Chapter 16: That Horrible Feeling

Jack snuggled closer to Mary. She felt a lot softer, fuzzier, and denser against his bare chest than she did before he fell asleep. With closed eyes, his brows furrowed as he tried to cup her head and felt pillows instead. "Mary?" He opened his eyes, wiping sand off of them. He gasped. "Mary?!"

Jack instantly removed the covers and looked around the room. "Mary!" He noticed a sticky note on the wall. His eyes narrowed as he walked towards it. His eyes widened when he read:

Don't worry, Jack

- Pitch

As Jack grabbed his hoodie and his staff, he heard a knock on the door. He placed his hoodie on as a woman called out Mary's name. The door swung open and the woman's eyes widened when she saw the empty bed. Jack quickly grabbed the sticky note and placed it upside down in the recycling bin.

"Devan!" The woman called out. "Our daughter is missing!" She ran out the room.

Jack frowned, looking back at the empty bed. His face grew hard and he began to glare. He picked up the sticky note and took off to find Mary. He had to find Pitch's lair.

Bree warmly sat in her seat at the table in front of her parents. She had Peter upstairs in her room without them knowing and she came back with every cent they gave her for the trip they believed she was on. They were having a conversation about True Blood while eating dinner. As much as she wanted to rush upstairs to Peter, she wanted to spend as much time as she could with her parents.

They watched X-men together. They laughed and called certain characters names. After the movie, her parents decided they were going to sleep and Bree then decided she could now spend time with Peter.

Bree's smile faded as she saw Peter with a frown and slightly furrowed brows. He looked from the floor to Bree.

"What's wrong?" She stepped in front of Peter. "Peter?"

"It's that horrible feeling again, the one I felt in Neverland." Peter looked out the window. "It's here too."

Bree looked around her room, trying to feel something strange about her room. Maybe there was a prescence she wasn't seeing or feeling like Peter was.

Peter looked at Bree. "Have you talked to Mary through the phone thing?"

Bree shook her head. "No."

"Can you ask her if Jack has had a horrible feelling too?" Peter moved closer to Bree as she pulled her phone out.

She nodded and called Mary.

"Hello?" Mary's mom answered lowly.

Bree raised a brow. "Hi. Is Mary there?"

"Actually, she's not. I don't know where she is. She's been missing since this morning."

Bree's eyes widened. "Missing? Like gone?"

"Yes. I was hoping that she was with one of her friends."

Bree knew this conversation was now meaningless. She had to get off the phone NOW. "Oh. Well, I'm sure you'll find her. I'll call a few friends and let you know if I find anything."

"Thank you."

"Bye."

"Bye."

She hung up. "Mary's missing!"

Peter stood up. "Let's go. The horrible feeling must have something to do with her!"

Jack continued to fly around the globe, entering shops with a strong, cold wind and even looking under the beds of some children. He took a deep breath and sat on the top of the Eiffel tower, wondering how he would find a way to Pitch's lair. He couldn't manipulate darkness like Pitch. He couldn't exactly enter a shadow.

His eyes narrowed at the ground, and he flew from the Eiffel tower to Notre Dame. He closed his eyes and listened to the church bells ringing.

"Looking for something?"

Jack whirled around and pointed his staff at Pitch. "Where's Mary?"

Pitch grinned. "In my lair of course." He looked out at the distance. "I see that you still haven't found it."

Jack's eyes narrowed at Pitch. "Where is Mary?"

Pitch placed his hands behind his back. "In my lair, underground. All you have to do is find a way there." He grinned and turned away. "Don't take too long. Or else your other friends may be in danger." He stepped into a shadow, appearing near London, and saw Peter and Bree fly over head.

Pitch smiled to himself and followed the couple. He stood behind a tree, watching Peter and Bree land.

Peter paused, placing a hand on Bree's shoulder. "It's here. The horrible feeling is very strong here."

Bree looked around. "Where?"

Peter pulled out his dagger. "I don't really know."

Pitch appeared in front of Peter and Bree. "Well at least you know how to find me." He grinned. "I say Peter you're much more fun than Jack."

Peter narrowed his eyes at Pitch. "Where's Jack?"

Pitch smiled. "Very lost. He's looking for Mary in Paris, just like you and Bree."

Peter flew at Pitch, but Pitch blocked Peter's attack and kicked him back.

Pitch looked down at Peter. "Getting weak?" He smirked. "Getting old already?"

Peter's eyes widened as he stood up. "I'll never get old!"

Pitch let out a small laugh. "But you've already grown ten years older. You're seventeen now, Peter."

Peter narrowed his eyes at Pitch. "I'm not a grown up!" He thrust himself at Pitch, attacking multiple times while Pitch blocked rapidly. Peter and Pitch were now at a hold. Peter struggled to hold his block against Pitch, but Pitch was effortlessly holding his scythe against Peter's dagger.

Pitch grinned. "Too bad you'll have to--" Tinker Bell kicked Pitch's nose.

Bree kicked Pitch down and grabbed his scythe, pointing it at him. "Peter will never grow up!" She glared down at Pitch. "Where's Mary?"

Pitch was breathing heavily looking at his scythe then at Bree. "In my underground lair."

Peter held his dagger against Pitch's neck. "How do we get there?"

Pitch paused, realizing who was holding the dagger against his neck. "You won't kill me."

Bree pressed the scythe onto Pitch's neck. "But I will. How do we get there?"

Tinker Bell flew in front of Pitch's eyes and glared at him.

Pitch's wide eyes slowly turned back to normal. A wicked smiled slowly appeared on his face. "The undergrounds of Paris. That's one way you can enter." He grabbed his scythe and yanked it away from Bree, running to a shadow and stepping into it.

Tinker Bell slammed into the wall of the shadow. She stuck her tongue out at the wall.

Peter laughed lightly. "Thanks for coming, Tink. But what made you want to come?"

Tink flew to Peter and explained herself.

Bree looked around for any sign of Pitch returning, but didn't find any. "I guess we're going to Paris."

Peter nodded. "Yeah, we better find Jack and get there quickly." He took Bree's hand. "To home we go."

"Home?" Bree's eyes widened. "Why home?"

Peter paused, looking back at Bree. "So you'll be safe."

Bree paused. "But I want to help you save Mary."

Peter shook his head. "I don't want you to get hurt."

Bree stepped back. "I want to have adventures with you, Peter. This is one of them."

Peter looked down. Tink flew in front of his face and began talking to Peter. Peter looked at Bree for a long moment. He counted to two in his mind and smiled. "Okay, but you'll need this." Peter handed his dagger to Bree. He kissed Bree's cheek softly. "Use it well."

Bree grinned. "I will."
