Chapter 52: A Blue Moon at last
After the trip to the supermarket, Jimin sat in Namjoon’s white car. The older drove him to the house to drop off the groceries and soon leave the man at the facility. The car ride was silent at times and Namjoon took his glances over at Jimin at times to just look at him along the way to the house. Jimin of course, noticed the older take his glances and remain silent right after. This called to the man's attention and made Jimin focus onto the Namjoon right there. “Why are you staring at me like that? Is there something you have to say?” Questioned the young man as Namjoon took a glance at his friend over at the passenger's seat.
“I was only thinking…” Silently whispered Namjoon and stopped right at the stop sign of the corner to glance over at Jimin once more.
“If you were staring at me, then you must have been thinking of me… What's on your mind?” Asked Jimin. Jimin believed it would just be a question about work, but turns out, it was the complete opposite.
“Do you feel happy with Jungkook? I know it's a stupid question… But I'd like to hear more about it. You don't really tell me anything that goes on between the two of you. And… what will happen once he leaves to space for almost a year?” Namjoon asked his questions as Jimin remained silent and nodded his head after listening to them all. Jimin never wanted to rub his relationship in Namjoon's face or even think about what will happen once Jungkook goes off to space. He knew he would miss him, but what will his days all alone in the house feel like? Jimin just didn't think too far into it. “...You don't know..?”
“First, I'm really happy with Jungkook. I just never mention it since.. You know… And, about Jungkook leaving, I just know I'll be sad and I'll miss him so much…” Jimin confessed and rolled his hair back. “I didn't think too far into it, Namjoon… I always had a feeling that I'll stop him before he goes on any further. I know it will hurt, but I don't cry now. I'll cry later on once he leaves…”
“Jimin, you'll be told to guide them once they go up there, but the thing is… I think it's better for you to talk to him. You'll feel much more better when that happens. You never… really talked to me about it before you went, so I was left hurt…” The older astronomer mentioned and this gave Jimin a moment to look at the older. “But that's not important…”
“H-How did you take it? You were so strong enough to handle it once I left and once they thought I was dead… How did you do it?” Questioned the young man repeatedly until Namjoon responded with a scoff.
“Strong? Strong didn't even cut it. I was hurt, sad, most of the time until… I met my wife. She actually made me happy and out of the anger I gained from the tears I've shed, I rushed on to marry her so I could make you jealous once you came back. However, that was when they told me you were lost and you must've died in space… it killed me and the worse thing I did was pretend it didn't bother me at all. Oh man, did it kill me…” Jimin listened to Namjoon and made a slight pout after hearing such a thing. This made Jimin feel bad over the many things he caused and feel like tears were ready to fall once he heard that alone; play over and over again in his head.
“I-I'm sorry… I did apologize but, I never thought of it like that.” The young man was really emotional listening to how people felt after his departure and even if it was about two months ago, Jimin was still reminded of it almost every day and it hit him on the weak points like nothing. “Namjoon… I know you told me about these before and I apologized… But I can't help but to feel bad about it. My father cares about Jungkook and I… Not when you and I were together. When you also tell me about how you married your wife out of the pain, I can't help but to feel like the one that ruined-”
“Don't finish that sentence. You didn't ruin anything. It was a tough start, but then… I began to appreciate the little things. Don't you worry about me… What really does get on my mind here and then, is the fact that Jungkook and you seem to grow distant from me.” Namjoon added. By now, they already arrived at the house and Jimin only sat inside the warm car to hear Namjoon out for once. “Just because I'm the ex… Doesn't mean I should be thrown off to the side like I'm some stranger. I'm still your friend… right?”
“Y-Yes you are…” Jimin assured and then removed his seatbelt to give Namjoon a hug. It's been so long since he gave the older a hug like this and could feel all the worries just slipping as soon as he hugged him tight. “Will… you be there for me once Jungkook leaves? I'll need a friend to be by and Taehyung will be gone too. You'll be all I have and losing hope on Jungkook is something I don't want to do. Please… Help me when that time comes, I don't want to grow lonely and depressed when I don't have him by my side.” Jimin whispered to Namjoon as he hugged him close. “I-I don't want to give up on him… He's my world…”
“Jimin… I'll be your shoulder to cry on. Don't worry about it, once Jungkook leaves, I'll be here whenever you need me.” Words like that felt like the most kindest promises Jimin could ever hear from his close friend; Kim Namjoon. It almost made Jungkook's departure seem more bearable now. Jimin treasured the minute he spent hugging Namjoon and found it a little off. Who knew a year ago they were together and now, Namjoon was married and Jimin had his own lover. His own lover that was not Namjoon… Only Jeon Jungkook in his universe.
Later on as promised, Jimin left his credit card with Namjoon to continue with their plan they set into action. Namjoon dropped Jimin off at the facility and went off to pick out a car for Jimin and Jungkook as Jimin finally came back to work. He stood right at the entry and let out an exhale before throwing on his black coat over the white dress shirt to match in his formal attire. “I'm back now…” Jimin whispered to himself, only thinking of seeing Jungkook after so long.
At the time, Taehyung sat over the counter of the employee lounge while Jungkook was busy making coffee for the two. Jungkook looked very plain and had his smile missing for quite some time. Even Taehyung noticed this and tried his best to cheer the younger up for a whole week. Surely, Jungkook felt the same way Jimin did and knew there was a cavity in his heart where Jimin's giggles and smiles were always filled. However, they were never awake to see each other for the remainder of the month and Taehyung knew it.
“Ah, what do you want, Jungkook?! You haven't smiled even in the training lab… Was it the dry fruit, my love?” Taehyung asked and continued to tease as Jungkook let out a scoff and shook his head.
“You know what it is… Ah, after so long, I feel so bad that I left him all alone… For four weeks I've seen him only when he sleeps; to him? He hasn't seen me at all.” Jungkook mentioned and looked at Taehyung. “I should just get over the fact that Namjoon was with him and finally send him over there to check up on my Jimin…”
“That's it! Good thinking, my cute, kookie crunch!” Taehyung chuckled and messed Jungkook's hair up. “It's childish of you to assume Namjoon would do something to him.”
“I guess it just bothered me before… You know, once Jimin went to space, the only thing that stood between them was his father. Without that, they'd be married by now and it kills me to think like that… What's wrong with me, Taehyung?” Jungkook complained and let out a sigh while having his hands against the counters. “He could be in pain right now with no one there to talk to… I did this because of jealousy, right? Ah, I hate it when I get jealous… I turn into someone I'm not… Some possessive bastard, I am.”
“Shut up, Jeonlous. You're just overprotective, that's all.” Replied the older astronomer and pushed up the center of his glasses with his middle finger. “Don't think about it too much. Besides, we've been married for almost a year now. When will you start calling me Taeddy bear? Or even Tae-bear! I thought we promised on our wedding!” Taehyung teased and dropped down onto the ground to look into the younger man's eyes. “Daddy, you're so mean to me~” The older teased and guided his hands up Jungkook's chest until Jungkook finally slapped the older's hands off. “Fuck you too.”
“Ah, Taehyung… Are you that lonely to keep this game going? I don't want Jimin to think wrong!” Jungkook laughed and stepped away from the man; holding his hands out to stop him by there. “I love you, Taehyung but only as a brother!”
“Oh calm down there, my Kookie crunch! I don't want you. I already have my prin-” Just before Taehyung could finish, Jungkook heard cheering from the station outside the employee lounge and that alone lured him out of the room to finally follow the loud cheering. Jungkook speed walked down the hall and once he took a turn around the corner; there Jimin stood right at the entrance with many people hugging him and greeting him. To Jungkook, it became such a surprise since he never expected Jimin to learn and treat his own fear all by himself. In the younger's mind, he thought Jimin would stay home; crying and hugging himself. But, Jimin turned out to be stronger than Jungkook imagined.
Within seconds, Jimin's eyes slowly met with Jungkook's from a distance and made a moving smile as if he was just falling in love once more. To him, it felt like the stars began to align and his eyes gleamed like any other bright, blue moon; where the moon appears full with blue lights gleaming as far as the eye can see.
“Jungkook…” Jimin breathed to himself and Jungkook read Jimin's lips to know exactly what he whispered. Abruptly, Jungkook started walking to Jimin, but the older chose to run. Dashing to his lover through every other astronomer in the station clearing the pathway to his lover. It felt so much like a dream to Jungkook, he thought of Jimin as the only one in his universe while everything and everyone around them was nothing but stars and planets.
In seconds, Jungkook held his arms open wide and Jimin jumped into his arms. Some astronomers were left at awe while others walked away from the scene; but this didn't bother the couple since they were in their own universe, no one else surrounded them. Only the stars. Jungkook held Jimin up as the older giggled and dropped his forehead against his lover and with that, they locked lips for the first time after such a long wait. They haven't been in each other's arms after an eternity and this very little moment turned gold once Jimin surprised his soulmate at work.
The blue moon grew full at that moment; falling in between their gazes as Jungkook finally set Jimin down to hug him tightly. “Oh, Jimin! You're all better now, aren't you?”
“A-Are you proud of me?” Whispered Jimin and dried his own tears of joy while hugging Jungkook against his own body after so long. “T-Tell me you are…”
“Jimin..” Jungkook whispered and cupped Jimin's face to press his forehead against Jimin's at last. “I'm more than proud of you, Mochi… My baby~” Jungkook chuckled and watched how star-like clusters filled Jimin's eyes at that moment. Slowly luring them in for another kiss in front of everyone. Most of them cheered and smiled at awe with the double stars before their very own eyes; kissing and embracing each other after a small wait that felt like an eternity.
