended my stay in Bengaluru to make the most of her trip. I engaged with a local tour agency to plan a visit to Hampi and other nearby tourist attractions. Exploring the historical and cultural richness of Hampi provided a welcome break from the conference, allowing me to unwind and appreciate the beauty of Karnataka.
They gave me an itinerary for a five-day trip.
I slept early that night as I was excited for the trip, the next day.
The morning sun cast a warm glow on Bangalore as I prepared for the journey that would unfold over the next five days, carrying me through the cultural and historical wonders of Karnataka. A sense of anticipation filled the air as I carefully packed my bag, each item selected with the promise of discovery and adventure.
Clothes, neatly folded and chosen with the dual purpose of comfort and appropriateness for diverse settings, found their place in the suitcase. Flowing fabrics for the exploration of ancient ruins in Hampi and practical attire for the road trip to Chitradurga—my wardrobe was a palette reflecting the spectrum of experiences I was about to encounter.
Amidst the clothing, I tucked away essentials like my travel journal—a companion for capturing the nuances of each moment. Its pages, blank at the beginning, would soon be adorned with the stories of Karnataka's landscapes and the tales whispered by the stones of Chitradurga Fort. A camera, nestled beside the journal, awaited its duty as a visual chronicler, ready to freeze in time the beauty that would unfold before my eyes.
In the heart of my bag lay the guidebook, a gateway to the historical narratives etched in the walls of Chitradurga Fort. Its pages hinted at the stories of warriors and kings, promising to transform mere stones into living, breathing tales of the past. Though guide services weren't guaranteed at the fort, I embraced the prospect of wandering through its passages, imagining the echoes of history with each step.
Practicality met style as I considered the day's needs. A water bottle, a lifeline against the heat of the day, secured its spot, ensuring hydration amidst the historical odyssey. A wide-brimmed hat, not just a shield against the sun but a statement piece, completed my ensemble. It promised shade as I traversed the rocky hills of Chitradurga and strolled through the ancient ruins of Hampi, adding a touch of flair to my exploration.
Comfortable shoes, carefully chosen for the day's journey, awaited their moment to tread the paths of history. I envisioned them traversing the sprawling Chitradurga Fort, each step resonating with the echoes of centuries past. From the imposing doors to the intricate carvings at the main entrance, my shoes were poised to dance through the history embedded in every stone.
As I zipped up my bag, I felt a sense of readiness and excitement. The tangible weight of anticipation rested on my shoulders, mirrored by the weight of the packed essentials. The bag, now a vessel of preparedness, embodied my eagerness to immerse myself in Karnataka's cultural richness and historical tapestry.
