Chapter 3
My interview you dress was long and red. My long dark curly hair was let down. I was waiting for other tributes to finish their interviews.
"Hello, Sandy." Sam the reactor said.
"Hello, Sam."
"Tell me, aren't you lonely since your the only tribute from District 1?"
"Not really."
"So, how do you feel about being only by yourself?"
"Well, I never thought I'd be in the games. Even if I get picked, there are always people who wants to volunteer so they can be in the games. But this year I got picked and no one volunteered for me." She answered.
"And how do you feel about it?"
"Suprised and a little bit pissed off." She replied.
"Janet, I heard that you're really smart despite being only 12."
"I'm really good at building traps and electricity." She answered.
"I see and can you use any weapon?"
"I can use a knife."
"Lucia, tell me, is there anyone who knows about the Panem more than you?"
"Maybe not about the Panem but about the roads in it." He replied.
"I see and how are you planning to win the games?"
"I'm planning to make a map of the arena and annalise it."
Sapphire looked amazing in her teal sparkle dress. Her light brown hair were in one braid and she had some sliver accessories on her it.
"Sapphire, you did quite well on the skill performance."
"Thank you, Sam. But it wouldn't happen if Autumn from my District didn't help me." She answered.
"I see, that's kind of her."
What Sapphire said was unusual. Tributes aren't spoussed to be friends with eachother unless their family. If they are they shouldn't talk about it in public.
I helped Sapphire which proved that I helped someone who should be my enemy. Although, I'm glad that she mentioned me.
Then it finally came turn.
I got on the stage and shaked hands with Sam.
"Autumn, you look amazing." He said.
"Thank you." I answered.
"Sapphire said you helped her during the training, is that true?"
"Yes it is."
"That's nice of you. Why did you do it?"
"She saved my best friend." I replied.
"Daniel? The guy she volunteered for?"
"Yes."
"Okay, Autumn. Tell me, can you use a weapon?"
"Yes, I can use a bow and I'm also good at fighting hand to hand."
"That's great. District 11 is very different from the Capitol, tell me what changes did you notice?"
"Well, the food. I can actually eat it. In 11, I can't eat the food I make."
The last performance was of Lilith from 12.
"Lilith, it must be crowded since there 12 tributes from your District."
"Yes, it is but it's not thay bad."
"What did you say to your brother after you volunteered for him?"
"That I love him and I'll win for him."
...
I couldn't sleep before the games.
Still I didn't want to leave my room.
I spent the entire night planning what will I do when I get to the arena.
I have to grab food and water. If the bow will be too far away, I won't take it.
It will be me against 77 people.
78 people on the arena.
77 of them will die.
One of them will survive.
...
I was so stressed before the games, luckily Ian was there to say goodbye to me when I was walking into the tube.
"Good luck, may the odds be in your favour." He said.
"Thank you, Ian."
I had a dark purple jacket and a green t-shirt under it. I also had black trousers and brown boots.
I got to the tube.
Focused as ever I looked around when the count down started going down.
The arena looked like a forest but I could see that there was something behind the forest.
I noticed that there was a pack of biscuits near and a sleeping bag near.
The bow was too far away, I decided to leave it for now.
A horn sounded.
Just like most of the tributes, I ran into the Cornucopia. I took the biscuits and the sleeping bag.
Aida from 2, threw a knife at me but I managed to avoid the hit. I took the knife and as I wanted to run behind the Cornucopia, I noticed Ben and Bolt from my District who ran into that direction.
Immediately when they ran there they got electrocuted and their cannons sounded.
It was force field.
It was surprisingly near the Cornucopia, I ran into the forest.
I heard many cannons, still I climbed the tree and rested.
Many tributes ran near my tree but no one noticed me. I spotted that there's a town behind the forest. More like the ruins of the town. I decided to get there later.
I didn't do anything that day, I eat my biscuits and thought of a way to get water.
In the middle of the night there were fallen tributes on the sky.
Girl form 2
Ben and Bolt from 11
Two girls from 4
Boy from 3
Two boys from 5
Boy from 6
A girl from 8
Three boys and one girl from 7
Girl and Boy from 9
Girl from 10
Girl and Boy from 12
19 people are dead by day one.
It means that 59 are still alive.
...
I woke up by hearing a scream and a cannon.
I got off the tree and decided to head to the town. Just when I got up I felt an arrow in arm.
I wanted to scream from pain but I saw Aida from 2 surprisingly without anyone else.
"Look, who is here, isn't the helper girl?" She said.
I took my knife and tried to run.
Aida kicked me in the stomach which made me fall to the ground.
"You're pathetic." She kicked me again and this time I screamed.
When she was about to shoot an arrow at me I noticed couple of ravens on the trees.
They didn't look like normal birds, I saw some of them back in District 11.
They can kill for food.
I threw my biscuits at Aida, she was confused but then she realized why I did that.
The ravens attacked her and started ripping her body as she was screaming.
I waited for them to finish her and when the cannon fired the ravens flew away.
I took Aida's backpack and bow.
In the ruined town I found one of the houses where I could hide in.
I took the arrow out of my arm and tried to stop the bleeding.
Luckily I got a package from a sponsor that had medicine for that.
