Part 11 - Interval
Damien remembered it all; the kidnapping of Melody at Georgetown, discovering the house in Atlanta, the shooting.
Panic gripped him. What day was it? According to the store manager, the women were to be moved on Friday. He had to get there. He had to... what? What could he do?
The room swirled and darkened. The two women continued to talk, but their voices faded, replaced by intervals of moaning and cries for help. Damien smelled smoke.
Then Mick appeared. "I told you the Ellis might be difficult," Mick said. "Come on. Let's get you outta here."
Background on The Ellis Hotel
The 15 floor Ellis Hotel was built in 1913 by William and Grace Winecoff. At that time, it was one of the tallest buildings in Atlanta. Deemed fireproof, the hotel, then known as the Winecoff, was the site of the deadliest hotel fire in American history.
On December 7, 1946 about 3:15 in the morning, fire broke out on the third floor, trapping everyone above that level. 119 people, 30 of them High School students, died and another 65 were injured. Many died jumping from upper levels to the alley below.
It reopened as the Ellis on October 1, 2007. Since then, guests and hotel staff have reported an extraordinary level of paranormal activity; including moans and screams, the sounds of running footsteps, the smell of smoke, and floating pockets of coldness.
