Snowdrop
I met her in the Summer,
Her golden hair in braids that glitters,
Along with her delicious tan skin
Under the warmth of her sun,
I was blinded by her deceptions.
Who knew it wouldn't last all seasons
Like the sunflower; she withers,
And was blown away
By December.
Here comes the girl from winter,
Craving your cold embrace,
You made me shiver
But you have my heart since November.
A warm dry ice that kept me in place
The Snowdrop that blooms in the coldest season,
Keeping us firm together -
While during the summer you lean on me
For I can break down all the walls you put up,
To keep your smiles and laughs
All to myself
And mine to you.
Thus in every season,
The good and the bad,
We accept it all holding hands.
You're my girl for every season.
Explanation
It is always easier to love someone at their best and at the greatest moment, which is, usually at the beginning of the relationship. But it takes perseverance and patience to really embrace someone at their worst and hold their hands to get through the terrifying storm.
Snowdrop is a flower that only blooms during the winter. I feel like this is such a beautiful metaphor, showing that the guy (narrator of this poem) is able to find all the good things in her, even when they are going through difficult times together, being an argument or having a disagreement. Their relationship blooms - meaning it strengthens instead of weakens, during critical moments.
