Chapter 13: A Chipped Cup

Belle and Vision trudged into Stark Tower, having to leave the compound after the government seized it, and both collapsed on the couch. They found out that the Raft was broken into, and both were happy for their loved ones, but both distressed and unable to move at the thought of never being able to see them again.

Tony was at one of Rhodey's rehabs and still recovering from Siberia.

Having grown tired o the silence, Vision dug out the chessboard he got for his first birthday and set it in front of them.

This wasn't new. Every time either Belle or him had something going on, they'd play chess to either get over it or think it over.

He always let her have black, per her strategy, for she was the only one who's come close to beating him in a game.

Kate came by while he captured her bishop and laid down on the couch, feet on Belle's lap. She was scrolling through Pinterest when she spoke, "Hey, when's Uncle Tony supposed to get back?"

"Don't know." Belle responding using her pawn to catch his knight.

Kate hugged and stood up, "You know what I'm gonna do? I'm gonna bake a cake."

Both players froze and looked up at Kate with concern, "Who are you and what have you done with Kate?"

"I'm serious!"

"But it is not anyone's birthday."

"And honey, you can't cook."

"Hey I resent that!" Kate pointed at both of them, "But you to are as depressed as f-" they glared at her, "fudge. And I can't stand it!" She stormed off for the kitchen, letting the silence come back.

Belle stood, "I think I'll go to my room."

"Shall we resume later?" Vision said gathering the pieces.

"Oh yeah." She walked down the hall until she was far enough away and paused to stare out towards the lake, their spot.

Her eyes teared up as she looked down the dim corridor leading to her room, "Is this home? Is this where I should learn to be happy? Never dreamed, that a home could be dark and cold. I was told, everyday in my childhood, even when we grow old, home will be where the heart is. Never, were words so true. My heart's far, far away. Home is too."

She resumed her course, but never took her eyes off what little light gleamed through the windows, "Is this home? Is this what I should learn to believe in? Try to find, something good in this tragic place? Just in case, I should stay here forever, held in this empty space. Oh, but hat won't be easy! I know, the reason why. My heart's far, far away. Home's a lie."

Belle ran the rest of the way down the hall, but not to her room. She flung the door open and walked into Beast's room, one her used when they came to the tower to help her with her schoolwork, taking in the now deserted space, "What I'd give, to return, to the life that I knew lately! But I know, that I can't, solve my problems going back! Is this home? Am I here for a day or forever? Shut away, from the world who knows when?! Oh but then, as my life has been altered once, it can change again! Build higher walls around me!! Change every lock and key." She sat on the bed and picked up the photo of her and Beast that Natasha took so long ago, "Nothing lasts. Nothing holds all of me."

She hugs the picture to her Chet, "My heart's far, far away. Home and free!"

She came back to the living space in time to see Kate walk out of the kitchen covered in flour, eggs, and who knows what else, "Who's up for pizza?"

Belle sat and leaned next to Vision, and then bolted straight up when she heard a noise. "Did you guys here that?"

"What? My dark and cold heart screaming at my black soul?" Kate said wiping herself clean.

Belle waved it off as casually as possible, "No, not that." She heard it again, clearer this time.

Someone was screaming for help.

Vision's face hardened, "I hear it too."

They both got up and followed the sound with Kate racing after them, "Wait for me!"

They combed throughout the whole compound, only to come outside the door to her room. They opened it and found nothing, until they looked down.

There stood Chip hopping up and down with joy, "Hey guys!"

"Chip?" Belle's eyes went wide, and then softened, "Oh, Chip!" She picked him up and held him against her cheek, "I thought you went to the raft with the others!"

The cup blushed a bright pink against the white of porcelain, "Well, when those men came for us, I kinda ran and hid, then when I went to the compound you weren't there. So, I came here and climbed through your window. I've been yelling for ten minutes."

It was Belle's turn to blush, her singing distracting her from hearing his calls for help.

"So, when are we going to bust mama and the master out?"

Kate cackled, "Ya missed your chance tiny! They already escaped!"

Chip grinned, "Then why are we here?! Let's go see 'em!"

Vision frowned, "We would love to, Chip, but we do not know where they went."

"How about the castle?" They all gave him puzzled looks, "You know, the master's castle? He is a Prince."

Belle raised him at eye level, "We know he's a Prince, Chip, and figured he had a castle. It's just that, we don't have the slightest idea where it is."

"Well I now! I could take you there!"

Belle felt her heart skip a beat, "Really?!"

"Yeah!"

"Well let's go!" They all races out of the hall and down towards the hangar. Belle then turned around to face Kate, "We're sorry but, perhaps you should stay here, and watch over Papa?"

Kate gave them a blank expression, "Let me get this straight: you are going to a castle, that's probably enchanted, in the middle of France, leaving me here to deal with my brother and your dad, and your not even going to bring me back a souvenir?! Hell no! I'm coming with you!"

The siblings looked between each other, then back at Kate. Belle shrugged her shoulders, and with a 'very well' from Vish, they were up in the air and flying towards adventure.
