She was counting all the steps he had taken 

Before she was shaken 

by that incident. 

They never saw it coming, 

They were only holding hands in the morning,

When the car lost control - screeching.

He knew he couldn't let his one and only 

Be taken away - leaving him moaning. 

So he pushed her out of the way 

And got his soul stolen away 

By the grim reaper leading the way. 

She never thought he would leave her astray,

Begging on her knees for him to stay.

Weeks turn to months and months to years,

She couldn't get the sound of his voice off her ears

'You're worth it'  he said.

The three words haunting her in her sleep

But instead of pain, it brings her peace. 

His love for her 

Protects without a fail - it becomes;

The strength to live on.

Never once letting go,

What they used to hold. 

She knows she needs to stay strong

To find her happiness alone

To live in a world without him.

No matter how difficult the road is,

She's content with the fingerprints he left - on her heart that will always be his.
