Chapter 36: A Meteorite

That night, Jungkook served Jimin herb tea, yet Jimin only left it halfway down the base of the white mug. Not even the older could finish the tea on his own. Every second, he felt like he was getting worse by then. Jungkook of course, didn't dare to keep his distance away from his Jimin and hugged him close. The young man made Jimin wear an oversized, white, sweater and baggy, loose, white, bottoms with matching socks as well. The young man had Jimin wrapped around in a blanket to keep him warm against his body. By now, his body temperature rose and he began to cough into his small hands as his eyes were kept shut.

“You'll get better, Jimin. Even if I have to call your father, it's the only way I can keep you healthy. Sometimes… I can't do this on my own. …” Jungkook whispered to himself to guide his hands up Jimin's gentle body that grew frail like glass within seconds. “I might do something wrong and hurt you for many years to come. You're still so fragile…” Whispered the younger. For the remainder of the night, he hugged Jimin close and pressed a kiss over his lover's forehead. “I'll have to call him in the morning…” Concluded the man in his head.

By dawn, Jungkook woke up to see that Jimin turned away from his lover and dangled his head over the edge of the bed. Jimin was awake; However, he couldn't sleep right after coughing and experiencing discomfort. Jungkook noticed Jimin was awake and he only tilted his head to focus on Jimin more.

            “How are you today, Mochi?”

“H-Horrible…” Jimin whispered and pouted right after. “You tried to kill me!”

“No I didn't. Lay down correctly or else you'll get a headache.” Jungkook replied. The younger then fixed Jimin over the bed and fluffed his pillow right behind him. “Look at you.. You're as pale as a ghost and your nose and eyes are red. My Mochi… I'll cook something for you and bring a hot towel for you to place over your forehead. How does that sound?

“Y-Yes… Ah, thank you…” Jimin's voice then fell silent as he let off a huff right after. “Oh Jungkook… m-my body hurts…”

“I know, Mochi.” Jungkook replied. By there, the younger man then moved his head in and kissed Jimin's forehead. “Stay strong for me, Okay, Mochi?”

“Mmh…” Jimin hummed. By there he started to cry once Jungkook got up from the bed. “J-Jungkook… Don't go..” Jimin cried softly and made Jungkook look back and let out a chuckle that erupted seconds after. “S-Stay here… with me…”

“Oh you're so clingy, My love.” The young man spoke and walked towards the door when Jimin sat up and cupped his own face to cry and suddenly let out a cough. “I'll be quick and I'll bring you some tea and get you breakfast. Nothing fried and only healthy.” Jungkook assured.

“I-I… I wanna go with you too…” Jimin cried and covered his hot and red face. “Please…”

“Oh Jimin, please lay down. I know it's too much for you. But please bear with me, my Mochi.” The younger continued to speak gently until Jimin laid back and turned over to hug himself in silent sobs. “Ah, I hate leaving him like this…” Jungkook thought in his hollow mind that was only filled with the thoughts of Jimin in the early morning. Jungkook walked over to the other bathroom right outside his room and got ready for his day in there. He washed his face, brushed his teeth and wore a facemask before leaving the bathroom so quickly.

Jungkook then walked into Jimin's room and picked up his phone that was charging over the nightstand. Jungkook approached his phone and picked it up right when it was fully charged after a long night. On the lock screen of his phone, he had a picture of Jimin smiling as if he took the picture himself and snuck it into the lock screen. But as always, Jungkook didn't mind it because he would smile at the pictures Jimin took on his own. They were always like surprises when Jungkook would access his phone and see new pictures Jimin took to leave in there.

Jungkook then swiped his lock screen to see that Jimin had a picture of himself shirtless and sleeping over his lover's exposed chest while they both had their eyes closed. Jungkook was resting at the time and Jimin only closed his eyes for the picture. Other than that, it was a lovely picture at his home screen; even hickeys seemed more visible right there.

“My cute little Mochi…” Jungkook spoke to himself before tapping onto his phone contacts and finding Mr. Park's number. “Ah, I'm going to regret this…” Jungkook told himself before calling the man.

The other side of the call began to ring as Jungkook rushed outside of the room and made his way over to the kitchen while he waited for Mr. Park to answer his phone. After the second call, Jimin’s father finally answered and this made Jungkook feel like the world fell onto his shoulders.

“Goodmorning, Mr. Park. How are you?” Jungkook asked so nervously as the elder chuckled over the phone.

“I'm doing great. Anyways, how's everything at the house? How are you? How is my Jimin's recovery coming together? How is he?” Mr. Park threw questions left and right, only making Jungkook grow too nervous to know where to tell the father about Jimin falling ill for the third time in the month.

“Well… Jimin and I have been doing great. His health is great… However, that was until yesterday night. Jimin got… sick again…” Jungkook told the elder as Mr. Park grew silent for a second and exhaled to himself.

              “Jungkook…”

“I-It's not my fault. I tried my best to keep his health up. I don't know what got him sick and-”

“I know it isn't your fault, Jungkook. Ah, I'll make sure I come over there for at least a week. Is he really sick? If he doesn't seem too sick, you can take over, but if he's in bad shape, then this calls for me to stay over there for at least a week.” Mr. Park claimed and Jungkook nodded his head to himself.

“Yes, he's in bad shape. I don't know what to do… I could take care of him the first time he got sick, but this one tripled and he's crying… A lot.” Jungkook said into the call while pressing his shoulder against the phone to hold it up as he boiled water for his lover's morning tea. “I'm making him ginseng tea, toast with jelly, pancakes and a small bowl of fruit. Is that okay?”

“Yeah, go ahead.” Mr. Park answered and took a moment to think about this. “I'll come over soon. Alright? I'll be there to help. Until then, text me his symptoms and I'll check with his doctor to get his medications at the pharmacy. Take good care of him. I'll call you soon.”

“O-Oh thank you, Mr. Park. I'll hang up now.” Jungkook told the elder and hung up as soon as the man said his goodbye. After Jungkook hung up, he began to make Jimin's breakfast that consisted of toast spread with room temperature strawberry jelly, fruits placed into a smaller bowl along with three pancakes stacked over the other. Jungkook knew he shouldn't add anything sweet to the pancakes like syrup, so the boy relied on the jam for Jimin to eat the meal with.

After a good while, Jungkook flipped the last pancake and adjusted the black apron over his chest. Next, he fixed strawberries, blueberries and apple slices with orangesㅡthe boy carefully took time to peelㅡ and set them into a smaller bowl over a steel tray. Jungkook kept Jimin's usual vitamins on a small dish over the tray, his ginseng tea filled into a black and steel thermos, a flat and white porcelain plate with four triangle-cut toast with the strawberry jelly smeared over it along with the two pancakes sitting on another plate in the tray. Jungkook waited for the last pancake and stood there to glance at the time. He took off twenty-five minutes to do this for Jimin and just couldn't wait to see Jimin eat at least something ㅡEven if Jimin might throw it up at the very end of the breakfast.ㅡ

After the last pancakes was done, Jungkook set it over the stack and took off his apron. The man then carried a small butter knife and a jar of jelly onto the tray as well so Jimin could spread the jelly onto the pancakes so easily. As Jungkook eventually reached the bedroom Jimin was in, Jimin was sitting up and staring at nothing with his eyes partially opened. The young man then stepped in and Jimin fixed his eyes over his boyfriend that came to see him.

             “Jungkook…”

“How are you, Mochi?” Jungkook questioned and sat next to Jimin on the bed while still holding the tray for his Jimin. “Are you feeling a little better?” The boy asked again as he then pressed the back of his hand against Jimin's forehead to feel the heat not even dying down for a minute! “I see it didn't go down at all… Don't worry, I called your father and he'll be here soon. He says he'll be here for a week. Is that okay with you?”

“That's it… We're done for! He'll find… my hickeys and he'll take me from you.” Jimin whispered and sat up while Jungkook set the tray over Jimin's lap so he could eat. “I hate getting sick… It's like-” Jimin then stopped to cough into his elbow and let out a sharp exhale.

“You don't know that. Maybe he'll support us.” Commented the boy as Jimin then scoffed and began to take the lid off the thermo so he could take his vitamins.

“He didn't like Namjoon and I together… What makes you think he'll want us together?” Jimin shot back and rubbed his tired eyes. “I'm… s-sorry Jungkook… when I'm sick...I turn into a jerk...”

“That's okay. I've noticed it before. Either way, you're an adult. You don't have to wait for him to have the final say on your happiness. You love me just as much as I love you so, you can tell him that we're happy together. I get that the parents' final say to it all matters, but don't we matter too?” Jungkook wondered and watched Jimin take his vitamin and drink out of the thermos. “Ah, never mind that… Just focus on recovering, I don't want to stress you out on this. You just lay here and get better. Do I make myself clear?”

“Yes, Jungkook.” Jimin answered and looked down at the thermos. “I… I feel so nauseous…”

“Try to eat… I'll keep the bathroom door open for you.” The younger man then moved in and gave Jimin a kiss on the side of his head before pressing his own against Jimin's shoulder. “I want you to get better as soon as possible. Be strong for me… Please, eat.” Jimin listened to his boyfriend plead and by there, Jimin picked up two toasted breads spread with warm strawberry jam and handed the other to his boyfriend.

“Just… Because I'm sick… doesn't mean you have to skip breakfast to make sure I eat.” Jimin's soft voice whispered to Jungkook as the younger man then let out a chuckle and looked up at Jimin, having his lover feed him as well. “Oh Jungkook, you're going to get yourself sick, you idiot..”

“I can take a hot shower and gargle some salt water. That always does the trick.” Laughed the younger. Just then, Jungkook's phone began to ring and it made the younger quickly spring up. “That must be your father.” Jungkook answered as Jimin sighed and looked down at the two toasted breads they took their own bites on. “I'll be right back.”

Jungkook then left the bathroom door open for the older man and made it outside. There was a quick glimpse Jungkook took at the window to see the shadow of someone's shoes right behind the door. Jungkook then glanced at the caller ID to answer Mr. Park and smiled. “Hello, Mr. Park. Are you here already?”

“Ah, sorry I couldn't make it. However, I did send someone who was going to help a lot. It's Taehyung! He has missed you for a good while and the only way to shut him up was to send him there to help. Don't worry, I sent him with the medications and soup for Jimin right after you hung up. I'll be there for tomorrow, until then. Taehyung must be there, give him a while.” Mr. Park advised as Jungkook slowly approached the door after.

“He's here, thank you…” Jungkook spoke and hung up within seconds. Taehyung was finally here and Jungkook worried about how things will end up between Taehyung and Jimin. To the young man; Taehyung always viewed Jimin as some type of meteorite that would come shooting down and crushing something just like his hopes before, but only now… Taehyung was finally here to take a good look at the destruction seconds before it happens. During Jimin's expedition, Taehyung had always hoped for something to hurt Jimin physically. However, Taehyung never knew that he himself was hurting his own ex-best friend mentally. In which, became even more painful compared to just a meteorite hitting surface.
