Chapter 6
Dedicated to @STMinecraftFanGirl (She helped me research for this fanfiction and actually went through some work to help. Thanks a lot! This chapter is for YOU!)
VERY IMPORTANT AUTHORS NOTE AT THE END OF THE CHAPTER!
P.S. Please excuse my writing style. It has been a long while so I'm kind of rusty.
~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~
Third POV (A/N: This has been a long-running debate in my head, but do people prefer POVs or continuous 3rd POV?)
This wasn't the first time that Lumier von Granzreich has met Heine Wittgenstein. In fact, he met him quite a long time ago (Actually it was only 3 months ago, but whose counting?).
In those days, he was actually not known as the smiling-kind Prince but the mischievous-troublesome one (Though the difference was only 3 months but again, details.)
Perhaps it was the excitement of being born in a freaking anime.
Perhaps it was because he was currently a child, always on the roller coaster of ever-changing-complicated-who-even-invented-this-bull****- emotions
Perhaps it was the happiness of being born in a wholesome anime where his only true despair came from the fact that animation was far in the distant future (He still sheds tears ಥ Д ಥ) instead of ruining his vocal cords due to unnecessary yelling in an apocalyptic world filled with naked giants who seem to pop up in every corner and multiply like rabbits in heat. (A/N: I just played AOT 2 switch. me frustrated)
But when Lumier could finally walk without tripping every 5 seconds, and was able to manipulate naive monkey evolutions to do his every bidding. He immediately set off to Maria Vetsera Church where a certain midget teacher worked at.
~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~
FLASHBACK - 3 months ago -
~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~
A young boy with pale blond hair clung tightly to the horse's mane as the horse galloped through the forest. The boy could only clung as he couldn't ride the horse properly as his feet didn't even reach the stirrup.
Lumier von Granzriech grinned a small wicked grin. He has escaped the palace to go see the protagonist of the world he lived in.
Not only because he was eager to see his favorite character, but Lumier was also incredibly bored after spending his whole life (literally) in the same room with the same golden-lined crib with the same now mutilated animal stuffies (Lets just say his baby training regime veered off into the unspeakable).
His mischievous-troublesome title was well-earned when at the tender age of 3 years and 11 months old he decided to elope with a random stable horse who was bribed with carrot-shaped treats. It was quite exhilarating and Lumier now had a vast understanding of why girls in shoujo manga always run away with the men who treat them like trash and only have good looks as a redeeming quality.
Lumier even decided to do it properly and hire the mafia(They were actually Cooco and his henchmen, but their mafia birds. Details) to guide him to the church.
After the young prince arrived at the church and carefully gotten off the horse a small fast figure suddenly stole his bag and ran through a hole beneath the church.
The surprised Lumier looked between his empty hands and the small hole where the figure disappeared and his previous plans suddenly were pushed to the back of his head, childish curiosity taking over his body as he instinctively followed the figure.
Lumier observed the hole beneath the wooden flooring that was hidden by the tall grass. He wouldn't even have noticed it if it weren't for the figure using it. The hole seemed to have been accidentally made due to the old wood of the Church.
Lumier himself was small (A very very sad fact), but even he had to go on his knees and elbows. He slowly crawled in.
~O~
The young second prince of Granzreich, who could still be considered a toddler, was currently dragging himself through mud.
Despite his mental Levi screaming somewhere in the back of his head, Lumier's more childish side enjoyed playing with the mud as he crawled his way through.
It's not everyday he, a prince who must maintain the regal air skill at all times, gets to crawl through mud underneath the wooden flooring of a church.
Honestly, the contents in the bag weren't too valuable and though regrettable, he could let the figure go. But the child's thoughts were cut short when he heard voices above.
"Here are the glasses for the wine. What kind did you bring this time?"
"Hehe, the ambassador of Fonseine brought Alsace red wine as a gift to show support for the new alliance."
"Ah yes. The Kingdom of Fonseine is famous for their production of wine. I'm quite intrigued."
Lumier stopped as he recognized the voices. One was a voice he hears regularly: His father.
And the other must be Heine.
'Ooh, this could be interesting.' Lumier thought as a wicked grin pulled on his mouth. He listened closely to the voices above.
Above, unknown to the occupants of a listener, the mood was light.
Heine sighed with exasperation as he sat down across the King of the country who was casually sitting down in a granny-style rocking chair sipping wine in an old church in the middle of a forest.
"What is it now Viktor? You should be doing your duties or resting in this small time of peace instead of visiting this commoner."
Viktor looked up sharply. "Heine." He chastised gently, "King or commoner, you are my friend." Suddenly the king's whole body slumped in a dejected puppy-like manner "And as my friend, you must listen to my woes."
"Joy." Heine said monotonously as he openly ignored his companion by reading the book on his lap called "Quotes for when life becomes too life"
"Heine~" The King whined when he saw that he was being snubbed.
"What is the subject of your troubles tonight, your majesty?" Heine said not looking up from his book.
A unreadable look suddenly passed through the King's eyes. "My children."
The red-haired man looked up from his book as the mood became somber.
The young king gave an enigmatic smile as he swirled the wine in the glass, "It's a blessing to parents when their children are graced with talents. Its these talents that will aid them in the future. However..."
"...Those who shine attract eyes," Heine murmured.
"Both eyes of admiration and malice." The King finished. He tilted his head as he took a large swing of wine, proof of how troubled he was.
"Viktor..."
"Eins is a genius." The King spoke as if Heine didn't, his eyes held a slightly glazed look as if he was seeing something no one else could, "A genius who is being pushed to grow at a scary unnatural rate. The pressure comes in the form of the people, both corrupt or naive. It's confining him, pushing him on a single narrow path filled with thorns he's not ready to face."
Viktor fingers tightened their hold of the wine glass.
"Lumier...His growth even more unnatural. He speaks like he is older and seems to unconsciously place himself above others as if he is superior. Not in an arrogant sense for he is very kind at heart, but in a way he himself doesn't seem to realize it."
"He is a prince, Viktor. A difference must be placed between the one who leads and those who follow." Heine commented.
"Yes...but if they never create a bridge between that gap, they will never be able to connect with others. A king unable to connect with his own people is doomed to fall. History has already proven that."
Viktor looked up determinedly, "Heine, I believe a good--no, a decent king should know what its like to live on the other side, to be a child who makes mistakes that shape them to be independent."
Heine huffed, "It was because of your childishness that led you to escape the palace walls and get shot."
"Yes." Victor smiled, "but it was also because of my childishness, that I met you and met the people who I needed to help as king."
Heine observed his King before turning his head to give a sigh. "You are troublesome, Viktor. Both then and now." Heine gave a small smile, "But you are a good king."
Heine put down his wine glass, "I can't speak as a parent, but as a teacher I can say this: We cannot control how children grow, when they grow, and who they become. We merely guide them, advise them, and teach them knowledge that will help them. It is up to them how they choose to use that guidance."
Heine looked at his old friend, "Have faith in them."
There was a thoughtful silence before Viktor gave a small laugh. "Wise as ever, my friend."
"Actually everything I just said was read word by word from this book." Heine deadpanned as he held up his book.
"Ehhh...?"
...
Below, Lumier was silent. He never thought he would see his father this...vulnerable. No, perhaps not vulnerable...more...Less confident. It certainly shined a new light of human that both intrigued and made Lumier feel slightly ashamed.
'What am I doing here...? Thinking that this is for fun. My disappearance could have massive consequences. I could actually be in put into danger, the palace may be in chaos, the security's reputation or worse the King's could be questioned.' He thought.
Another thought came forth: 'Did this happen in the anime or manga? Heine didn't know about Father's troubles with Eins until after he came to tutor at the palace. Did I possibly change something without even trying?'
Lumier realized, though despite telling himself and accepting the situation immediately from rebirth, that this was the moment he truly understood that this was his world. Perhaps it was an anime, a fictional world in the past, but this was his new reality.
He can't just play and do as he likes, or treat characters as if they were fictional because they're not. They breathe and eat as he does. Thinks and acts depending on the situation because they are real. His existence has an imprint.
Perhaps when he forced himself to quickly accept the situation of his rebirth, his mind was still in disbelief that he was reincarnated into an anime.
Lumier let his head drop on the muddy ground carelessly in a moment of annoyance 'I can't believe I had some kind of enlightenment like those isekai protagonists in fanfictions... You would think at the mental age of 24 I wouldn't need to be admonished by my father...'
Unfortunately his head hitting the wet ground made a noise.
"What was that?" Heine asked sharply.
Lumier automatically stiffened like a child caught doing something bad--Oh wait, that metaphor won't work cause he was.
It was silent. A sign that both battle-bred men were sensing their surroundings.
Eventually Victor spoke, "Probably a fat mole or rat."
Lumier felt an invisible arrow pierce through him. His child body brought instant tears to well in his eyes as Lumier felt incredibly offended. 'I'm not fat...' he thought miserably.
~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~
END OF FLASHBACK
~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~
'Ah yes.' Lumier chuckled as he waited in the carriage. 'And ever since that incident, I became different. Mischievous to cautious and careless to responsible.' He also became more laid-back, deciding to let life go as it will and not rush through it like he tried earlier.
Not only did it make Lumier feel more relaxed as an invisible weight was lifted, but his father seemed a bit brighter (more than usual) these days. His change was not only for himself, but for his father after all.
HIRO was independent since birth with no family to depend on or shield his childhood unlike Lumier. And while he will never have the innocence that his father hoped would help him grow, Lumier would take a step backward for each large leap he takes forward and embrace his new life.
'Ugh.' Lumier's face stiffened, 'Damnit I just had another sappy enlightenment.' Then he noticed Lyon's suspicious gaze and Ristor's curious glances.
Lumier decided to grace them with a sparkle smile attack, "Is something wrong?"
Lyon gave an annoyed huff and looked away, deciding to not grace him with a reply and instead go all 'Sasuke' on him.
Ristor shook his head, "No, your highness. It just looked like you were having a major flashback of a moment in your childhood where you were enlightened and that realization shaped you into the great person you are today. I must be wrong though, my greatest apologies." He said earnestly despite his blank face.
Lumier hid his flinch with a regal cough.
Lyon gave Ristor a baffled glance that spoke 'This-idiot-won-the-lottery?'
Ristor gave a bow, "I'll announce your highness' presence to the church. Please excuse me."
Lumier gave a shaky smile that dropped as soon as Ristor left. 'Even though I accepted the fact that I'm going to live meaningfully in this world...'
The young prince gave a sigh to the side, "Anime..." He muttered.
The young assassin also gave a sigh to the side, "I'm surrounded by weirdos." He muttered.

(Canon) OMAKE/EXTRA #1:
Viktor sat next the bed of his beloved second son and let out a tired sigh.
When the young king returned to the palace, his heart stopped when he heard that the second prince had gone missing.
A large search was going on and panic was barely contained. Eins himself, skipped his lesson for the very first time as he went searching for his little brother.
Viktor was so worried and fearful that he could hardly keep his composure as he rapidly snapped out orders. Granzriech was in a short fragile period of peace, the war was still going strong in neighboring nations and Viktor knew he had many enemies, from foreign kings to corrupt nobles he has yet to flush out from the previous' king's reign.
He feared that his dear son might have fallen into malicious hands.
It was only at early morning when Lumier was found in the stables, dirty and hair stained in mud as he slept on a bale of hay.
Safesafeheissafeheissafesafesafe
As a father, he felt the sweet lightness of relief. As a king, he felt fury raging like a storm.
'Whoever did this will regret it dearly...' The King thought as he smoothed out the blanket over his son.
His logical side did propose that perhaps the culprit was his son himself. In that case, no matter how indulging Viktor was with his children, Lumier was in for a scolding.
(Though somewhere in the back of his head, he hears his mental Heine muttering something about Viktor sneaking out during even more dangerous times and getting shot for it rather than just covered in mud, but alas--Details the overprotective father doesn't care about at the moment)
The young king's thoughts came to a halt when Lumier's eyelids begin to flutter open. "Father...?" The young child stared up at his father in haze from sleep.
"Yes, Lumier? Are you alright? Do you need water? Food? Extra blankets? Mr. Bear stuffy #25?" Viktor asked frantically. Regardless of future scoldings or punishments, his son needed rest.
Lumier narrowed his eyes, still sleepy and not conscious of his current situation. The young prince blurted the first thing that came to mind.
"I think you're fat."
And promptly went back to sleep.
"..."
...
Elsewhere Heine felt his intuition tingle, telling him that a certain crybaby was going to come back through the window with another bottle of wine to sob about his troubles as if the church was a bar.
He was right of course. Only Heine later spilled the entire bottle because he was shaking with laughter.
(Non-Canon) OMAKE/EXTRA #2:
Once the youngest prince was coherent, Lumier was quickly questioned.
"Where were you last night during your disappearance, your highness?" The captain of the guards asked respectfully, feeling the two burning gazes bore into his back (One from his boss, i.e. the King and the other from his subordinate with the blank face.)
Lumier looked up from his snack, a napkin hiding his face and showing only his eyes. His eyes suddenly closed and turned u-turn into an eye-smile...?
"I got lost on the road of life."
"...The road of life, your highness?"
"Yes. On my way back to the palace, I saw a black cat go under a ladder before crashing into a mirror shop and breaking all the mirrors. Today is also Friday, the 13th. I was so distressed that I told the driver of my carriage to go the long way back to the palace. Halfway through our journey the driver let go of his reigns and suddenly began to sing a song unsuited to his voice tenor and tried to make ice castles. The carriage fell sideways off the cliff and I landed into some mud which protected me from injuries hence my dirty attire. Then I met a green-skinned old lady who needed help carrying groceries which I did and she thanked me by poofing me to the royal stables."
"...I see."
Behind the captain, Ristor nodded his head, "No wonder your highness was found in the stable covered in mud. It must have been very tiring, your highness." Ristor said as with a sad voice, his face forever blank.
"..."
(Non-Canon) OMAKE/EXTRA #3:
"Why did you go to the church in the first place, boss?" Cooco asked the next day.
Lumier looked up from his book, "Well of course it was because I--" The young boy suddenly paused.
"Because I wanted to ---" Lumier scratched his head.
"Because you what?" Cooco continued.
"Hmmmm."
"Hm?"
"Hmmmmm.."
"HM!!?"
"Hmmm... To be honest, I kind of forgot."

(A/N: Cause of plot. ~(⁰▿⁰)~)
Meanwhile the small figure turned out to be a fox who stole the bag because he smelled the carrot-shaped food.
The fox used his snout the push the contents of the bag aside. The fox paused and tilted his head to glance at the notebook, wondering what it was.
If the fox could read human, he would know that the notebook was titled "Grow tall like a pretty flower! A children book for kids about how to grow big and tall!" with a small scrawling at the bottom saying "For Heine"

Authors Note:
Dear Readers...
Everybody clap your hands!
It's been a while! I think I have the got-too-many-ideas-that-I-don't-know-how-to-write-a-new-chapter-disease! And life just throws free wrenches like bullets that my thought process is only: "WLAFJLRIFJRFLAWLIULWFJAEFJSOFAJFEWoHWAITIHAVEAGOODCHAPTERIDEAFOROUSHITSUKYOUSHIHAINE!"
I actually had no idea how this chapter was going to go and didn't release in a while (LONG WHILE) as the previous idea I had made me want to barf rainbows.
But suddenly a chapter outline just knocked politely and introduced itself in a British accent and here we are!
You're not angry with the wait, yes? Of course you aren't. *Dodges knives* Because you are my wonderful patient readers--OHMY--
*Sees an UNITED STATES OF SMASH heading my way* Oh my...oh my...GOODNESS!"
THATS NOT PATIENT. OR NICE.
Anyway.
Hope you enjoyed the chapter.
On the more serious side, I noticed that there are some stories on Wattpad awfully similar to mine... *angry emoji* If it was just the idea, I would have clapped them on the back and laugh obnoxiously, but when I read the chapters, I noticed immediately that the order of events was exactly the same as mine. Even the dialogue was practically IDENTICAL!
I'm not going to call out any names (You know who you are) but, let me just say that its more than just one person. Using the same idea is fine because Oushitsu Kyoushi Heine doesn't belong to us. Anyone could have come up with the same idea. I'm really happy that people like my chapters enough to copy them, but I really felt kind of upset when I saw this. I'm not calling any names because I noticed that they made new chapters completely their original work (hopefully) since this fanfic isn't very long (yet).
If you guys are going to use my ideas, please message me. At least one of the stories referenced my name and that's fine if you are just going to use the same ideas (I even encourage it, I love reading similar plot fanfics), but if you are going to copy the chapter than I would like to be messaged for permission (which you're going to have to give me a convincing argument.)
Phew. I've been holding that in for a while. It's probably a bit of a reason why I didn't update this story. I apologize for being petty, but it's hard for me to write chapters and I spend a lot of time thinking about them. I think what made up my mind to do something was when one of the recent comments was about how MY story was identical to another as if I was the one copying.
I could be misunderstanding something and if I am, please message me.
On a more brighter note, lets discuss this chapter (Yes, I understand if you're probably going to skip because no one cares of authors notes..*sad*)
Some of the recent comments has supported my thought that Lumier is too mature for his age. I would have brushed it off on anime realism and he's like a 20-something year old man in a 4-year old body, but I decided it could give the fanfic a bit more foundation if I gave a little reasoning.
I'm currently in my last semester in high school before I'm off to post-secondary. My current semester is relaxed so far (I probably just jinxed it) so I'm hoping to get some updates in. I'm mainly focusing on my One Piece, HxH x AnY, and I'm trying to get back into Assassination Classroom and catch up on Detective Conan.
Since its spring break for me (And it may be extended due to a certain virus), I have a list of things I want to do like do a Bob Ross painting, re-read Trash of the Count's Family, rewatch Kuroko no Basket, Prince of Tennis, and catch up of Attack on Titan and One Piece.
Oh I also just watched Vinland Saga. It was interesting. The Manga didn't hold it for me tho sadly.
With that, here is your random song of the day (Just rewatched Dr. Stone and fell in love with this song):
https://youtu.be/ZmszSggqd3A
With that over, I hope you enjoy the chapter. Kufufu~
Until next time,
Neko1290 (〜 ̄▽ ̄)〜 〜( ̄▽ ̄〜)
P.S. Comments give me joy. I do read all of them.
