Chapter Nineteen

Big thanks to annie1loves1you for the amazing cover!

Memories kept Blaise awake more than usual. Every time he closed his eyes, his old room danced under his eyelids. He missed his old house, his old friends, his old home, his old family.

Blaise shifted so he could face the wall. It was a blank, dreary, boring grey. Just like my life.

I can't sleep. Blaise thought, getting up. He changed into his clothes and walked out of his room.

Blaise walks down the hall and stops when he hears the sound of wind, no, more like a tornado. Yet he didn't see anything abnormal. What's going on?

Blaise continued down the hall. He kept walking. He stopped at Desmos' cabinet. There was a blue light leaking through the cracks beneath the door.

Blaise hesitated, his hand hovering above the doorknob. Should I really be doing this? He thought.

Without a second thought he opened the door.

The wind howled, as Blaise was nearly swept off his feet by the wind. It howled louder than anything he had ever heard.

Time seemed to stop. The howling seized. The wind stopped blowing. All that was left was an eerie silence.

In place of the howling storm was a soft mist. It felt bliss and cool. At that moment he felt like maybe everything would be okay.

He forgot that he was still a captive. He forgot that Skye was dead. He forgot that Luke and Alice were somewhere far, far away. He forgot about Desmos.

Speak of the devil.

Blaise finally noticed who was standing right in front of him. Desmos stood in front of him. Just as imposing as ever. His yellow eyes narrowed. The scales on his face gleamed a reflected turquoise from the odd blue light,

"What are you doing in here?' he sneered. Obviously knowing the answer.

Blaise pressed himself against the wall. "What is that?"

"You should know."

Memories envelope Blaise. Memories he had repressed again and again.

Desmos's men taking him, Alice and Luke into the forest. The same blue mist they were in now.

The mist enshrouding them. Walking through the mist for hours on end before they reached a door. A door that led them here. Into this very room.

"Where are you going?' Blaise asked curiously.

"To see your siblings," he replied, an odd gleam in his eyes.

Luke and Alice?
