Chapter 5: Snow Present

Jack knocked on Mary's window. Mary rose from bed with a small pillow head, smiling at Jack. Jack slid in as Mary slid to the edge of her bed.

Jack grinned. "Hi."

Mary spoke nervously. "H-hi. I thought you weren't coming tonight."

Jack raised a brow. "Why would you think that?"

Mary shrugged. "Well... Peter was the only one that promised he was coming tonight and last night you just said 'good night.'"

Jack smiled. "I'm sorry for misleading you." He walked over to Mary. "You wanna go somewhere?"

Mary looked back at her clock. She only had 5 hours until she would have to walk to school, but she couldn't sleep. She wasn't tired. She nodded. "Just let me get dressed." She walked into her closet and changed her clothes to what she would wear to school.

She heard Jack laugh. "Are you done yet?"

She opened the closet door and Jack was right in front of her, with less than a few inches seperating them. She froze, feeling her heart beat rapidly. Jack smiled nervously. "Uhm... are you ready to go?"

Mary nodded. "Y-yeah." She moved back. "Let's go."

Jack smiled, hoisting Mary onto his back and flying out the window. Mary looked back at her room which grew smaller and smaller as they flew away. Soon all of Las Vegas was in view and Mary couldn't help but find the view breath-taking. She smiled and held onto Jack a bt tighter.

Jack grinned. "Beautiful, isn't it?"

Mary nodded. "Do you see this kind of stuff everyday?'

Jack threw Mary up in the air, flying on his back and catching Mary. "Cities like those? Yes. A girl like you? No."

"A-a girl like me?" Mary blushed.

Jack nodded. "Not many girls, or teenagers for that matter, have the heart of a child." He lifted them up right on the roof of a house. Jack moved a few stray hairs out of Mary's face. "Many people don't believe in me for very long or have to be convinced that I exist." He looked at Mary through his eye lashes. "I don't know why you do, but I'm glad you believe. So I'm going to show you something." He took a hold of Mary's hand and a small, snow-covered spot of the mountains.

Mary's breath was taken away at the sight of it. She scanned every inch of the moonlit snow. "You made it snow here."

Jack grinned. "Just a little bit. I don't want to drive anyone crazy or insane."

Mary saw the border of the snow and the unfrozen wild life. "This is so cool!" A snowball hit her face.

Jack laughed. "Isn't it?"

Mary wiped the snow off her face, smirking. She picked up some snow and was ready to throw it only to have another snowball hit her shoulder. She threw the snowball and hit Jack's side. He laughed, flying up and threw a snowball at Mary from the air.

Mary wiped off her pants, looking up at Jack. "Well that's just unfair isn't it?"

Jack smiled. "I don't think so. What would be unfair is hiding." He flew out of sight. "I'm really good at that too."

Mary looked around.

Jack laughed. "Don't worry." He came out from behind a tree. "I won't hide from you."

Mary smiled. "Then I guess I have nothing to worry about."

Jack nodded.

Mary looked down at the ground, realizing Jack had made more snowballs for Mary to grab. Mary's eyes widened, smiling at Jack. "Can we make a snow man?"

Jack moved his staff over a few snowballs, forming them together. "Let's get started."

"You look really exhausted." Bree poked the side of Mary's head.

Mary yawned, sitting up. "I am." She straightened out her jacket. "I think it's all the assignments I get from Mr. Grim."

Bee laughed. "That must suck."

Mary nodded. "I can't wait until some time next month."

"Why?"

Mary raised a brow. "Are you joking me? That's when we find out if our school got the award or not."

"Oh." Bree's eyes slightly widened. "I thought Peter told you about..."

Mary leaned close to Bree. "About?"

Bree whispered, "Neverland."

Mary's eyes widened. "Next month?"

Bree nodded grinning. "It's settled."

"You're planning on going during winter break?"

Bree nodded again. "For two days. I don't want to worry my parents, you know?"

Mary nodded slowly.

Bree's smile began to fade. "What's wrong? Do you think this is bad?"

Mary shook her head. "I'm happy for you, really. I just want to make sure you thought this through. I don't want to see 'MISSING' posters and stuff."

Bree laughed. "You won't. I promise." She held out her pinkie.

Mary paused, then smiled. She wrapped her pinkie around Bree's. "It's a promise."

Bree grinned. "You should come over to my house one day, like not at night with Peter and Jack."

Mary nodded. "I will. I thought about it too actually."
