The light were all turned off, the windows were closed and our classroom door was firmly shut. I couldn't see a single thing; Yoohyeon held onto me, worried she'd fall out of her chair if she didn't. I didn't quite know what my father was doing. I wasn't afraid of the dark and nightmares for me didn't come from the dark either. I didn't understand until his instructions continued.

"Now this is a common nightmare that many people have." He said, "I have picked one person in your class to go and be the receiver for our first live nightmare."

I was suddenly worried, receiver of the first live nightmare? What was that supposed to mean...

"Uh... Lee Siyeon?" He said.

It had been a while since I had heard him say my name. Almost too long, it sounded wrong when he said it. It had been one of those moments when I realized the man I used to call "father" was now only a man who was lecturing my class. It was a hurtful revelation, but ten years of disappearance doesn't just go away..

"Yes?" I responded, in a voice sharp and crisp, as if his appearance hadn't affected me at all.

"This may be a little scary, but you will the tester for our live nightmare. Of course this isn't a real nightmare, but only a stimulation that you and your class will be running." Mr. Lee said, so formally, so cold.

"Oh, okay." I said, ignoring everything about him that bothered me.

"Great, now Kim Yoohyeon, you will play the savior." He said.

Yoohyeon, who was still clinging onto me in the dark started cracking up.

"Me? The savior? AHAHAHAHAHA. I'm pretty sure Siyeon would rather die than get saved by the Yoodiot." She said, making me laugh along with her.

"Oh please, go be my savior you weirdo." I said, mostly because I had an I idea of what was going to happen and Yoohyeon was the only one I was comfortable with playing my savior.

"Perfect." Father said, "Now, Siyeon, are you ready for a live nightmare?"

"Yes." I replied. I had dreamed a million nightmares, one live one wasn't going to kill me.

"OKay, for the rest of the class I ask one thing. Your teacher has messaged you the directions through the class group chat, please take a quick peek at those and the nightmare shall begin!" Father said.

I hadn't realized how much the lights of everyone's phones resembled glowering eyes until now. There were so many around me. It felt unusually like I was being watched.

"Everyone all read up?" He asked.

The class responded in one ominous voice, that was when the slight fear began to arise within me. I was anxious of course. Nightmares were a big part of my life; in fact, nightmares probably had become my life at this point.

"3... 2... 1... go." He said.

It was dark, but I could feel Yoohyeon gone and my classmates approaching me, but they felt less like people and more like hands. I was terrified I knew what was coming.

Each person reached out to me, some of their touches soft, others rough and some simply felt like nothing was touching me, but their presence was there. Then they all started begging, high, panicked and anxious voices all yelling at me at once.

"Free us, Siyeon!'

"Save me!"

"I don't want to disappear."

"Let me out."

The words kept flying at me and by instinct I croaked back at them.

"How... Tell me how..." It was quiet so no one heard me, but there was something in me that told me that my father knew, it was unpleasant.

Eventually my peers had gotten too close. Their hands reached all over me and that feeling of drowning came and I didn't know what to do. I knew what was next, I wanted Yoohyeon to hurry up, god at this point I think I needed her to hurry up.

Then there it was, a light. In reality I could tell it was just her phone flashlight, but my god It was relieving, I expected Yoohyeon to come bounding up to me, asking me if I was scared. Someone did come up; She seemed too much like the girl in my nightmares. It was such a soft whisper, and I expected it to be what I had heard every night in my head.

"Siyeon, the stimulation is over, get a grip." Yoohyeon's voice rang through my ears and the world around me became clear again.

I wasn't sure what had just happened but I was beyond glad that the live nightmare was over.

"H-how long as it been over..?" I asked, my voice trembling for some unknown reason.

"Siyeon, it's been over an hour. You wouldn't wake up after I turned my flashlight on. I've been trying to wake up up!" Yoohyeon, the most worried expression on her face, "We're in the infirmary. Mr. Lee, or That-Bastard as I'm calling him left thirty minutes ago, apparently he's coming again during this unit."

My body, was trembling, more than my voice. My father had just done something to me. I wasn't sure what, but it had done something. I felt odd.

"Siyeon, tell me honestly. Why did you do that?" Yoohyeon said, sincerely worried.

"What?" I sputtered out.

"Siyeon, be lucky I got you out of that room and into the infirmary before anyone saw you." She said.

"Saw me what?" I asked.

"Siyeon, seriously?" Yoohyeon said, shocked.

"Yoohyeon just hurry up and tell me!" I slightly yelled.

"Siyeon, you were laughing like a maniac. You were cackling, saying you'll be free soon." Yoohyeon said.

"What?!" I replied, shocked.

"Your exact words were, 'Soon I'll be alive again, free again, and the world will bleed at my fingertips.'" Yoohyeon said.

"I-I..." I didn't know what to say. I even secretly wondered if this was what I did every night during a nightmare.

"Siyeon, also... Mr. Lee left you something, he told me you were going to need to win." Yoohyeon continued, "Win what? I'm not exactly sure."

"What did he leave?" I asked.

Yoohyeon then proceeded to show me the most beautiful dreamcatcher I had ever seen. It has one larger circle, then three more circles branching out from it; the middle circle went just a little lower than the other two. It's webbing had a light purple string and deeper purple was used for the actual circles themselves, except for the large, main circle, that was black. The feathers that elegantly reached down seemed to be from a bird of an iridescent blue. The middle circle had one large feather and hanging off of it was a butterfly, one of deep purples and blue. There were beads strewn along the webbing and strings of the dreamcatcher as well, they stood out by being a darker teal, almost green. It was amazing.

"Siyeon, can you stop gawking at how it's prettier than you and take it?" Yoohyeon said, waving the delicacy around my face.

I carefully took it from her and held it in my hands. For some reason it gave me a sort of comfort. I mean there was no way this thing was actually going to rid me of my nightmares, but it gave me a sense of relief. It was more meaningful knowing that my father had given it to me.

"God it's really beautiful." I said.

"Yeah, I know." Yoohyeon said, "He seemed very frantic when giving to me."

I sat up from my bed in the infirmary, getting up slowly. My legs were a little wobbly and my head spun slightly as I got up.

"Hey, mind keeping this safe for a second, I'm gonna go to the bathroom." I lied.

"Oh yeah sure!" Yoohyeon said, taking the dreamcatcher back into her hands.

I smiled just a little before leaving the infirmary, not to go to the bathroom, but I just needed to go outside, alone, and get a breather. I stumbled down the empty halls to the courtyard of our school, taking a deep breath of fresh air in gladly. I sat down calmly on one of the benches and closed my eyes.

It was quiet and soft, the whispers.

My eyes shot open realizing there were whispers. Looking around me, I breathed a quiet sigh of relief when I saw someone-- oh wait, my dad, conversing with someone else in a hushed tone. I wasn't going crazy.

I became curious as to who he was talking to, and why he was being so quiet. Yoohyeon said he had left earlier so I wasn't exactly expecting him to be here. Either way, I listening closely, getting a little closer by hiding behind a bush in the most cliche way possible.

"I've done my part." Father said.

"No, you haven't." An annoyingly familiar voice replied.

"You can't keep controlling me!" Father yelled.

"I've controlled you for ten years, I will control you for longer." The voice replied.

"No, NO! You ripped me away from my family that I so dearly loved. I just forced my daughter into a war with you! I've done your bidding, now let me go!" My father desperately cried.

A war with her? Me in a war? I didn't understand the story behind those words.

"I am still trapped inside her head, You're free when I am." The voice replied.

I was beyond confused at this point. Trapped inside her-- wait, my head? What the hell does that even mean?

"Then I hope I'm never free." My father said, his voice laced with anger and something else that I couldn't quite define.

"Then understand I will eat your daughter away from the inside until her dead corpse is my living body." The voice said, "Free me and your daughter will see the rest of her life unfold and I will let the world bleed at my fingertips."

My breath hitched at her last words. Yoohyeon had said that those were the words I had cackled out in that time I have no recollection of. My mind also pondered on how the voice said it'd eat me away from the inside... What could that even mean...

"You can't eat her away now." My father said, his voice confident and unwavering.

"What is that supposed to mean?" The voice said, the first signs of uncertainty appearing.

"I gave her a gift that can trap you forever." He replied.

"You didn't..." The voice said, wavering.

"I gave her a dreamcatcher, she'll rid of you." My father said.

There was a very loud scream from the voice, a scream of anger and agony all together.

"You fool! I will kill her, I will kill you. You will watch as everything dear to you fades away all into a memory you will never recall, but always yearn for." The voice replied.

"I believe in my daughter, she will get rid of you." Father said.

"I will get rid of her." The voice said.

There was a sudden, very feminine laugh that erupted through the supposedly empty courtyard. It reached my core and I felt terrified. I snuck away back into the building, my heart beating rapidly. The voice was too familiar, far too familiar. It felt like something I had heard everyday.

Then it clicked.

The girl in my dreams It was the same. The voice was the girl in my dreams, it had to be. Either that or I was out of my mind. The latter seemed much more probable, however, the former seemed true.

"Hey, Siyeon?" Tami, came up to me.

Tami and I had never really talked much but we were in psychology together. I was confused as to why this conversation was starting.

"Here." Tami said, handing me a book, locked by chains and a skully in the middle.

"The skull twists off and that's how you can remove the chains and open the book." Tami said, "You'll find interesting information in there."

"Why are you giving this to me?" I asked.

"Because I know you Siyeon. I know that was your dad who came in today. I heard you cackling when Yoohyeon took you to the infirmary. I know what's happening to you, but I won't dare say it or my devil might come back." Tami said.

"Wh-What?" I replied, confused.

"Siyeon, I know we haven't talked much, but you aren't going to win any battles if you don't know what you're up against. Read the book, figure out which devil is yours, research them and try to get rid of them, it's for everyone." Tami said.

"Wait wait, Tami, can't you just explain a little more?" I asked, confused, and desperate.

"Siyeon, I can't I don't know what you're up against. No one does. There is one page in that book that is actually two pages sealed together, it's marked with a bright pin sticky note. I never figured out how to split the two pages, but I guarantee to you that if you figure it out, there will be useful information." Tami said.

"I can't any longer, keep the book safe and once you've defeated your enemy make sure to give it someone else who needs it, if not, there could be a war arising. And be careful with the book, there are only 3 copies in the entire world. This one was just luckily in Korean, or it's language changes depending on the reader, I'm not sure-- Anywho. Don't let this book fall into the wrong hands, it could end the world Siyeon." Tami said hastily.

"I won't be in class anymore, so don't prepare questions to bombard me with tomorrow. One devil could make mine return and I don't want to deal with her ever again. Just follow the advice I've told you and I swear to god, be careful." Tami said before rushing away.

Like that she was gone and I was left alone, confused and scared, clutching the book in my hands. I looked down at the dark, chilling book. It gave me nothing but fear and curiosity.

I wonder what it holds...
