Chapter 14: Sunrise Memories

Ruki's P.O.V

I sat on the couch as Lucy started to make coffee. I looked around and noticed that the city looked stunning before it had been filled with people. It had a life of its own. A sea of illuminating lights had been one of the good things about the apartment she had. From it, you could see everyone's story but sadly she couldn't see her own.

As Lucy sat the coffee down and sat next to me, I looked at her.  I didn't know that such a person could be filled with light even though their heart had been aching. If that had been true, would that make her a flickering light?

Lucy's P.O.V

Ruki had been staring at me for a long time but he didn't say anything. Which worried me. Why had he been staring at me like that also what had he been thinking about?

"Ruki-san is there something wrong?" He looked away from me.

"No" We remained silent for a little bit. Which felt strange until I realized something. We barely knew anything about each other.

"Ruki-san?"

"Huh?"

"We knew each other since the end of November and yet we barely know anything about each other." His eyes widened before he looked at me. He looked away from me before he spoke.

"I will tell you about me if you tell me what happened to you the day I met you." My eyes widened at his statement. Of course, he had always wanted to know what happened but I thought he forgot. I really wanted to know Ruki's story and I guess telling him what happened that day would have somehow made him comfortable. I sighed before I spoke.

"That day had been a tough one for me. On that day I found out that my boyfriend for a year and a half had been cheating on me with one of the other female members of our gardening club. Before I could even confront him, he told me that he wanted to break up with me. His exact words were that 'he had found someone better.'  Out of all the things I could have done, I ended up congratulating them and walking away. Never had I felt so broken, so meaningless, so empty." I couldn't help but laugh at the situation. "Why did I fall for someone so careless. I did everything for him and yet he dumped me for someone who could have given him more and now he comes into my apartment saying that he wanted me back, that jerk."

"You're crying you know." I looked at him in surprise.

"I am?" He nodded. I quickly wiped away my tears.

"I'm sorry, I didn't expect to cry."

"Do you remember what I told you?"

"What?"

"Don't cry, it's annoying." I glared at him.

"You jerk" He chuckled at me before he patted my head.

"I like this side of you better." I felt my cheeks heat up in embarrassment.

"But when I am like that, I am more offensive to you."

"So you actually care about how I feel when it comes to you showing anger toward me?" I nodded.

"Yeah"

"Don't" I was surprised, he didn't care about me being angry at him? I felt horrible about taking my anger out on him. If anything it had been wrong and everything against my morals. "What do you know, it's sunrise."
