Chapter Three
Skye awoke in a dark room, she bolted upright and immediately regretted it. Her head throbbed unbearably. Was she dead? Was this how death felt? Were Blaise, Luke, and Alice going to die and join her? Skye reached up and gingerly touched the back of her head, there was a large lump, the size of a walnut. Could you feel pain after death? What if she wasn't dead? Was this all just a bad dream and Blaise was still with her? No this wasn't a dream, it was a nightmare. A nightmare she had been living for half of her life. And it was a reality. A lump formed in the back of her throat. Would Blaise, Luke, and Alice escape without her, would they die in the hands of Desmos, or were they already dead?
Why couldn't there be a simple explanation? Why couldn't she know if Blaise was okay? Was it really too much to ask for? She couldn't even think about Blaise looking for her, never being able to find her. Maybe Blaise would find her body. Maybe he had already found someone to replace her. Maybe he had forgotten her. Maybe he hated her. She hadn't done anything to save them. She hadn't even tried to find them.
But of course, Maybe-s and questions would get her nowhere. She didn't know anything. If she had at least tried to save them instead of wallowing in self-pity, then maybe things would be better. Maybe she would have already had him back, or at least knew whether he was alive or not. But of course, she hadn't.
Her thoughts wandered back to the fact of whether she was alive or not. She probably wasn't dead since she could still feel pain. She studied the door. It was wooden, so old the smell of rotting came from every crevice of the door, save the metal doorknob.
She was about to get up when the door creaked open on rusty hinges. Skye looked through the doorway, scared for her life. A boy came in about her age. He had blue-green eyes like Blaise and curly bright-red hair that fell into his eyes. He was handsome, putting it simply. His pale skin stood out in the pitch blackness of the room, his ocean-esque eyes swirled with color. He looked like Blaise, except older than the last time she had seen him. Was this Blaise? The boy stood in the doorway silently. The tension in the room was so high you could almost see it.
Finally, Skye said "Where am I? Are you working for Desmos? Why did you save me? What do you want from me? What's your name? Are you Blaise?"
When the torrent of questions stopped, the boy laughed, a quiet, rumbling sound. The boy said, "Okay, okay, I can only answer one question at a time." so then he began answering each question. "You are in my home, just south of the border to Regna Terrae. No, I don't work for Desmos, in fact, my brother has been captured by Desmos." he paused, making sure Skye didn't have any more questions. Then he continued. "I saved you because you can help me save him, I don't want anything from you except for your help. No, I am not Blaise" finally answering the question she had been waiting for.
"Wait a second, what happened to Akiran?" Skye asked panicked. Suddenly Akiran came bounding into the room and jumped into her arms.
The boy laughed. "Anything else?" He asked.
" What's your name, and what's your brother's name?" Skye asked abruptly.
"My name is Lux, and my twin brother's name is Blaise"
Skye's vision blurred as her brain tried to process all the information she just got. Lux is Blaise's twin? Blaise has a twin?
