Mori x Reader, Soulmate AU
There's a timer on your wrist that counts down to the moment you and your soulmate meet, when you finally meet them the timer will glow and disappear.. I'd like to have the reader attend Lobelia for her middle school years and then transfers to Ouran during her second year in high school where she'll stumble upon Mori and the host club. The reader is a year younger than Mori and she's the sweet and gentle type of girl, the type that never seems to get mad
Enjoy

Your POV
Giggling softly, I sit atop one of my best friends king size, double bed in my pastel blue onesie with ice creams of different colours, holding my stuffed penguin close to my chest. Sitting in a small circle with bowls of chips and dips, candy and popcorn in the centre for us to pick and nibble at during the night and into the morning. My friends wearing different coloured and patterned onesies and holding their own favourite stuffed animals. Giggles filling the room as the final girl scurries in with a huge grin and sliding into her spot in the circle.
The sheer buzz of excitement around the circle made every girl fill with joy. Smiling toward my small group of friends, excited to hear about the girls that have found their soulmates. The most exciting, most beautiful and most life changing thing that could happen to you in your whole lifetime. Finding the one person that was born to love and have you forever... To find the one person that will accept you no matter what you are, who you are or what you do.
The sole purpose of love... Of life!
Word spread of many girls in my middle school finding their soulmates, which in turn managed to make everyone buzz with anticipation as they watch the timers on their wrists slowly count down and tick away to the moment where you meet them. Everyone couldn't wait to meet the man or woman of their dreams. After all, a soulmate was your boyfriend or girlfriend or significant other for life! It sounds so amazing!
"So who's gonna go first?" Hinami, the head of the group, asks with a smile, hugging her plush wolf close to her chest with a giggle, looking around the circle as she grabs a handful of M&M's, "Come on! It's gonna be fun!"
"Ooh! I'll go!" Sara replies holding her hand up, grinning from ear to ear as she tucks her hair behind her ear, swaying softly as she cuddles with her stuffed bear, "I met my soulmates three weeks ago! She's my new lab partner in Chemistry! Her name is Ellie and she's really, really pretty!"
"Awww! That's so cute!" Julia gushes, giggling as Sara blushes like mad, hiding her face into her bear with a whine, "Mines a boy! His name is Axel, we bumped into each other in the candy aisle in the grocery store! His dad owns a whole chain of restaurants!"
"That's amazing!" Hinami squeals, nibbling on some popcorn as we all giggle, elbowing and raising our eyebrows at each other, "So who's next? Jasmine?"
As Jasmine gushes about her newfound soulmate, I begin to zone out. Looking down at my crossed legs, fiddling with my penguins orange stuffed feet. Slowly, yet surely, growing more and more insecure. All the girls in my friendship group found their soulmates so early. Hinami has this girl who's the heir to a wealthy corporation. Sara has that girl from chemistry who's mother owns her own fashion line and is a model. Julia has that boy with the rich father and all those restaurants. Jasmine, Yui and Kyla have found theirs too...
I hadn't found mine yet...
Gulping nervously, I dig my hand into the bowl of popcorn and begin to snack on the small handful of popped kernels. Trying to get my mind off the fact that I'm one of the only few that hasn't found their soulmate. Already, I felt like an outcast and I hadn't even been acknowledged yet. I even took time to conceal the timer on my wrist, petrified of people yanking my wrist to get a good look of it.
"So (Y/n), what about you?" Hinami asks, tilting her head, all the attention suddenly on me making my skin prickle, my mouth suddenly going dry as six pairs of eyes stare into me, "What about your soulmate?"
"I... uh... um..." I begin, gulping gently as I look down at my lap, fiddling with the penguins fins as I try to avoid the question but I know that it's inevitable to answer it, so I only had to mumble, "I haven't found mine yet..."
"You're mumbling, who is it?" Julia asks, leaning forward, grinning as I look down ashamed, "Come on, don't be embarrassed! Are they cute? Are they rich? It's can't be a commoner surely?"
"Come on, (Y/n), no secrets," Yui presses, grabbing my arm in her hands and shaking me with a whine, "Come on! Please! Who's the lucky person?"
"I — I haven't found mine yet..." I reply, biting my lip as they all gasp simultaneously, gulping softly as I look down at my lap, feeling guilty somehow, my heart hammering fast against my chest, my hands growing clammy, "It's not that bad..."
They all suddenly went quiet. A ringing sound beginning to engulf my ears. My head beginning to pound as they begin to whisper amongst one another. Talking about me. Staring toward me before whispering in each other's ears, covering their ears and mouths with their ears to prevent me from hearing. Not even caring about how insecure I was growing. My hands beginning to tense up as I dig my fingers into the plushness of my penguin.
"I — I feel sick..." I mutter, scurrying out of the room close to tears, sniffling gently as I rush through the halls, grabbing my night bag from the rack on the hallway and fishing my bag out, ringing my mother with a small sob, ignoring the concerned looks from the maids, "I'm so stupid... why did I tell them that?..."
"(Y/n)? Are you okay?" My mother asks from the other line, her voice drowning with concern as I sob down the line, wiping my eyes on my penguin, "Sweetpea, what's wrong? Why are you crying?"
"I — I wan — wanna go h — h — home," I sob into the phone, sniffling as my breath quickens, tears sliding down my cheeks as I hold my penguin close to my chest, "P — please... they're b — being m — mean..."
"Oh sweetie... I'm on my way, okay? Deep breaths," My mom soothes, I could hear her telling the chauffeur the destination and the shutting of a car door, "Wait by the front door okay? Then I'll take you home, I'll make hot chocolate and we can have our own sleepover, yeah?"
"O — okay," I whimper, wiping my eyes on my sleeves as I patter down the hallway, blowing my nose on a tissue as I slip my shoes on, disregarding the need for socks while I wait with my bag by the front door, patiently waiting for my mother to roll up in our car, "Can... can we have takeout too?"
"Whatever you want, sweetie," Mom hums, hanging up as the car rolls to a halt, instantly getting out the car and gathering my sobbing, snotty mess in her arms, holding me close as I latch onto her like a baby, "Oh honey, what happened?"
Sniffling rather loudly, I snuggle into her chest as she carries me to the car. I could feel her eyeing the girls staring out of the window, watching as I'm taken back home. My mother letting me lay across the back seat, my head in her lap as the chauffeur begins driving us back home. Curling myself in as she gently runs her fingers through my hair.
"What did they do?" She asks, her tone more sincere with a hint of anger, lacing her fingers through my tresses of (h/c) hair, "Talk to me sweetie,"
"We were... talking about soulmates," I begin, taking a deep breath to avoid from breaking down like I did earlier, my nails digging into my penguin, "It came to me and I told them I hadn't found mine yet... they began whispering and pointing... then I ran.."
"I'm sorry, sweetie... That's horrible that they did that to you," She hums, smiling gently my way as I snuggle into her, sighing softly, "It'll be okay, you'll make new friends,"
"Mom..." I begin, sighing softly as I look up to her, "Is it bad that I haven't found my soulmate yet?"
"No it's not, babe, I promise," she replies with a small smile, kissing my forehead to emphasise her point, "Your father and I met in our college days, some people just grow rude once they find their soulmate, thinking that those without them are the lower class which isn't the case. Sometimes finding them early can lead to complications further down the line. So don't worry about it,"
"Okay," I reply, smiling weakly not really believing her, as the car slides to a halt, arriving back at home, "Thanks mom,"
"Of course, sweetie, you know I'm always here for you," she replies with a smile, helping me back into the house and sitting down on the couch with me in her lap, "How about we transfer you to a different school for high school? Fresh new start,"
"I'd like that," I reply with a smile, snuggling into her as she puts my favourite movie on, one of the maids settling down bowls full of varieties of popcorn, candy, chips and dip, "I'd really like that,"
"Good, I'll look around," She replies, smiling gently as she dims the lights and covers us with a large, fluffy blanket, "Do you want to go to another all girls school?"
"No," I instantly reply, snuggling into her lap with a small smile, "Mixed please..."
The thought of starting high school fresh comforted me. The thought of meeting new people, hoping that they'd at least be more open about soulmates. Being a new student was always daunting but it welcomed new things. Hopefully, in high school, no one would care about if you've found your soulmate or not. I could dream.
Sighing gently, I look down at my wrist, lifting my sleeve to showcase the sand timer engraved on my wrist. Slowly ticking away. Hopefully bringing me closer and closer to happiness. To that moment where putting up with all the laughter and the whispers and the jokes were worth it. I still had a long way to go. A really long way. Hopefully, it'll be worth it.
3 Years. 7 Months. 13 Days. 28 Minutes. 23... 22... 21... Seconds.

A small giggle leaves my lips as Tamaki wraps his arms around Kyoya's right arm, beginning to jump up and down and whine like a little child. Throwing his own little tantrum in his own way. Wanting to do something with his rather stubborn and workaholic soulmate. His big, sapphire blue eyes twinkling with want and need. Trying to swerve Kyoya into doing something that he wanted. Somehow, the puppy eyes didn't work. So he resorted to plan two, acting like a child, whining like a toddler, yanking on his arm while huffing out a 'mommy' from time to time.
It was a completely different soulmate dynamic to what you usually see.
While, usually, you see soulmates like Hikaru and Haruhi acting as close as ever, holding hands from time to time or leaning into one another whenever they were nearby. Acting like they were in love. Acting like they couldn't be any happier. You had Tamaki and Kyoya in the other side of the spectrum. Kyoya was rather stubborn, apparently he was rather reluctant to actually start a relationship up with Tamaki considering that he'd rather focus on his work. Tamaki was quite the charming romantic while Kyoya was the cold hearted snake who found work more important than love.
Complete opposites. Yet somehow they attract.
Being in a mixed school was completely different to being in a girls school. Obviously, there's the damning fact that there's boys in a mixed school. There's also the fact that not finding your soulmate yet wasn't shunned or downgraded. You were treated just like everyone else. It didn't matter what the status on your soulmate was, which is something I had been eternally grateful for ever since I came to this school. Not once was I whispered about or laughed at for being single, I was always given motivation and determination by those around me which made being without a soulmate much more easier than I had ever imagined.
My closest friend, Tamaki, already found his soulmate. Like me, he was rather late in his search for soulmates too which is probably what gravitated us together. They met when Kyoya was the new student and Tamaki was his guide. It was adorable seeing Tamaki excited, bouncing up and down with glee as he spoke so highly about this Kyoya Ootori. He was so happy, like a child on Christmas!
Tamaki gently nudges my shoulder, slipping me out of my thoughts as I look toward him with a friendly smile. Tucking my hair behind my ears as he sits opposite me, unable to fight the smile that's etching across my lips, giggling as Kyoya slides next to Tamaki.
"So, hows your soulmate search?" Tamaki asks, a huge grin on his face from finally managing to break Kyoya into agreeing to whatever shenanigan he was planning, "Getting any closer?"
"My timer says it should be today," I reply, giddy with excitement, trying not to bounce with absolute delight, trying to maintain a more calming persona however difficult it was, "I'm so excited Tamaki! I'm finally going to meet them!"
"Oh that's amazing, (Y/n) - chan!" Tamaki cheers with a grin, tugging and shaking Kyoya by the arm making me cover my mouth to try and suppress a giggle, "Isn't that amazing, Kyoya! It's so exciting!"
"Yes, it is, can you please stop yanking my arm?" Kyoya hums, sending me a smile before kissing Tamaki's forehead as he pulls away, "Do you have any idea how you want them to look?"
"I don't have any preferences, they can be tall or short, large or small, and I'll love them no matter what," I reply with a smile, giggling as Tamaki gushes like the girls back at Lobelia, "I'm just happy that I finally get to meet them. I've been waiting for this forever and I'm just thankful that today is the day,"
"You're so cute, (Y/n) - chan," Tamaki squeals, giggling with a grin, "Whoever they are, they're going to be lucky to have you,"
"Thank you Tamaki," I hum, gathering my school books in my arms, holding them close to my chest while Kyoya sends me a smile, "Right, I better get to the library, I have some homework I need to catch up on, have fun at the Host Club,"
"Oh, we will," Tamaki giggles, resting his head on Kyoya's shoulder with a grin, "Good luck with your soulmate!"
Nodding gently, I head out of the music room, taking a shaky breath, sending a smile toward Haruhi as she holds the door open for me. My mind full of excitement as I head down the hall, however my stomach was full of butterflies. My fingers digging into the spines of my books as I swerve around my peers, smiling happily their way or giving them a polite 'hello'. My heart hammering rather quickly in my chest.
The thought of meeting my soulmate today excited me, sure, but I couldn't help but feel nervous. What if they didn't like me? What would happen then? What happens if my timer was wrong? Would they want to be my soulmate? What's going to happen if I don't meet them in a certain way?
Suddenly, yanking me out of my train of thought, I bash into a rather large, tall figure making me squeal and fall onto my bottom. A small embarrassed blush crawling upon my face as I scramble to gather my scattered books.
"I'm sorry," I utter out, avoiding eye contact to the person I smashed into, the figure now bending down to help me gather up my books, "I wasn't looking where I was going, had my head in the clouds,"
"It's not your fault, I should have noticed," he replies, my eyes widen at how deep his voice was, clearing my throat with a small smile, I look toward him, my eyes instantly growing to the size of saucers as I realise it's Takashi Morinozuka, Mori to his friends, from the Host Club, I had never met him considering that I don't usually associate with the whole Host Club group, "Are you okay? Are you hurt?"
"Don't worry about me, I'm okay," I reply, sending him a reassuring smile as he hands me my pile of books; making sure that they're all balanced before letting go, "I've taken a lot worse,"
"Still, it looked like quite a fall," he replies, sending me a friendly smile, tucking a strand of my hair behind my ear making me blush and giggle gently, "I apologise,"
"It's really nothing to worry about, it was my fault, I wasn't looking where I was g—" I begin but halt as I notice my wrist glowing, the sandglass on my wrist lighting up a shade of (f/c) as I look toward Mori who is experiencing the same thing, his eyes widening as he looks toward me, "O — oh my god..."
"You're my soulmate... you're my soulmate and I just knocked you over," he groans, rubbing the bridge of his nose with a small half hearted chuckle, "I thought it'd be very romantic..."
"Don't beat yourself up about it," I reply, gently giggling as he takes my books of my hands, holding them in his arms as he offers his arm for me to take, being the gentleman everyone knows him for, "I loved it,"
"You're beautiful, just like I imagined," he replies, sending me a smile as he heads down the hallway with me, leading me down toward the library, "I'm Mori, I'm guessing you already know that though,"
"I do, I'm (Y/n)," I reply, kissing his cheek as he sets my books down on a table, giggling as he pushes my chair in when I sit down in it, "I would have never guessed it'd be you... I'm so lucky,"
"As am I," he hums with a smile, sitting down next to me, taking my hands in his as he peppers kisses over my knuckles chasing flustered smiles and bashful blushes from my face, "Let me make it up to you, I'd love to take you out for dinner one night or maybe have you over so I can make you dinner myself... I really want to make a better impression, I promise you I don't knock people over on purpose,"
"You're so sweet, I'd love to go out with you," I reply, gently brushing my shoulder with my cheek as he warmly smiles my way, my insides melting into goo, "I'll give you my number,"
"There you are, Takashi! I've been looking everywhere for you!" Honey - Senpai exclaims, bouncing toward his cousin with a grin and latching onto his arm as I slide my number toward the taller male, "Huh? What's this?"
"Mitsukuni, this is my soulmate, (Y/n)," Mori explains, looking toward Honey who stares at me with wide, chocolate brown eyes which twinkle with absolute awe, "I'm taking her out to dinner sometime,"
"Wow! You're so lucky, Takashi!" Honey marvels, waving my way making me giggle and wave shyly back with a smile, "You we're taking ages to find your soulmate!"
"Yes, well, she's here now and I couldn't be happier," Mori replies before looking my way with a smile, "I'll text you about our date later on, I have Host Club duties to attend to... I'll see you around?"
"Of course, you boys have fun," I reply, blushing like a child as he kisses my cheek, hoists Honey onto his shoulders and leave the library, the grin on my lips unable to be fought back as I begin to go through my English book, "Wow... that was really worth the wait..."
****************
My mother squeals as the doorbell rings, rushing through the halls to get the door making me whine, embarrassed. Leaving me in my bedroom, trying to tackle the task of zipping up the back of my dress on my own. Stretching my arms in rather uncomfortable positions to try and pull the zip to the top of my dress with a whine, biting my lip as my aches at the weird position. Luckily, one of the maids cottoned onto what I was doing and politely helps me zip the dress up before I head toward the front doors, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear as I head down the stairs.
Smiling softly, I giggle at the sight of my mother marvelling at Mori. Complimenting him and commenting on how tall and handsome he was. Clapping her hands excitedly as I step down to the bottom of the stairs, waving shyly toward Mori who sends me a warm smile. A bouquet of flowers, assorting from blush red roses and pearl white lilies, resting in between his hands. My mother gushing as he hands it to me, a smile on my lips as I inhale their sweet, flowery scent.
If I knew different, I would have thought it would have been her soulmate taking her out on a date.
"You got a good one, sweetpea," My mother coos, kissing my forehead as I place the bouquet into a nearby vase, giggling as she tucks a strand of hair behind my ear, "You go have fun, you really deserve this,"
"Thank you mom," I hum smiling, kissing her cheek before heading over to Mori, gently taking his arm with a smile, kissing his cheek with a giggle before heading out of my home, "How are you, Mori - kun?"
"I'm good, how are you?" He asks, helping me into the car, kissing my forehead before shutting the door and sliding into the chair next to me while I buckle myself in, our hands interlinking as the chauffeur begins to drive us toward our destination, "Did you have a good day?"
"Yeah, I'm great," I reply with a smile, leaning my head on his shoulder as I look out the window, watching the city slide by, "How was your Host Club appointments?"
"Same as usual," he hums, rubbing small circles on my lower back, pressing a soft kiss to my forehead smiling into my hair, "They're much more crazy about Mitsukuni than me,"
"Well, you've got your own personal fangirl now," I reply with a giggle, kissing his cheek making him chuckle gently and pull me close, "So where are we going?"
"There's this Italian themed restaurant that I've been wanting to go to for a while," he explains with a smile, watching my eyes light up with a chuckle, "And I thought who better to take with me than my soulmate, consider this my apology for knocking you over,"
"You're so sweet, Mori - kun," I gush softly, smiling as the car rolls to a stop, Mori instantly rushing to open the door for me, taking my hand and helping me out the car making me blush gently, "I'm so lucky to have you as my soulmate,"
"I believe I'm much more luckier," he replies, wrapping an arm around my waist and leading me toward the restaurant, nodding toward the maitre'd as he fills him in about the details of his booking.
The maitre'd leads us toward a small two seater table, Mori holding the chair out for me before pushing it in when I sit down, kissing my cheek with a smile as he slips into the chair opposite. A small giggle leaving my lips as he holds my hand across the table, looking over the menu with a small hum. Different types of pastas, pizzas and salads colouring the menu.
"What do you fancy?" Mori asks looking toward me with a smile, gently rubbing his thumb over the back of my hand as he looks at me, his eyes full of love whenever he looked my way, "Pasta?"
"The pizzas look delicious, I think I might have the three cheese one," I reply, pointing toward a rather delicious looking cheese pizza with a smile before biting my lip as my eyes slide to a rather tasty looking Caesar salad, "Ooh... but the salad look really yummy too! And the carbonara looks great too!"
"You're adorable," Mori hums with a chuckle, a small smile on his lips as he kisses my knuckles, "How about I order something that you like the look of for me and you order another thing you like the look of and you can try both?"
"You'd do that?" I ask, blushing as he nods gently, "You're so sweet, Mori, are you sure?"
"Of course, anything for my soulmate," he says, blowing me a kiss while I blush, biting my lip with a grin, "So what two meals do you fancy?"
"Well, I think I'll pass on the salad, so maybe the pasta and the pizza," I explain with a smile, blushing as Mori begins to order them both to the waiter, winking my way when the waiter leaves, "Thank you Mori - kun,"
Mori smiles gently, his eyes never leaving my person. Full of nothing but love and admiration as we converse about friends and family. Not once did he tear his eyes from me. He was absolutely infatuated. Resting his chin on his hand as he listens intently to every word leaving my lips. Not once was he distracted.
I've never had anyone look at me the way he is now... And I love it!
As the food arrives, my tastebuds water, as I inhale the delicious smell of the pizza, the pasta in front of Mori who hums. Both of us excited to just devour the food before us. Smiling softly, I begin pulling a slice away, laughing as I have to stand to pull the cheese apart that's connecting the slice to the pizza, Mori managing to splash sauce into his shirt as he twirls the pasta around his fork. Holding the fork across the table for me to try. Smiling gently, I suck the thick spaghetti into my mouth and hum in delight, swallowing it down before taking a rather big chunk of my slice of pizza and chewing it happily.
"Mmmm! That's so yummy!" I exclaim, my mouth still half full of pizza making Mori chuckle as I flush deep red with embarrassment, swallowing the remaining pizza before giggling, "This is delicious!"
"You're adorable," he hums with a chuckle, gently wiping the corner of my mouth with his thumb, "I'm so very lucky,"
"I'm clumsy," I reply with a small giggle, wiping the sauce from my cheek with a napkin before diving into another slice, the cheese stretching longer than my arm as I pull the slice from my mouth making me laugh, "And rather silly,"
"It's cute," he hums with a smile, chuckling as I rather clumsily manage to get tomato ketchup on my dress, a small giggle leaving my lips, having too much fun to care about my mothers scolding, "Wouldn't have you any other way,"
"I'm really happy that you're my soulmate, Mori - kun," I tell him, gently wiping my fingers on a napkin as he slurps up some spaghetti making me shriek with laughter as sauce splashes across the table, we couldn't even care about the stares, we were having too much fun, "You were worth the wait,"
"As were you," he replies, stealing a slice of pizza, the cold and aloof personality that he was famous for at the Host Club chipping away as he greedily scoffs down the pizza slice making me gawk with a huge smile, "I don't think life has been this amazing until now,"
As we mop up our mains, the waiter boxes up the remaining five slices of pizza, Mori paying for our dinner, we begin to head home. My head resting on his shoulder as we walk down the street, eating the spare pieces of pizza. Mori pressing some cheese into my cheek making me giggle before swiping some sauce onto his nose. We were having so much fun! I don't think I've had that much fun in ages!
As we arrive back at home, my mothers eyes were close to bulging out of her face as she takes in the state of our clothes making us smile toward each other with a small laugh. My mother couldn't help but smile, happy to see me so jubilant. Clasping her hands and holding them underneath her chin as she smile softly.
"Oh, look at you two," she coos, smiling softly as Mori presses a kiss to my cheek, "Aren't you two gorgeous together? I'm so happy for you! Did you two have fun?"
"Yeah, we did," I reply, squealing with laughter as Mori picks me up and twirls me in his arms, my arms wrapping around his neck as he does so, panting with laughter as he sets me down, "He's amazing, mom,"
"It's nice to see you so happy," she says, kissing my forehead before looking toward Mori with a smile, "And you, young man, thank you very much for making my little girl happy,"
"You don't need to thank me, she's my soulmate and I'd do anything for her," Mori hums with a smile, kissing my cheek as his car rolls up, "I'll see you at school, (Y/n),"
"Thank you Mori - kun," I hum, kissing his cheek, standing on my tip toes as I do so, smiling as he blushes ever so slightly, "I love you..."
"I love you more,"...
