Chapter17: Tale As Old As Time
Beast coughed as water poured down his head and tried to continue his explanation, "So I saw her in the ballroom. It looked so nice and beautiful after you all had it cleaned (he gestured towards the servants) and I said we should have a dance tonight... I NEVER IMAGINED SHE'D ACTUALLY SAY YES!"
They all shook their heads with a 'Dude!?' from Sam as the coat rack continued to scrub him clean in the tub.
"The point is," Steve said getting them all quiet, "You're going to tell her how you feel tonight."
Everyone murmured with agreement, "I don't think I can do this."
Lumiere hopped into view, "You don't have time to be timid! You must be bold, daring!"
Beast tried to calm his nerves, "Bold, daring!" He then shook himself and his fur puffed up. He was handed a robe and trudged out of the tub.
Lumiere jumped on the vanity, "Master, there will be music, romantic candle light, provided by myself, and when the moment is right-"
"How will I know the moment is right?"
Vision set a hand on his large shoulder, "You will feel slightly nauseous." He said it so matter-of-factly, he almost believed him.
"You will know because you will feel it," Lumiere taped a candle on his chest over his heart, "In here. Now, Chapeau, will you do the honors?"
The coat hanger stepped up and began to cut and style his hair and makeup. When he finished Lumiere was speechless, "You look so, so-?"
"Stupid." beast grunted at his reflection. White power was all over his face and a wig was somehow on his head.
Bucky shoved Chapeau out of the way, "Ok, were taking over here, this needs a man's touch and a little more- modern look. No offense."
Cogsworth shook his head, "None taken, have at it."
Beast was suddenly regretting his decision as the men surrounded him.
-
In the East Wing, Kate and Garderobe were in a heated argument, "Its the latest style!"
"Where?! In case you haven't noticed, it's the twenty-first freaking century! We are not shoving her into a wig so high that it will get caught on the chandelier, no cupcake skirts, and no," she shuddered, "Corsets."
Garderobe finally gave up arguing with the girl. The other red head I the room stood next to her, "Don't worry Garderobe, we still need you to make the dress. Here, these are some sketches that me and Wanda made." She set the papers on the table in front of her to study. "Wanda, how about you start on hair while I do makeup and Kate can watch Madame."
Wanda then grabbed a brush while Nat sat down in front of Belle, makeup bag in hand, "So, on a scale of one to the world is imploding, how do you feel right now?"
Belle closed her eyes and felt the brush prickle her skin, "Probably somewhere in the middle."
She felt Natasha stop and then, "You know how to dance right? Formal dance?"
Belle opened her eyes, "Of course I know how to dance! It's just I've never done it..."
"With him?" Wanda chimed in.
"We read stories, throw snowballs in each other's faces, but this is a whole new level. I don't know if I'm ready to make that step."
Natasha took her hand, "Honey, I see the way you look at him, and, weather you notice it or not, the way he looks at you. You are more than ready."
Belle closed her eyes again and let the girls finish. Her hair had half up in a bun clasped in gold and the rest down and her makeup was simple nude and gold shades with light pink lipstick. They helped Belle out the finished dress on and it was stunning. Yellow with many layers, thick straps (no corset thank god), and a necklace was gracing her neck.
Kate stared at her, "There's something missing."
Nat and Wanda looked too, "Yeah, needs something, uh-"
"Magical?" Garderobe spoke, "I know just the thing!" She began singing and the gold designs of her room suddenly floated off the walls and delicately laid on her dress.
Belle twirled, to stunned for words, "Its beautiful!"
Just then, Mrs. Potts and Plumette came in, "Oh don't you look ravaging mademoiselle!"
"The ballrooms all set my dear, we just came to let you know."
They all left one by one, Kate giving Belle a long and tight hug before leaving. Belle stood there in the center of her room. If she walked out that door she'd be starting something, something that was intriguing and scary at the same time. But it was her Beast, and she could do anything with him. So she opened the door and began to walk.
-
Belle stood at the top of the staircase. The others waiting at the bottom. Belle fidgeted. Maybe this was a mistake. Maybe he wasn't even coming. But all her doubts subsided when she saw Beast emerge clad in a dark blue suit, more handsome than she'd ever seen. They stared into each other's eyes for a moment, then simultaneously began to walk. They meet at the center and Belle raps her arms around Beast's arm as they make their way towards the ballroom.
Mrs. Potts voice filled the room and everyone's heart's, "Tale as old as time. True as it can be. Barley even friends, then somebody bends, unexpectedly. Just a little change. Small to say the least, both a little scared, neither one prepared. Beauty and the Beast."
Belle and Beast walked into the ballroom, and both froze. The floors shined, gold shone on all the walls, and the chandeliers were of crystal. Belle let go of Beast and stared into those blue irises. She saw the others back against the walls and Lumiere and Cogsworth standing on Maestro as he played.
Belle curtsied and as she came back up her mind raced. Was she really doing this? Could she do this?! But when she looked back at Beast, he had the smallest of smiles, so genuine, and she knew she wouldn't regret any of this.
He bowed forward and Belle held up her hands, which he gladly took as they began their dance.
"Ever just the same. Ever a surprise. Ever as before, ever just as sure, as the sun will rise!"
The music swelled as Beast twirled Belle. Kate leaned on Bucky's shoulder, Wanda and Vision held each other and swayed to the music, while everyone else was in a trance watching what was occurring in front of them.
"Tale as old as time. Tune as old as song. Bittersweet and strange, finding you can change, learning you were wrong."
They moved around the room when Belle felt Beast's paw grip the back of her neck, the other on her waist, as he dipped her. She stared up at him as he pulled her back up and lifted her so she was his height, spinning them around. The world vanished as a realization hit her. It wasn't Belle and Beast who were dancing, it was just him and her, and it felt right.
"Certain as the sun. Rising in the east. Take as old as time. Song as old as rhyme. Beauty and the Beast."
Lumiere lowered the candle light as the two's dancing slowed and Mrs. Potts singing came to a close, "Tale as old as time. Song as old as rhyme. Beauty and the Beast."
Belle and Beast stopped dancing completely. Beast offered his arm, and Belle took it as he led them out towards the balcony.
Everyone else filed out of the ballroom, Mrs. Potts kissing Chip on the cheek, "Let's go, it's past your bedtime." Mrs. Potts ushered Chip towards the kitchen and left him closing his eyes in the cupboard, "Good night love."

Elsewhere, Tony and Rhodes sat back as the quinjet was out on autopilot. "You really think we can find them?"
"I only want to make sure Belle, Vision, and Kate are ok. I could care less if Steve and the others are there. I'll do whatever it takes to find them."
Rhodes nodded and wheeled himself away to leave Tony with his thoughts.
Little do they know not far behind them is a jet filled with soldiers, Ross, and Gaston (LeFou was in the back in the fetal position, he hates heights). Gaston watched through the windshield, sporting the same smirk that has crept over Ross's face.
