Friday Night
It was Friday and thank the lord for that. Any longer and I would have either died of embroilment or I would have died at the hands of all the girls in my school. And another reason I was happy for Friday was that everyone would be home for dinner. Finally, The Exchange students would meet my family. So I was all a twitter about that.
I was in the kitchen when Haruhi came in. "Hey, is there anything I can help with?" She asked me.
I nodded. "Hey, put on an apron and cook the staeks. Well I get the rice and the asparagus going."
She noodded and started cooking the meet. After a few minutes she asked. "Hay Teu-chan, why do you do all the cooking and not your mom?"
I looked up from the rice cooker and said. "Well thats easy. My mom works so do my dad and older brothers. So I decided that I'd make sure they got good and healthy food."
"Ah I see." She was quite for a moment then she asked. "If you don't mind me asking, what does your family do?"
I put the rice in the microwave and started it before answering. "Nah I don't. My dad is a doctor, my mom works as a chemist, one of my brothers works as a piano teacher and the other is a editor for a newspaper." I told her all of this while the rice was cooking. "Oh shoot! the asparagus." I darted over to the asparagus and took it off the stove it almost burned.
Haruhi laughed at this.
"That's not funny, Haruhi." But I was smiling too. Then I heard the front door open.
One of my brothers came in and said. "Something smells good in here, Teu."
I stuck out my tongue. "Yes and you can't have any until everyone is home, Yuri." ( Yuri is the older of my brothers.)
Yuri shook his head. "You're mean, Teutonia."
I laughed. "Go to the living room, you crazy boy." I shooting on at the kitchen.
Ten minutes later my other brother can in. "Hay Teu, can I help?" He asked.
I turnd to him. "Hey, Yuki, would you please set the table. If you need to, get Yuri and some of the other to help."
He nodded, grabbed the plates and silverware, and disappeared into the dining room.
Once the table was set and the food on the table mom and dad came in.
My dad smiled and said. "Hi kitten, what's for dinner?"
I rolled my eyes. "We're having steak, asparagus, and rice."
"Sounds good, don't you think so Ki?" My mom asked as she walked in.
My dad nodded and sat.
Half way though dinner, Tamaki spoke. "Sir, I don't mean to rude, but I've been wondering something."
"What's up?" My dad asked.
"Well your last name is Uzumaki but you don't look Japanese." He said tentatively.
My dad gave a deep belly laugh. "Oh that, I'm second generation."
Second generation?" One of the twins asked.
"Yes dear, Ki and I are both second generation. When we say that it means our families came straight from their homeland here. Ki is second-generation Japanese. His parents came here when he was five. I'm second generation Scottish. My family came here when my sister and I were six." My mom told them.
They all nodded. When we finished eating we all went to the play room and played games. After that, we went to bed.
