Chapter 73: A One Way Ticket to Oblivion
Filled with utterly anger and desperation, Jimin marched over to the head Chief's office and was determined to get in. He shoved his thoughts that doubted his plan, away as he then dropped his hands onto the door knob. “Fuck it's locked…” Jimin whispered and backed up while locking his piercing gaze onto the knob. He had no second thoughts now. In his mind, he was right. He knew there was something beyond those doors and was ready to catch the elder in his own lie.
Suddenly, Jimin kicked the knob with the bottom of his shoe. With each kick, he began to break the knob as it's screws became loose within seconds. Jimin gave it his all, but was it enough? A few looked at Jimin as if he was growing insane. Of course, Why wouldn't he? They all imagined the fact that Jungkook was dying in space and Jimin couldn't do anything. At the end of the day, they all relied on Kim Taehyung to carry on the mission, but Jimin wasn't going to give up now. He believed in his assumptions and couldn't hold back anymore. Chief Wu was hiding something big and Jimin was finally going after it alone if he had to.
Right at the last kick, the doorknob finally broke and the knob fell onto the ground where the metal let out a loud shriek as soon as it hit the cold, marbled, floor. Jimin wasted no other second to get in as an astronomer nearby, slowly rose their phone up to the level of their ear to call the Head Chief to report what Jimin has done. Little did everyone know, Jimin was actually getting to the bottom of the mystery behind his own trip that unexpectedly lasted a year and the B248 mysteriously moving on it's own.
The office within was silent and dim, only one lamp up ahead was on and the cold atmosphere around him gave Jimin flashbacks to when he was in space himself. The older approached the front desk where Chief Wu kept most of his own paperwork and business within the documents. Over the black, marbled desk, there was a computer that was kept on. He didn't seem to log off at all and the blue light of the home screen still shined within the dim room. “Alright… It might take hours to finally find something…” Jimin whispered and slowly approached the computer before locking his eyes onto an off icon over the monitor. “C-Rockets?” Jimin whispered and tilted his head in silence. “C… C… C-3 and C-12? Rocket B248-C12 and Rocket B400-C3…” Jimin whispered and double clicked the icon.
As Jimin kept his head pointing onto the loading screen, his eyes locked onto a newspaper where Jimin made headlines two years ago. The elder seemed to have many newspapers and highlights of Jimin's big expedition, but nothing else. All the accomplishments of the K.S.C.U, was set aside but Jimin's, was well recorded and kept over the desk of the Chief's office. “He must really love my expedition…” Whispered the curious man as he focused onto the office walls all around him. There was pictures of Jimin in his spacesuit and screenshots of Jimin in the B248. The Chief had an abundant amount of pictures of Jimin against walls and once Jimin looked behind him, there seemed to be a collection of Jungkook's astronaut pictures and Taehyung’s pictures as well, building up from blank spots along the bare wall. “Does he… keep pictures of us for riding in the C-Rockets?” Jimin questioned, but he never received any answers.
Pictures of him, Jungkook, and Taehyung covered the walls, but there was more of Jimin’s success of coming back from space, everywhere. All of this distracted Jimin, but the man managed to gain his focus back onto the monitor. Within the secret application, there was a password to break through the secured screen of the application. However, Jimin didn't know the password himself. “What do I do now?” Jimin whispered and before he could lose hope, he moved the newspaper aside and found a post-it note underneath with the words labeled “PASSWORD: DR.PARKJIMIN” Jimin didn't second think this password and rushed to typing it in. “Chief Wu… You aren't the wisest man, I'll tell you that.” Jimin whispered and turned his head right at the door once more before hitting enter.
His heart began to pound in fear as the screen loaded onto the site and by there, his gaze fell onto two folders labeled, “Rocket B248-C12 CONTROLS.” and another file named “Rocket B400-C3 CONTROLS.” This was it… This was the evidence Jimin needed all along. He was shocked to see that the elder held the controls within his dimmed office where he decided how long the astronauts stayed in space. With such knowledge, Jimin grew shocked to finally figure it out this way.

Within the Jewelry store, Namjoon stood in front of many displays of diamond, gold, and silver rings. His eyes gleamed with many, but he just couldn't choose just any ring. He had to choose the perfect one Jungkook could present to Jimin and propose to him with. At this moment, the man had to fill in Jungkook’s shoes to select a ring fit for Jungkook's rose. One that really shined as bright as any star. However, there was always a difficult choice when it came to choosing which one looked perfect enough.
“This is too hard…” Namjoon whispered and fixed the cuffs of his light lavender dress shirt tucked into his dress pants, held up with a leather belt and classy shoes to match with it as well. While the astronomer looked for the perfect ring for Jungkook to propose with, an employee approached Namjoon and cleared his throat to get his attention.
“Need any help finding the perfect ring?” Asked an older employee right before Namjoon. The man slowly rose his gaze up to find a handsome man standing right before him. He had full lips, broad shoulders and black silk hair. The hair was as black as paint, his skin was as pale as a blank canvas, and his red blemish over his cheeks and lips, was enough color to serve as a pallet to a work of art like him. His attire consisted of a pink dress shirt, black pants and white shoes to seal the look. Last but not least, this employee also carried a name tag over the left side of his chest spelling, “Kim Seokjin.”
“Uh… Yes.” Namjoon answered hesitantly and let out a sigh. “Long story short, My friend can't buy his lover a ring at the moment so I'm trying to pick a beautiful one for him. He's going to propose to his lover very soon. His lover is also a man.”
“That's amazing. Love is love, right? So tell me, what type of ring are you looking for?” Seokjin questioned and rested his elbow over the glass display. Looking into the eyes of the taller man before him.
“He told me to find one that ‘shines better than any other star.’ Whatever that means.” Namjoon replied and heard Seokjin chuckle with his unusual, yet adoring, windshield wiper laugh.
“He has to mean something that shines with many diamonds on it! Come on. I'll show you the perfect one, like me!” The older employee joked around and led Namjoon to another column where there was a beautiful engagement ring with many diamonds around the white, silver, 24 Karat gold. “This is our best one. But today, I'm feeling extremely helpful and since it's a slow day today, I'll give you a discount.” Seokjin mentioned with a whisper before opening the glass and pulling up the ring within the display box to show Namjoon.
“This one is perfect… I'll take it if you have one in a smaller size.” Namjoon requested and watched how the happy employee nodded his own head with excitement to help a customer out. For once, Namjoon was able to purchase the ring successfully and finally let Jimin go from his heart. He didn't want to let him go, but just buying the ring for Jungkook to propose to Jimin with, was enough to give Namjoon many reasons to finally let go.

On the other hand, back in the dim office room Jimin stood in; he discovered the controls to both rockets in space at the moment and accessed the B248 controls. “No way… it wasn't broken in the first place…” Jimin thought and noticed how the rockets controls were kept in a frozen state. Meaning that the rocket would seem like it doesn't work at all, but it really did. It was just on power-saving-mode. “It was on power-saving-mode for the longest? I thought it was broken… H-He kept me up there to die…” Jimin whispered to himself and noticed that the rocket was moved just earlier today. “Chief Wu has been moving the rocket for the longest! Why couldn't I have found this sooner? H-How did he do this? Is he planning to do the same to the B400?” The man began to panic as he took a moment to take pictures of the office and the computer alone. There was no way he was getting caught with no evidence.
Jimin kept the flash on and recorded many videos of the creepy office and several pictures of the monitor as well. Making sure he sent them all to Namjoon in case of anything. As Jimin sent all of the messages, he began to exit the application within the computer before Chief Wu could catch him, but before he could even shut the computer down, there stood the elder right at the doorway upon entering and finding Jimin in his office.
“Dr. Park, I wasn't expecting a visitor while I was off with my family.” The sound to the elder's voice was grim as he shut the door behind him and kept the lights dimmed. Keeping Jimin trapped in the office with the shady, Head Chief. “Love how you've decorated my doorknob. Although, you seem a little lost right now… I'm up for any questions, Dr. Park.” The elder added and made a big smile. “You've travelled this far to the Earth's Core… only difference is, this mission is a one way ticket to Oblivion.”
“Your words don't scare me, Chief Wu… In fact, I shouldn't call you a Chief at all. Chiefs carry respect and honor, you just hold many dirty secrets… How could you? You sent me to space and kept me there. I-I almost died! I could have died!” Jimin rose his voice and watched as the elder kept a smile to his face. “Do you know how hard it was to eat? How hard it was to sleep? Walk, talk, smile, and laugh again?! I've been through it all and Jungkook… He stuck with me and praised every little progress I've ever had! Even if he thought each and every one would be my last, he took care of me… Stayed up with me and sacrificed his social life to be with me and cheer me up when I felt so…. SO FUCKING DIFFERENT AND DONE WITH LIVING MY TORTUROUS LIFE!” Jimin shouted and began to cry as he watched the elder walk around and try to wipe the evidence he had thrown everywhere within the office by taking down diagrams of the B248.
“Such a beautiful love story… here's a little word of advice, if you want to keep it alive, I suggest you keep that dirty little mouth of yours shut…” Hissed the Chief; thinking Jimin wasn't smart enough to take evidence to report him with. “Play the good boy in this little sequence here and leave. You didn't see anything, of course… no one would believe you if you went off telling everyone about it.” The so called ‘Chief' spoke in a sly tone, but all Jimin responded with was silence. “I stand corrected.”
“You're wrong…” Jimin whispered and wiped only little of his tears left. With those bit of tears Jimin wiped, he finally began to smile as he slowly pulled out his phone and showed the elder the many photos and videos he sent to Namjoon so he would have many more copies of it in his friend's phone as well. “I'm not as stupid as I look, Sir… and surely not as stupid as you.”
