Chapter Twenty Five: It's All Happening

"It's alive," I teased Lin as he woke up. He rolled over and groaned, causing me to smile. I sang, "Look around, look around, Lin finish the lyrics cause I know it bothers you."

I saw a twinge of a smile appear over Lin's face, "at how lucky we are to be alive right now."

"Yay!" I clap my hands and cheer not unlike you would do for a child.

"Okay, okay," Lin laughed sitting up, "I'm up, you can stop quoting my show."

"My friend wants me to stop quoting your show, too. I drive her insane," I smile at the memories that often ended with Aya throwing pillows at me.

Lin's eyes lite up with excitement, "I wanna meet your friends!"

"Well," I drag out, "Aya comes back the fourth from California, so when are you free?"

Lin pondered for a moment, "I dunno, V's more of the planner, but I'll mark something down on that Sunday."

I nodded, "Okay, that's chill."

Lin stretched to his feet and cracked his neck.

"Alondra, I'm gonna get us some food, why don't you hang out with the cast? What'd you want?"

"Um. Chicken please, I'm not much of a burger fan, and lemonade," I answer. Mentally, I was thinking about the shenanigans the cast might do today. The said something about cafecito earlier, so maybe I'll try some of that. Lin grabbed his keys, said goodbye, and left me alone in the dressing room. I looked down at the book in my lap, but after I read the same sentence three times it came apparent that I wasn't going to get any further so I closed the book and set it on the desk. I picked up my phone and slide it into my back pocket before going to find Sasha or one of the other wonderful lady swings. Strangely, they weren't in their dressing room, so I took out my phone and texted Alysha:

Lark: Where's everybody?

Alysha: Javi's room. Come join us!

Lark: Okay! I'll be there.

I slide my phone back into my pocket and descended down the staircase to Javi's room. The door was open so I knocked on the doorway. Inside was Ephraim, Daveed, Jazzy, Anthony, Javi, Ricardo, Hope, and Leslie. Everyone's attention turned to me.

"Lark!" they chorused. I waved shyly and stepped inside.

"Hi, everyone."

"Come have some cafecito with us!" Jazzy gestured to an empty spot on the couch excitedly. I took her offer and walk into the room to where she gestured. I'm greeted by Javi.

"Hi, I'm Javier, but you can call me Javi," he held his hand.

I shook his hand and smiled, "I'm Lark, I'm Lin's foster kid."

"I heard about that," Javi turned away to work on the cafecito, "how's that going?"

"Lin and V and Seb and Tobi are amazing and they've been fantastic," I gush. Javi smiled at me and handed me a small cup of this brown stuff. I guessed it was like coffee, I wasn't a big fan of coffee; I've only had two cups of Starbucks in my life. Hesitantly, I took a sip and it tasted like coffee, but a bit better. Based on the hype, I thought it worked immediately, but I didn't feel any different.

"Cafecito, cafecito," Anthony sang.

"Cafecito, cafecito," Jazzy harmonized.

"Yeah, I can't do that shit," Daveed said causing everyone to laugh.

"Do you sing, Lark," Hope asked.

I shrugged, "I do choir, but I'm not in the varsity choir."

"What part?" Ricardo asked.

"I've done two and a half years of both soprano and alto, but I'm going into the all girls choir so I don't know where our director will put me," I rattle on and take a sip of cafecito.

"Where did Lin head off to?" Anthony asked.

"He's getting food, should be back in twentyish minutes," I answer.

Daveed laughed, "Your dad is so fucking busy, it's amazing. Like does he sleep?"

The rest of the cast in the room laughed and agreed with Daveed. I took another sip of cafecito, this stuff just gets better.

"Javi, I think someone likes your cafecito," Jasmine teased.

I blushed, "Yeah, it's really good."

"Yes! Hype up the kid for Lin," Daveed joked.

"Oh, man. That's gonna turn out well," Anthony remarked. I ignored them and finished up the cup.

"Does this stuff really get you hyped up?" I ask doubtfully.

"Yah!" They chorused.

I raised my eyebrows and looked down at the now empty cup, "Well shit, mate."

"I regret my whole life," Daveed muttered.

"Never again," Anthony added.

"What are you guys talking about!" I asked cheerfully.

"No more cafecito for you, Lark," Javi explained.

I furrowed my brows in confusion, "But why?"

Jazzy raised and eyebrow, "You can't stop moving, Lark. You are literally bouncing in your seat."

I am? I looked down. I guess I am.

"I actually don't know what Lin's reaction is going to be to his jacked up kid," Ricardo commented from the corner.

"Either glorious or we're dead," Alysha hypothesised. Oh my god, I'm not that bad, really.

"I don't know why she's acting like this, it's just coffee," Javi said.

"I've only had two Double Chocolatey Chip Cappuccinos before. I'm not a coffee drinker," I said rapidly.

"That's like barely anything," Jazzy said, "This is like her having a really powerful espresso or something."

"We're fucked," Daveed said simply. That reminded me of Totally Fucked from Spring Awakening. God, that's a funny title. I just had to laugh.

"Oh god, it's laughing," Anthony said in fear. Jazzy hit his shoulder and sent him a look. Then my phone rang. Still laughing, I pulled it out. It was Lin!

"Hey Lin!" I greeted happily.

"Hey Lark," he replied sounding confused. Why was that.

"Shit," Daveed muttered, causing me to laugh.

"Alondra, are you okay? Where are you? I just got in the building," Lin said sounding concerned.

"Yay! Food! I'm with Daveed, Anthony, Jazzy, Javi, Alysha, Hope, Ricardo and-" Ephrem made slashing gesture at his neck- "Ephraim. We're all in Javi's room."

"Fuck," Ephraim muttered.

"Okay I'll be there, see you in a bit, Alondra," Lin ended the call. I looked up at the cast who were in varying degrees of fear.

"Run?" Ricardo asked the cast.

"Run," the cast agreed and ran out leaving me alone in Javi's dressing room. That's real nice guys. It's Lin, he's not intimidating like Chris Jackson is.

"Alondra?" Lin called out.

"Present!" I joked. He came into view with a small bag of fast food.

"Alondra, what's up? Where's Javi and the rest of the cafecito gang?"

I shrugged, "They ran off after I got off the phone with you, something about 'hyping the kid up' and 'being f-bombed'."

Lin nodded, "Okay, I'll talk to them later. Let's go eat."

"Okay!" I exclaimed and skipped out of the dressing room. I just had so much energy!

I'm so so so sorry about missing the last two days updates! I've been busy researching for this book and this chapter, although simple, was very hard to write. I'll try to get two chapters out tomorrow.

Anyways, some cast foolery because Lark needs a break. I hope you liked it. Thanks for reading!

Ever yours, hlwing
