Chapter Nine
A strong gust of wind pulled Skye up in the middle of her fall. She flew up, surprised. Just as she was about to fall back down again two strong hands grabbed her by the waist and yanked her back to the ground.
Skye had never been able to control her gifts. She had only somewhat been able to control her gift of water. She had had no control over her gift of air. Unlike Blaise, who was able to control his gift since he was nine. Lux was standing behind her. She turned around to face a grinning Lux.
''You survived' was all he said Skye turned around and blushed a deep scarlet red.
"You saved me" she smiles.
Lux grinned back. "I never knew you had the gift of air" he commented.
Skye shrugged "I can't control it anyway".
"What's your other gift?" Lux asked genuinely. "Water" Skye answered, wondering why he was so curious "interesting" he mutters under his breath.
"What"? Skye asked when she notices Lux staring at her
"Nothing," Lux says hastily. Skye narrowed her eyes at him but stayed silent. A silence overcomes them, both lost in thought until finally, Lux pipes up. "What are you thinking of?" He asks
"Can't I get a second to be thankful that I'm not in a ditch somewhere?" Skye teased. She was lying. Skye was thinking about how she almost thought Lux was Blaise. Skye was thinking about how different they were. And how they were similar.
Skye saw the disbelief in his eyes. And yet, somehow, the smile still reached his eyes.
Skye looked over to the other side of the bridge. "Are you done reminiscing about the 'good ole days'? Lux jokes.
Skye nodded as she approached her horse.
