Crack #2

Lucy:

My legs started to numb after a while, causing Natsu to freak out, while I sat there, calling my co-worker, Brandish to tell her I wouldn't be working today.

"Hello?"

"Hey, it's me, Lucy. I can't come to work today, I don't feel well." My voice shakes unevenly, trying to contain the will of asking for help.

"Alright, I'll tell Eileen, just get some rest. Feel better soon!"

"Thank you Brandish! Bye!"

"Bye!"

As my finger hovers over the end call button, the call ends itself, because of Brandish. Leaving me to deal with my screaming banshee of a husband.

I sigh loudly, "Natsu, please calm down."

"How?" He asks urgently.

"Deep breaths ring a bell?" I shake my head jokingly, trying to calm him down.

"Lucy, how can I? You can't move!"

"I can move, it just hurts.. well kinda. I can't feel my legs anymore." I shrug it off, scooting closer and closer to the edge of the bed.

Natsu growing scared by each little scoot I make, is there, bent down on the floor and his face full of utter shock and fear.

"And what the hell do you think you're doing?!" He screams.

"What? I'm hungry!"

"Please! Let me get it!"

After expressing my complaints for over 20 minutes, I give in and let Natsu get me a plate of food from the kitchen.

"Here we go,"

Natsu gently sets down a platter filled with chocolate waffles, covered in sappy syrup and strawberries, my favorite.

"Thank you!" I beam, smiling gently.

"Okay, I'm going to go call in, because there is no way I'm letting you ignore this."

"What?"

Natsu sighs, "I'm taking you to the hospital Lucy. This time I'm going to help you."

I sit there, my hands releasing the fork and butter knife from my grip, releasing the loud sound of clashing metal.

After all these years, and he thinks of the one thing he could use to keep me from getting up. He uses the excuse of our senior year in high school.

"Natsu." I speak, shaking my head.

"I love you, but you don't owe me anything."

"And you call me dumb. Lucy, I owe you the world." And with that, Natsu walked out of the room, cell phone in hand and shut the door behind him.

As he left, I pushed the platter aside gently, careful not to spill my delicious breakfast on our bed. I can do this. My legs slowly moved their way to the edge, inching ever so closely to the floor, and the tingling feeling in my numb muscles sent shivers through my body.

My feet touched the floor, and my hands pushed off the bed, lifting me to my feet. And as soon as the moment happened, it ended. The last thing I remember, is falling and hearing Natsu scream my name like I had lost my life.
