Chapter 2: The Hazbin Hotel

A loud and boisterous young woman swung the grand doors open with excitement. "Oh, hello! Are you interested in redemption?" With her long blonde hair and distinctively rosy cheeks, it was easy to recognize her as Hell's Princess, Charlie Morningstar. "Uh, yeah... sure," Her loud energy took me off guard, making me jump slightly. "Wonderful! Welcome to the Hazbin Hotel! My name is Charlie, and this here is my girlfriend Vaggie!" She ushers me into the front lobby with ease, gesturing to another woman to the side. I gave her a small smile and wave as she glared at me with distrust. There didn't seem to be anyone else here at the moment. My eyes wandered around the room, taking in the eclectic decor before returning to Charlie. Her expression held quite a worried look. Unlike most people in hell, she was incredibly easy to read. She held every emotion and thought on her face for all to see. "Are you alright? You don't look so good." The exhaustion must have been more evident than I thought. "Yeah, It's just been a very long day." I tried to reassure her with a smile, but all I could manage was barely noticeable. "Then I'll show you to your room so you can rest up to meet everyone else tomorrow!" I was certainly not looking forward to socializing. After everything that happened earlier in the day, I am in no mood to be friendly. But for a free place to stay, I can't complain too much. Charlie led me up a couple of flights of stairs before stopping at the end of the third-floor hallway. She holds her hand out to me, what looks like an old skeleton key resting in her palm. "This will be your room! Vaggie and I are just downstairs, so please let us know if you need anything! Oh, it totally slipped my mind! What's your name?" I told her my name as I took the key from her hand, "Thanks, I'll uh see you tomorrow." I unlocked the door and stepped into the room closing the door behind me.

The room was fairly simple. A large bed, a dresser, a desk and chair, and a wardrobe. A large set of windows looking over the city sat on the opposite side of the room. Adjacent to the windows, was an ensuite bathroom. Meaning I wouldn't have to leave the room tonight to avoid any unnecessary interactions. The whole room was decorated with various reds and blacks, fitting for the princess of hell. I dropped my bag on the floor at the end of the bed, I'd deal with unpacking later. I didn't bother with changing my clothes. I didn't have the energy to care enough. Slipping off my boots, I collapse into bed, my exhaustion hitting me tenfold. Not even bothering to properly get into the bed I fall asleep almost instantly.

My head throbs as my eyes adjust to the bright red hue entering through the window, the pentagram above the city shining with its morning light. A reluctant groan escaped my throat as I sat up in the plush bed. My head fell into my hands as I recounted the events of the day prior. Shit. What do I have? Other than a few sets of clothes and some shoes, nothing. I have nothing. I'll have to go shopping soon. I slid out of the bed with a sigh, bringing my bag up onto it. Taking a quick shower and changing into a fresh set of clothing, I felt less panicked. As much as I wanted to lay around and wallow in self-pity, it was time to face the day.

As I walked down the main staircase leading into the lobby, many voices could be heard. Sounds like quite the commotion. Today, there are a lot more people here. Most of them I recognize from the ad however, there are a few I don't. When I make it to the bottom of the staircase, a few of the other residents pull me to the side. It sounds like I just walked into the end of a musical number with Charlie who I can only assume to be Lucifer...weird. Why does everyone in hell feel the need to sing? It was something I never understood, as I don't really have much of a singing voice to begin with.

The demon that had pulled me aside was one I recognized from the ad. They seemed to resemble a spider...but pink...and fluffy? This is hell, I don't know why things like this still surprise me. "Heya, toots. You must be the new resident Charlie told us about. And no we don't really know what's going on either...but it's entertaining!" My confusion must have been more obvious than I thought. "I'm Angel Dust," They begin to point around to the different people hanging around. "That's Husk, Niffty, Sir Pentious, and..." They looked around the room, "Alastor's somewhere around here." Now that's a name I know. Alastor the radio demon. Arch nemesis to your ex-boyfriend and one of the most terrifying overlords. Even I've heard of the carnage he's capable of. "I'd stay clear of him if I were you," Husk warned. "Yeah, I definitely don't plan on seeking him out," I responded.

As I looked back at Charlie it seemed like their duet had come to an end. Charlie takes notice of my presence and runs up to me, taking my hands in hers. "I'm so glad you're up and you've met everyone!" She beckons Lucifer over to us. "Dad, this is the new guest I was telling you about!" Before Lucifer had the chance to acknowledge the new sinner Charlie began to speak again, "I can't wait for you to join in on the activities! Do you have anything planned for today?" Every time she speaks her loud and energetic aura makes me jump a little. Maybe one day I'll be able to get used to it. "Yeah, I've got some errands I need to run. Wasn't really able to come here with much." Charlie squeals in excitement. "That sounds like so much fun!" The Princess's face lit up with an idea, "Why don't we all go out shopping together for today's activity! It'll be a great way for everyone to bond!" Husk groaned unenthusiastically at the idea of having to go outside and socialize, however, Angel Dust and Sir Pentious seemed quite excited. As much as I preferred to be alone it was nice to have some company every once in a while. Charlie turned back around to her dad. "Not to mention, this would be a great way for you to see the hotel in action!" The way she jumped between conversations and people, really felt like whiplash sometimes. "I don't know Charlie..." I can tell from the way he carries himself that he's not the most confident and probably pretty socially anxious. This is the first good look I've been able to get of him today, and for being the 'most evil being in creation' Lucifer was hot. I may not be looking to get into another relationship right now, but I can still appreciate his dashing looks. "Please Dad, this'll be so much fun!" She pleaded. If nothing else she could finally spend some quality time with her father, not to mention finally get him out of the house he never seemed to leave. With a small chuckle escaping his lips and sighing in defeat the king of Hell gave in to his pleading daughter. "Alright Charlie, anything for you. When do we leave?"
