Our Secret Place (An Adrienette Fanfiction) by Summer Cheng @SummerCheng37)

Once there was a boy, six years old, named Adrien Agreste.

He longed for friends or a best friend. How was he to get one? His house had this big green wooden fence around it.

One day, Adrien heard someone say, "Hi, anyone there?"

To say he was surprised would be an understatement.

"Hi, who are you?" He whispered through the small cracks in the fence.

"It is Marinette Dupain-Cheng, age five. You are?"

"Adrien Agreste is nice to meet you, Marinette!"

From that day on Adrien and Marinette would secretly meet each other at the fence that separated them from one another. They never understood why it stood in the way.

They would take turns talking to one another. Soon, the days turned into weeks, which turned into moths, and finally into years.

Some years later when Marinette was nineteen years old she came to the fence with tears in her eyes. Adrien now twenty years old heard his best friend's sobs. He hates to her sad.

  "Marinette, what is the matter?"

She did not answer right away.

Adrien grew worried.

"Marinette?" He shouted.

"Oh, Adrine it is dreadful. My parents say I am to marry Luka Cuffaine the crowned prince. What do I do?" She was in hysterics by now.

"Marry, Luka but you can't marry him!" Adrien blurted out.

He did not know what his protest came from only that he could not lose her to this Luka fellow.

Not when she was his best friend, not when he looked forward to their daily talks in secret, not when she was the reason e went on living.

"If I refuse I shall be sent away to some boarding school, then forced to marry him."

Adrien felt his heartbreak as he thought of her being made to marry someone else.

"Marinette, they would not dare." He protested.

    "Oh, but they would Adrien!"

"I can't lose you."

"Nor, I you, Adrien. What shall I do?"

"Meet me tomorrow and I shall figure out something!"

True to his word Adrien went to the wall at the time appointed. Marinette was late. She was afraid of what might happen if her parents found out.

"Adrien, are you there?"  Marinette whispered as usual out of sheer terror of someone discovering her missing.

 "Yes, m'lady."

"Adrien, why could not you have been a prince? Perhaps, then I could have married you."

   "Marinette, I love you."

"Adrien, I love you too."

"Marinette, when I say when climb over the fence."

"What?"

"Do you trust me?"

"Yes, but..."

"Then, climb over the fence on the count of three."

Adrien began to count, "one, two, three."

Marinette did as he said and climbed over the fence. Adrien caught her.

Adrien proposed to her. Marinette agreed to marry him. She smiled as he slipped a ring on her finger.  The two ran off together and were secretly married.

    Years later the fighting stopped.

Adrien and Marinette went to the former meeting area. They saw a special hole carved into the wood in the shape of a heart. They smiled as they knew this is where it all began for them.
