Chapter 39: Gravity without the pull
Jungkook felt as if his heart was aching now, tears streamed down his face and his eyes just didn't pull away from his Jimin. “Baby… Wake up!” The young man rose his voice and dropped his head against Jimin's chest to hear his heartbeat. “WAKE UP!” The young man cried and cupped Jimin's face. “Please… I can't lose you!” Jungkook was breaking down the more he watched his lover lay there in silence. “Jimin… Don't leave me! Not like this…” Jungkook cried continuously. But, nothing made Jimin open his eyes and see his lover before him.
Although, just leaving Jimin like this for a long time made Jungkook feel like Jimin would stop breathing soon. Things like that scared Jungkook, so he quickly held Jimin's hands and tried to pull Jimin to sit up, but his eyes were still sealed. “M-Mochi… Mochi! Wake up! I want you to wake up!” Cried the younger. He didn't know what to do, which this alone made his beliefs on taking care of Jimin, way more tougher. Jimin was weak and the only thing he did before was to feed him, have him grow used to the many things he hated before, and even learn to love again. But, those things alone didn't suffice once. Jungkook was still on the bed trying to wake Jimin up. Since he never had any experience, he sat there trying to wake Jimin up like any other person who was in a deep sleep.
Meanwhile, Jimin had a dream he couldn't seem to get out of. The older man took a good look around him and within seconds, he was back on the Rocket B248-C12 in space. Jimin was silent through it all as he then walked around the abandoned rocket with no fear. However, there was no gravity in his dream and it made every step he took, echo into his own mind.
“Jimin!”
The older flinched at the sound of his own boyfriend to glance out of the window in the rocket. “Jungkook?” Jimin whispered and opened the door to leave the B248. “Jungkook?” Jimin called out, opening the door and walking out. It was as if there was an invisible path underneath his feet and he kept walking forward to hear that Jungkook's voice grew distant. “Where are you?!”
“Wake up!”
Jimin silenced himself to follow Jungkook's voice, but then, a bright light up ahead tempted him to follow and walk into it. Jimin grew silent and didn't know what path this was but he was sure Jungkook's voice was no where near there. “Jungkook?” Jimin called out again, walking backwards from the light and turning to face a yellow planet where Jungkook stood; waiting for his lover on his knees. Jungkook looked down at the yellow planet and called to Jimin there. “There you are!” Jimin giggled and ran over to the yellow planet to climb over it happily and meet Jungkook by there.
During the time Jimin was dreaming, Jungkook kept his gaze at his Mochi and slowly began to tap him again. “W-Wake up! Please..” Jungkook cried and tried to shake him until, Jimin finally opened his eyes and coughed. “J-Jimin! Oh you're awake!” Jungkook spoke desperately and hugged his lover in his arms. “I was panicking. I thought you weren't going to wake up at all… don't scare me like that again, Park Jimin!”
“Jungkook… I'm sleepy…” Whispered the older and the sound of this made Jungkook shake his head and pull Jimin up.
“No. No, you need to walk… You need to eat something. Get up.” Jungkook demanded. He knew if Jimin was to fall back to sleep, he would never wake up ever again. “Come with me…”
“Mh… Jungkook… Please…”
“I said no.” The younger then pulled Jimin up and held him into a backhug, having Jimin's socks stand over Jungkook’s feet in black house slides. “You can't walk that well, so let's walk like this.”
“Oh you're such a hard headed boy, Jungkook!” Bickered the older and held Jungkook's hands wrapped around his own waist. “I want to sleep…”
“Walk it off, Mochi… Let's eat something.” Jungkook whispered and walked with his lover outside of the room to then reach the kitchen. “Let's make Kimchi stew today!” Jungkook tried to keep Jimin awake and set the older over the kitchen counter. “I don't want you to sleep… I was so scared…” The young man spoke into a whisper as Jimin looked down at his lover from the counter. “So… Let's make some Kimchi stew.. Or maybe some Seaweed soup… I think kimchi isn't something you need right now. Seaweed soup could help!” Jungkook told his lover and began to take out the seaweed to boil. “You need all the strength you can get.”
“Seaweed soup…? I want Kimchi stew…” Complained Jimin. He then pressed his head back against the wall and huffed in slight anger.
“Kimchi stew won't give you the nutrients seaweed soup will give you.” The young man replied and took out a pack of seaweed. “Do you feel a little better today?”
“I feel a little better today. But, my head is still spinning.”
“Hold on there, I'll have your seaweed soup ready very soon.” Jungkook claimed and took a moment to then walk back into the room to retrieve Jimin's morning pills. Jungkook quickly returned and handed Jimin the pills before serving him a cup of warm water to wash it down. “Here, please feel better.” Jungkook whispered and with that, Jimin took the pills with the usual glum look into his face. “Smile…”
“It hurts to smile when I feel like shit…” The older replied, finally taking the pills and drinking the warm water to wash it down. After that, Jungkook leaned in and gave him a kiss on his forehead and let out a chuckle.
“You'll be alright~” Jungkook promised Jimin. Jimin however, wished words like those were enough to heal him before his own father was to show up and ruin it for the two at that moment. Yet, Jimin knew fantasies like that ceased to exist in his own universe. After a long wait, Jungkook served Jimin and himself a bowl of seaweed soup. However, he had to take breaks from eating to feed his lover the hot and green seaweed soup with cuts of seaweed and lightly sprinkled salt and pepper in the bowl.
Since Jimin showed no strength, Jungkook fed Jimin every spoonful of seaweed soup until Jimin was finally done with it all. Finally, Jungkook wiped Jimin's lips clean with a napkin and never stopped his endless smiles from surfacing to his face when he met eyes with the one he loved. “There… Was it good?” Jungkook asked as Jimin finally smiled and nodded to himself. At last, he was able to smile and the blemishes began to glow from his pale cheeks. “Let's watch some episodes of ‘The Cosmos' before your father gets here…” Jungkook whispered and stood up to set the seaweed bowl away and take off his black apron. “Then, you can take a hot shower. I'll help you with that if your father doesn't mind.”
“Of course he...wouldn't, you're my caretaker.” Jimin giggled and quickly coughed into his own elbow. “In his mind, he knows you must've helped me shower. So, it's no secret that you saw me naked before. He's wrong if he thinks that was the first time you saw me naked.” Joked around the older and finally let out a soft chuckle until the two reached the couch. By there, Jungkook wrapped his lover into a thick blanket and moved in to hug him tighter against his own body. “O-Oh! Oh Jungkook you're hugging me so tightly! What will my father say if he sees us cuddling up on the couch?”
“I'll have to open the door for him, so he won't catch us like this.” Jungkook assured. Rolling Jimin's hair back and leaned in to kiss his cheek again. “I'll always be by your side, my Mochi.” Jungkook promised and with that being said, Jimin pressed his head over Jungkook's chest and watched ‘The Cosmos’ together like they always would. It felt like their time together was endless, even if the gravitational pull between them would fade away with Mr. Park standing in their path to their own universe, Jungkook and Jimin made the most of their time together. Their relationship would be just love like gravity without the pull to hold them closer to each other.
Jungkook knew having Jimin by his side would come with issues in the eyes of Mr. Park. Jimin learned to get used to louder sounds, he learned to walk and run, learned to handle talking about the stars and space at the very end. On the other hand, he still had issues confronting many other people outside the house. Now, that was a big issue Jungkook knew Mr. Park could bring up against them both. Within a month, they progressed in everthing, but not Jimin's social anxiety. The reason behind this was that, Jungkook was scared to take Jimin out because last time, Jimin hugged his own knees to cry endlessly from the pressure of every stare he was given. He couldn't hear them, but he could feel them. Jungkook despised seeing Jimin like this and quickly took him home after such a horrifying moment with the crowd surrounding them. That was something Jungkook just never wanted to do again.
As they sat in to watch their show together, Jimin smiled and moved his head up to Jungkook's neck and made a smile at him. “K-Kiss me…” Jimin whispered into a request as Jungkook looked down at Jimin; resting his arm around his lover's shoulder and gazing at him happily.
“I won't kiss you. You're sick, Mochi.” Jungkook laughed and rose his free hand to caress Jimin's gentle face. “Maybe a peck.” The man then moved his head in and gave his boyfriend a peck on the lips. “Ah, I'm so surprised I'm not sick right now…”
“That's the point! I want you to get sick with me!” Jimin giggled and then coughed into his own blanket wrapped around himself. “Get sick with me~”
“Oh gross… How could you say something like that and make it sound so romantic?” Jungkook questioned and by there, Jimin pressed his head against Jungkook's neck and softly pressed kisses against his skin. “Stop, then I'll have to take another hot shower and gargle salt water… Again!”
“You love me~” Cooed the man and right before Jungkook could play around with his lovely boyfriend, there was a knock at the door and it made a chill run down his spine. In seconds, his phone began to ring and once Jungkook glanced at the caller ID, he knew it was Mr. Park right at the door. “Is he… here?”
“Yes…” Jungkook replied and stood up to leave Jimin on the couch. “Guess I won't be able to be by your side for a week now.” Jungkook told Jimin and gave him one last kiss on his lips before walking to the door and pulling it open. By there his phone stopped ringing and Jungkook met eyes with Mr. Park. There, the man stood with a big smile. He wore a green plaid vest, bright yellow khakis, brown classy shoes and another bag to carry a thermo filled with hot soup, containers of rice, and boiled beef as well.
Mr. Park carried a big smile across his face that reflected Jimin's in many ways. The man stepped up and let out a happy chuckle. “Hello, Jungkook. Long time no see!” The elder claimed and the younger bowed to greet Mr. Park.
“Hello, Mr. Park. Jimin took his medicine and had seaweed soup today.” Jungkook informed the elder as he stepped in and took off his shoes at the entrance in order to take out his own, dark brown, house slides from one pocket of the leather bag.
“Oh that's good. How's my son?” Mr. Park questioned and walked over to the couch where Jimin was sitting and watching television. “Do you have a headache?”
“No… Just my body hurts and my temperature is burning high.” Jimin replied to his father and made a smile to hold his father's hand so he could feel his body temperature through his hands.
“Ah, I can tell… Don't worry! Sit there, I'll put your meal in the kitchen for later. You'll get better in no time.” The father assured as Jungkook sat down on the opposite couch from Jimin and went through his own phone in silence. Jimin despised having Jungkook sit afar from him, so he then got up and walked over to the couch Jungkook sat in. The older didn't care about his father knowing, so he limped over to his Jungkook and sat next to him whether Jungkook wanted to or not.
“Jimin… What are you doing?” The younger asked into a soft murmur and chuckled before Jimin could sit right by his side and rest his head over his lover's shoulder. Not really caring that his father caught every little movement between them. Mr. Park smiled at the two. He was aware of Jimin's sexuality and found out he was dating Namjoon before, but he had no issues with Jungkook and Jimin growing so close. That was only because in the elder's mind, Jungkook still had Lee-Young.
Mr. Park grinned to himself at the ‘friendship’ the two held between each other. However, as he walked over to the kitchen, he took one last glimpse at the two before catching a purple hickey over the lower part of Jimin's neck. At that moment, Jungkook and Jimin completely forgot about the hickey the older held over his pale skin. They tried so hard to hide it that only now, Mr. Park finally caught it and the sight of it was enough to silence the elder in seconds.
