Chapter One
It had been two long years since she'd last seen Blaise. Skye longed to be with Blaise again. She missed the way Blaise's blue-green eyes sparkled when he looked at her. She missed his laugh, his voice stumbling over words. But he had been taken from her, just like Luke and Alice, and Skye had done nothing to save them. She didn't even try that night. A wave of guilt washed over her, bringing tears to her eyes. She had to live with that guilt now.
Skye was in a forest. Emerald light filtered through the treetops, as she picked through the brush. She emerged from the forest basking in golden sunlight.
After two years of waiting, feeling guilty, and being sorry for herself, roaming the woods with no place to go, she finally had a destination, she knew exactly where she would go, even though she didn't have a clue where that place is, all she knew was it was somewhere. Now she absolutely knew she would see Blaise again. Unless he was dead, but he had to be alive, he just had to. Skye stopped in her tracks.
She looked back at Cymatilis, mesmerized by the long flowing rivers filled with crystal clear water and the blue-green ocean, the same color as Blaise's eyes. This was her home, she would miss the small picturesque villages with the small colorful houses that she grew up in. But she knew she would have to let go of this place if she was going to save them.
But the one thing she wished she could forget was the guilt that came with this place, the place where Blaise was taken. If she could forget, then maybe she wouldn't have to feel the sorrow, the pain, and the feeling of loss that came with this place. But, if she did then she would have to forget Blaise, Alice, and Luke.
Skye wished she could see Blaise again. To see if he was alive. Then they could rescue Luke and Alice together. She didn't think she could take it anymore without at least trying to help. She had felt the pain for years, and now she was going to do something.
Skye knew she had to keep going so with one last look she kept walking. It would take her days to cross into Regna Terrae, the earthen kingdom. So she had to hurry, she just hoped she could find where Desmos' base was. It was probably surrounded by guards, but she wouldn't know for sure until she saw it.
She sighed. Soon she would see Blaise, he had probably given up on her, he probably thought that she abandoned them and forgot all about him. She wished she had a way to communicate. She wished she could see him again, but she told herself to be patient. It was only a matter of time.
Skye continued her trek to the earthen kingdom. Soon the sun was low over the faraway trees. Skye spent a couple of minutes scouting for civilization, but the only things she saw were trees and waves crashing onto the sandy shore. So she started to set up camp in a small grassy clearing overlooking the ocean when she heard a rustle in the trees.
She looked up, startled and saw big blue eyes staring up at her. It was a wolf, but it was too small to be an adult. He was an orphan, like her, all alone. It was the cutest thing she had ever seen, with its big blue eyes, the color of the sky and his gorgeous black fur. He looked up pleadingly and Skye just couldn't resist leaving it all alone. The pup leaped into her arms and snuggled into her neck. Skye decided to keep him. You need a name she thought I'll name you Akiran.
Skye finished setting up the bright yellow tent. Before bed, Akiran jumped into her tent, and when she tried to shoo him out, he stubbornly stayed. Skye went to bed early, but couldn't sleep for a long time. When she did fall asleep, dreams of Blaise plagued her. It was a restless night, but she awoke to a wolf sleeping on top of her. At first, she almost screamed, but then remembered his adorable face. Skye smelled smoke, something was on fire. Skye stepped outside into the smoke-filled air. Tall pillars of flame surrounded her. She couldn't breathe. Before she could do anything, she fell unconscious.
