Oliver's home!
(Oliver's turn!)
I hummed along to the radio as I drove home. Hikaru was asleep in the passenger seat with his head resting on the seatbelt hammock again and every now and then, he'd mumble something incoherent. I think it's from being away from Kaoru for so long. He had latched onto my arm at the beginning so I gave him a pillow to cuddle while I drove so we don't wreck again.
We had a few more hours to go so I stopped at a restaurant and shook him awake," hey, Ru, wake up."
"Mmm~ Don't wanna~"
"there's food."
"FOOD?!" He jolted awake and I laughed.
"yes, Ru, food." He clambered out and I locked the car before walking with him in the door. I felt him grab my hand suddenly and gently ran my thumb on the back of it. He had told me after a nightmare the he had always slept with Kaoru and he wasn't used to sleeping without someone else. I figured the same thing might be happening here and he was looking for a source of comfort. The waitress led us to a table for two and seated us before leaving to serve another customer.
Hikaru was still holding my hand under the table. I gently pulled it away to open the menu and I chuckled softly when I felt his foot against mine.
The waitress came back and took our orders and menus. After she left, Hikaru grabbed my hand again and held it until she returned with the food and he had to let go to eat.
I was cutting up my chicken and dumplings when his foot nudged mine. My eyes looked up to his face and he grinned before returning to his food.
'Weird. Why'd he get me to look at him if he didn't want to talk?'
Eventually, we made our way back to the car and continued on our way home, Hikaru's arms clutching my pillow and his head on my shoulder.
When we arrived at my house, I decided to let him stay the night since it was too late to take him to Teu's place. I shook him awake and had him carry the lighter items in while I brought in the cooler and heavier bag. We dropped them in the middle of the foyer and I set him up on the couch. My feet padded softly to my bedroom on the second floor and carried my tired form to the bed. I didn't bother changing and, after setting my glasses aside, passed out on the comfortable bed.
