Part 7 - Excuse
"This is the trick I promised you," Mick told Damien. "It's more like an awesome shortcut. You know where the crime scene is. You've been there. So you can go there now by imagining yourself in that precise place. Or picture yourself next to Angie. Wherever Angie is, you will go there."
"That's it? I just have to picture myself there?"
Mick started to reply, but Damien had disappeared.

Damien found Angie kneeling at the drain grate. A guy about her age with a CSI windbreaker was next to her, holding a small screen in his left hand and moving a metal cable with his right. The cable connected to the screen and as he moved the cable, the image on the screen changed.
"What is that in the top corner?" Angie asked. The camera moved and after a moment, the auto focus sharpened. The glint of brass she had seen resolved itself into a shell casing.
"Bingo," the young man said. He withdrew the cable and clipped a small attachment to the end of it. "The end of this clip is sticky," he told the detective. "Hopefully it will grab the casing." As he fished out their prize, Angie was writing on an evidence bag. With the shell safely bagged, both officers signed it and it went into a case. The CSI guy made another sweep of the grate but found nothing else.
"I'll get this down to Marlene in the lab." He made no excuse for missing the shell casing the day before. The young man picked up his gear and left.
As Angie answered a call on her cellphone, Mick turned to Damien. "I told you she would figure it out. But I admit, I did nudge her to look here. Sometimes it works. She thinks it's her intuition, and maybe it is, but it ain't a coincidence that she looks in the very spot that I'm sending her."
"Can you show me how to do that?" Damien asked.
Mick gave him a look. "I think it's a father-daughter thing."
Angie finished her incoming call and stabbed at her cellphone. "Andy, Sandy just called me. There is an FBI agent at the Ellis Hotel that wants to talk with me. An Agent Langston. Do you know anything about her? Anything I should know about before I get there?" She listened for a moment and then told him to send Joey to meet her at the hotel.
MIck turned to Damien, "You better ride with her for this one. Trying to jump to the Ellis Hotel might be tricky."
Damien was about to ask why but Angie was on the move. He hustled to catch up.
