Girl Meets Forgiveness Project.
VERY IMPORTANT AUTHORS NOTE AT END OF CHAPTER. PLEASE READ, DON'T SKIP IT...
Now onto the story guys, what you waiting for?
LALALALALALALALALALALALA
My daughter,
I want your forgiveness. I don't deserve it but I want it. The past almost year here sucked, do you know how bad people get beat in here for abusing your child? A lot. It's made me think. I'm soon somewhat realizing what I did was wrong. And now I hear you're off living with your best friend, Maya, is it? That must be fun for you.
Anyways, There will be a surprise for you in a few days. I wont tell you what it is. That's for you to find out. You'll love it.
I hope you decide to visit soon so I don't have to write another letter. This is boring and making me want a drink, and not of water. But just remember, your surprise will be soon, maybe a week or so. Have fun.
-Your father.
--------------------------
I out the letter down and look at Farkle who was laying next to me. "Was this really all he wrote for? To tell me he wants forgiveness?"
"He's crazy." Farkle says.
"Got that right." I say. I look back at the letter, "what do you think the surprise is?"
"Honestly I don't know. But coming from him, I don't think anything good." He tells me. I sigh, "But I'll be here for you, you never have to be alone."
I smile at him and kiss his cheek.
-----------
The next day in class.
"All through history, countries go to war. That's what we normally study in here. But today, we're going to talk about peace and forgiveness and how we get there. Every once in a while, I come up with a good idea." Matthews says to us.
"What could it possibly be that I haven't already thought of?" Farkle asks.
"Farkle, I forgive you." Cory says to him.
"What did I do?" He asks, confused.
"I forgive you too." Zay says.
"What did I do?!" Farkle asks.
"You know what you do." Zay tells him.
"I feel better now that I've forgiven you. How do you feel?" Cory asks the boy.
"I'm sorry for every time I've hurt you! What did I do?!" Farkle asks.
"Ladies and gentlemen, today we're going to begin the forgiveness project. Our history isn't just about what we've done. How we grow comes from the repair of what we've done and how we forgive what was done to us." Cory says.
"Hmm. We're in. What do we do?" Riley asks her dad.
"So this isn't your laptop or your cell phone. You've got unlimited characters here. As many words as you want." Cory hands out red envelopes to the class including me. "The impact will last longer than six seconds. And I guarantee you, it's never going to disappear. So pick up a pen. Express feelings. This is one of the most important things you're ever going to do. You're about to forgive someone."
"What's this got to do with history, Matthews?" I ask him.
"It gives you a chance to change it." I sigh at his answer. Nothing can change history.
"Like when I forgave Auggie for biting the face off my Beary-the-Bear bear." I shake my head at my best friend.
"That wasn't forgiveness, honey." Matthews tells her.
"Why not?" She asks him.
"Because you haven't gotten over it." He says.
Riley shows off her Beary-the-Bear bear that Auggie chewed on. "This is the first thing I see every day." She tells us.
"So is there anyone in your life that you want to forgive? Change your history. Go." Cory says.
Riley writes, while saying, "Dear Auggie the murderer..."
"Emily, Maya, no one in your life you want to forgive?" Cory asks us. I give him a glare.
"No." We both answer.
"Don't you think now would be a good time?" Lucas says. Maya gives Lucas a stare.
"You and your mom are in a good place. You're strong, Maya. Don't you want to forgive him one day? Why not now?" Riley asks. Maya laughs as she starts to write; Riley chuckles along; Maya hands Riley a note. "Ahem. "Riley, butt out. I am serious. Butt your butt out." Riley turns to Maya. "I forgive you."
"Em?" I turn and look at Farkle.
"Maybe now's your chance." He says to me.
I shake my head before turning around in my chair.
------------
I was at the bakery eating a muffin while Katy and Topanga were talking. Riley and Maya were talking on the couch.
"Really, Topanga, please don't worry about this." Katy says to Topanga.
"No, I told you guys that I would come and help out when I can, and I can today." She says to us.
"Yeah. No." Katy says.
"You don't think I can do this, do you?" Topanga asks Katy.
"I think that you are Topanga Matthews, attorney at law, and that might perhaps color the way that you deal with customers, who I don't even think will believe that you're a waitress." Katy says.
"I could be a fine waitress." She says and Katy and I all share a look. Topanga goes to a customer. "And what will you have, sir?" She asks him.
"Yeah, give me the cheesecake." He answers.
"You want to try that a different way, chief?" Topanga asks him.
"No!" Howie says.
"Okay. Hey, Howie." Katy says and gives Howie the cheesecake. "Oh, there you go. You know what comes with our biggest piece of cheesecake? Our biggest smile."
"Ha! Don't ever leave me again." Howie says.
"Aw, thanks, Howie." Katy says.
"I was talking to the cheesecake." Howie tells her. I let out a small laugh.
"Okay, one more." Topanga says.
"No more ever." Katy replies.
"No. I'm gonna try that guy, right over there." Topanga points to a blond-haired gentleman with a scruffy beard who enters with some blond woman.
"No, I got him." Katy says, her voice different from before.
"Okay. I'll learn from you." She says.
"You're going to want to watch what happens next very carefully." Maya says to Riley and I. I give her a confused.
"Why? Your mother's great at this, Maya. What could happen?" Riley asks.
"Hello, sir. How are you today?" Katy asks him.
"I'm-" He starts but she cuts him off.
"You a little hungry, are you? Is that why you've come here? Are you a little hungry? Is that-" He cuts her off now.
"What do you recommend?" He asks her.
"I recommend the first thing that I can get my hands on." Katy says then turns to Topanga. "Give me something."
"Okay." Panga takes the cheesecake away from Howie. "You should have said please!" She gives the cheesecake to Katy.
"That's what I recommend!" Katy says and picks up the cheesecake and smears it on the dudes face.
Topanga gasps and says to Katy. "You can do that? I didn't know you could do that. I would love to do that."
"Oh, my gosh, is that him? Is he him? Did you do it? Did you do the assignment?" Riley asks.
"I wrote something, and I mailed it. Tell me it was a good move." Maya says.
"It was a bad move." Riley and I both say.
"Why?" Maya asks.
"Tried it. It doesn't work! They don't apologize. Forgiveness is for jerks." Riley says.
"I'm glad you told me in time!" Maya says.
Katy continues throwing food at Kermit, Maya's dad. I'm 98% sure its him.
"I don't understand. Is this guy our millionth customer?" Panga asks.
"No!" Katy exclaims.
"Sir, why are you okay with this?" Topanga asks the man.
"I kind of expected it." Kermit replies.
Maya gets up and walks to Kermit's table.
"Hi, Maya." He says.
"Hi, Dad." She says.
Riley walks to Kermit's table. "Hi. I'm Riley. I've heard a lot about you."
"Hi, Riley. You a good friend of Maya's?" Kermit asks.
"What?" Riley asks him.
"Riley is my best friend. But you wouldn't know much about her. Or me." Maya says.
"Thank you for being Maya's best friend." Kermit says to her.
"It's easy because Maya's great. She's the best person I know." Riley says.
"Then I'm happy she found you." He says.
"I was picturing a monster. He doesn't seem like a monster. He seems like Frosty the ..snow-guy." Riley says to Maya.
"What are you doing here, Kermit?" Katy asks.
"I was invited." Kermit shows the red envelope Maya sent him.
"What?" Katy asks.
"This is all my dad's fault." Riley says.
"Your father had an idea?" Topanga asks.
"Uh-huh." Riley says.
"I apologize immediately. Your food is on the house." Topanga says to him.
"That's very nice of you, because I wouldn't have been able to afford all of this. May I please borrow a towel and your sink? And I'll take this to go." Kermit says, pointing to the cheesecake smeared on his face.
The woman that was at Kermit's table stands up, watching me. I give her a weird look as she walks towards me. Yep, stranger danger.
"Katy, some lady's approaching me. Can I scream stranger danger?" I ask her as she walks behind the counter.
"I'm right her Em, you're fine." She replies, I nod.
"Are you Emily Daniels?" The lady asks me.
"Yeah, who are you?" I ask.
"Emily." Katy says to me. I sigh.
"Yes?" I ask the lady.
"Emily," The lady says, "I'm- I'm your mom."
I take a deep breath, and look at Maya, she was wide eyed, as was Katy.
I look back at the lady in front of me. "No, no you're not." She gives me a confused look.
"Em-"
"You may have been the woman to give birth to me, raise me for like four years. But you abandoned me. You left me, with an abusive asshole. You are not my mother." I say to her. I look at Katy, then back to her. "Katy is more of a mother than you have ever been to me my entire life. Not you."
She stares at me shocked, as well as Katy. I look at Katy. "I have- I have to go." She nods at me. I grab my phone and rush out of the café.
---------
"Farkle?" I ask into the phone once he picks me up. I was staring up at a building I haven't been to in a long time.
"Em? Maya called me. Are you okay? Where are you?" He asks me.
"Can you meet me somewhere?" I ask him.
"Where?" He asks me.
"The Prison?" I ask.
"Are you doing what I think you are doing?" He asks.
"Yeah, yeah I am." I answer.
"I'll be there in ten minutes." He says. I hang up and look back at the building and sigh.
-----------
"Are you ready for this?" Farkle asks me as we followed a guard to the meeting area.
"As ready as I'll ever be." I answer as we enter the small room. There was a table and a part for hand cuffs to be cuffed onto it. A glass wall on two sides. Only one you can see out though. The guard has us sit down and told us to wait a minute. I play with the letter in my hand.
"It's gonna be okay." Farkle whispers in my ear. I nod, staring at the table. Farkle held one of my hands that were on my lap.
"When I heard you had came here, I didnt believe it. But here you are." I hear a voice say. I look up and see my father. He sits down across from us as the guard hand cuffed him to the table. "Are these really necessary?" The guard looked at me then him then goes to stand by the wall, not saying a word. "Guess so."
I roll my eyes. "You knew she was gonna show up? Was that my surprise?" I ask him. He turns to me.
"Well, yes darling I knew. Quite a surprise right?" He asks me. I dont answer and he looks at Farkle. "This your little boyfriend?" He asks. I look down at the letter.
"You said you wanted forgiveness. Why? Why now?" I ask him.
"Well Emily, I've changed." He says. I shake my head.
"People like you don't change." I say. "You'll never change."
"What I did to you was wrong." He says.
"Your therapist tell you to say that?" I ask him.
"Emily." He says, sternly.
I look back up at him. "What? You- you expect one visit and a stupid letter is gonna make me forgive you?" I scoff. I throw the letter on the table. "You beat me for years. I have actual scars that will never go away. I have memories that never fade. Every damn time i close my eyes, all i can see is you beating me or the bruises. You may want forgiveness, but you sure as hell. Don't deserve it." I say and stand up, taking a deep breath.
"You knew she was coming, you knew. So now I get to tell both of you I hate you guys." I say to my father then leave the room.
----------
"How's the forgiveness project going?" Cory asks.
"You killed us, Matthews." I say to him.
"I gotta say, Matthews, I don't know what you were thinking." Riley says to her father.
"You think forgiveness leads to peace?" Lucas asks.
"It leads to war in a movie theater." Zay says.
"Lights go down, the movie starts, I made Farkle sit in the other corner of the theater so he can't ruin anything." Lucas says.
"Sounds like good strategy." Matthews says.
"Yeah. Then a cowboy comes on the screen. Farkle yells-" Farkle cuts off Lucas.
"Dead!" He yells.
"An old prospector comes on the screen." Zay says.
"Alien looking for a time portal." Farkle says.
"Next comes a cheerleader." Lucas says.
"How is there a cheerleader in this movie?" I ask.
"No kidding." Farkle says.
"Well, I'm sure some of you had a better experience."
"Forgiveness doesn't work, Dad. I forgave Auggie and he didn't thank me." Riley says.
"Riley, did you really forgive Auggie?" Cory asks her.
"No!" She exclaims.
"Maya, did you forgive your father?" He asks me.
"No." Maya answers.
"Emily? Your mom? Dad?" I look down.
"And we didn't forgive Farkle." Farkle says. Zay hurls a rolled-up piece of paper at him. "Ow."
"Well, it sounds to me that forgiveness is harder than it looks." Cory says.
"I tried. Made it real clear. Want to hear it?" Maya asks.
"If you're all right with it." Cory says.
Maya reads the letter. "In school, I'm learning about forgiveness. What you did makes me have a lot of angry feelings inside of me. I don't want to be angry anymore. Why did you leave? Did I do something? Make me understand what I did. Your daughter, Maya." Lucas puts his hand on her shoulder in comfort. I ship it.
"Did he help you to understand what happened?" Cory asks.
"No." Maya says.
"Why not?" Cory asks.
"I mean, I guess I never gave him the chance to explain." Maya says.
"Riley, why did Auggie bite your bear's face off?" Cory asks.
"I don't know." Riley answers.
"Why not?" Matthews asks.
"I never asked him." Riley says.
"Emily, why did your mom leave?"
"I don't know."
"Lucas? Zay?" he asks.
"Farkle, why do you tell us the end of the movies?" Lucas asks.
"Well, because you're good at everything you do." Farkle tells Lucas then turns to Zay. "You got that class-clown thing going." he says. "All I've got is my mind, so I try to impress you with it any way I can. "Oh, Farkle, you don't need to impress us. We love you just the way you are."
"Farkle, we are never going to the movies with you again." Lucas says.
"Ever." Zay adds.
"Guess you missed that one. Huh, Farkle?" Lucas says.
"No, I didn't." Farkle says.
"Oh, Farkle, you don't need to impress us." Maya says.
"We love you just the way you are." Riley says.
"Movie?" Farkle asks me.
"Anytime." I answer.
"We gotta get better minds, man." Zay says to Lucas.
"Yeah, we do." Lucas agrees.
"All of you do. Better minds know that sometimes to really forgive someone, it helps to understand them first. It gives the other person the chance to be heard from too." Cory says.
"Why can't you just admit that you're wrong about this?" I ask him.
"Because forgiveness is one of our finest qualities as human beings, Emily. You have to understand each other before you can even begin to know what comes next. Go understand each other. See what happens. Your assignment hasn't even begun until you do." He says.
----------------
Maya didn't forgive her dad. And it turns out, her dad and my mom are married. So even though none of them stayed, Maya and I are kinda sisters even more now.
"Emily?" I hear a voice from behind me as I sat in the café next to Farkle and Maya. Riley was sitting on the other chair.
I turn and see Melissa, my mother. "What?" I ask her.
"Can we please talk?" She asks me.
I sigh and let go of Farkle's hand and stand up, I walk out of the café and sit at one o the tables in the corner. She followed and sat across from me.
"What do you want to talk about?" I ask her calmly, not having the energy to yell at two people this week.
"I want us to talk more. And to be in each others lives." She answers.
I scoff. "You left me with an abusive father. You knew what he was gonna do after you left." I say. "Why'd you never take me with you? Save both of us?"
"Because I knew that if I took you as well, he would come after us and find us. I thought that if I left you with him. He wouldn't try to find me." She answers. I look at her bewildered.
"He looked anyway. But, you- you left me to save your own ass?"
"That's not what I meant." She says.
"Well how is there any other way to mean what you said?" I ask.
"Emily-" I shake my head.
"You know, when you first showed up, I was gonna forgive you. But- but for you to tell me you left me, with the man who abused you, just to save your own self. I- I can't forgive you." I say to her. "I spent most my life scared of someone who was supposed to protect me from danger, not be the cause of the danger in my life. I spent most my life hating you." I tell her. "But I don't hate you anymore. Yes, I hate the reason you left me with him. But if you hadn't I wouldn't have met my friends, my boyfriend, Katy- who is more of a mother than you will ever be." I say. "I'm done hating you but I will never forgive you, and I don't want you in my life." I tell her then stand up. "Go back to wherever you were before you came back, go back to your husband, Kermit. And please don't give me another reason to hate you." I tell her then walk back into the bakery, letting the tears, that were welling in my eyes, fall.
I let out a choked sob. I close my eyes, letting the tears fall. I feel a pair of arms wrap around me. "It's okay sweetie." Katy says to me as I cry on her shoulder.
"Is it?" I ask her.
"It will be, you just have to have hope and give it time." She tells me. I hug her back.
"Thank you, for everything." I say to her.
"Always sweetheart." She says to me.
--------
"Okay there is a blindfold on my face. And if I fall, you're in trouble." I say to my boyfriend who was guiding me somewhere.
"You're not gonna fall." Maya says from somewhere in front of us.
"But-"
"Em, I'm not gonna let you fall." Farkle says to me.
"Okay, we're almost there." Riley says. I sigh.
After a few more minutes we were there. "Here!" Maya exclaims happily.
"Great, can I take this off yet?" I ask.
"No, not yet." Lucas answers.
I groan. "Calm down Emily." Zay says.
"Shut up." I say. I just know he's rolling his eyes.
"Okay, take the blindfold off." Maya says. I sigh and take it off. I look around the room seeing the five, plus Katy, Austin, Topanga and Cory and Auggie. I didn't recognize where we were though.
"What's going on?" I ask.
"We have something to give you." Maya says. She and Katy share a smile.
"Okay." I say confused. Katy hands me an envelope. I take it and look back at her.
"Open it sweet heart." She tells me. I look back at the envelope confused but starts opening it.
I take a deep breath, then grab the paper that was in the package.
My heart falls to my stomach, not literally, as I read it. I look at Katy, tears welling in my eyes. "Really? This- this isn't some joke?"
"No, its not a joke." She replies. I let out a sob.
"You're really doing this?" I ask her.
"I already did." She answers, a smile across her face.
"You already?"
She nods at me with a smile. I let out more tears. "Come here baby girl." She says to me and pulls me into a hug.
"Thank you so much." I say to her.
"You're welcome baby girl." She says to me. We pull out of the hug.
"So Emily." Maya says.
"So Maya." I say, a smile on my face.
"We're officially sisters." She says to me. I smile and hug her tightly. She hugs me back. I can tell she's crying now too.
"We're officially sisters." I repeat.
--------------------------
So, what did you all think? Emily's dad's letter was at the beginning. Then her mom showed up. She went to see her dad. And then talked to her mom. And then that above happened. :D Her mom is played by Sharon Case. Gif of her in media. So I have a few questions about some things and don't want to put them in a dif. chapter.
So first one, how much did you guys like this chapter?
Did you guys like the ending?
Also, do any of you know how to make a manip? Cause I need a few for this book.
And lastly (I think), What do you guys think of this cover and mood board edit below? I am not gonna tell you what these are for.
But okay, please comment lovelies. I'm tired so I'm prob gonna go to bed its like 3:35 am here. Anyways whatever, again, please comment. Thanks for reading. Bye.
-Kelly.
