Crack #3
Lucy:
My vision is hazy and the only sounds I hear are all too familiar. Work. It's the sounds of beeping machines and codes being spoken over the loud speaker in Denver Health. My eyes lightly flutter open, and I see white. My hands are impaled with IV's.
"Work...?" I ask out loud, my voice cracking.
"Yeah, unfortunately." A person sighs, walking into the room.
"Ah, and what do I owe this pleasure Dr. Brandish?" I giggle.
"How about the fact you're tired achey muscles made it hard to walk, and you fell from over exhaustion causing your head to hit a sharp edge and cause you to pass out for three days? And the fact I had to babysit your 7 year old of a husband?" Brandish cackles almost evilly.
"Back up, three days?" I screech, throwing my hands to my head.
"Lucy-"
"Where's Natsu? Is he okay? What did Eileen do!" I squealed, fearing Natsu wasn't here.
"Uh...look to your left?" Brandish points.
I look to my left, seeing a peaceful sleeping pinkie, to be exact, my pinkie.
"Thank the heavens." I breathe out, my hand held to my heart.
"Calm Lucy, or you'll pass out again."
"How long has he been here?" I ask.
"Hasn't left."
My eyes soften at the sleeping figure to my left. His pink hair falls over his eyes, shadowing the bridge of his nose, and his lips sit untouched and cracked. His pink hair is a mess, and from what I can tell, he has large black bags hanging under his eyes.
"Have I caused him pain?" I cry, looking back to Brandish for an answer.
"Lucy, pain is not the same as worry." Brandish says, changing some of my IV's.
"How long till I can be discharged?"
"I'm afraid you're stuck here for another 2 days." Brandish sighs, "But don't worry, I'll bring you fast food."
After a while, Brandish finishes and is paged to another room, with another patient, with who knows what. When I should also be out there, doing the same thing and working along side her. But no, I'm stuck here in this hospital bed, due to my own stupid and immature actions.
"Go back to sleep..." I mutter to myself, laying back down.
"You need energy to get back on the job."
"You need energy to help Natsu."
Yes, while it may be true that I had changed Natsu lots in high school, my efforts have only begun, and he has yet to see it, but I do.
His world, it's always been black and white, and even the most glorious shade of gray can send him to his worrisome state, and his walls, oh his walls.
Natsu, he's always been such a "keep to himself" type of guy, meaning his walls were always well fortified with the toughest kind there is. Which is why, in turn, I'm still here to save him.
Save him.
In all honesty, the reason senior year had happened at all is because I was sent there. I was sent there with one thing in my head from my foster-dad, Jude.
"Save him." He coughed, "Save Natsu Dragneel."
And I'm glad I did, because Natsu, he is by far the most important thing in the world, at least, to me.
