Handful - By Lady Filcol

It had been an exhausting day, and Adrien was ready to settle in for the evening. Despite his lack of energy, Marinette nevertheless managed to convince him to go to the grocery store with her. They had already been walking through the aisles for about an hour when Mari found herself unsure what bread was would be the best to buy.

"Your parents own a bakery." Adrien pointed out, a little grumpy, he's shoved his hands into his pockets.

"Yes, but they're closed for the night. I also need bread to make dinner tonight." Marinette explained.

"Why didn't you make it yourself? It's always good when you make it." The blonde's mouth began to water as he thought about the bread and how the smell of it would always engulf their apartment. Mari's bread was the best!

"It wouldn't be done in time for me to make dinner. Now, why don't you go over there and pick some cheese? We're running low." Adrien couldn't imagine why. Following his wife's instructions, Adrien made his way over to the cooler shelves just across from where he and Mari stood.

"Ooooo! The sweet goodness! How do we choose?!" Plagg squealed as he suddenly poked out from behind his master's white jacket, on the right side. Adrien removed his left hand from his pocket and leaned over slightly to reach down and pick up a pack of cheese. Plagg leaned out and took a long way sniff of the pack.

"Plagg!? Seriously? Does it really matter? It's not for you." Adrien huffed at the feline. Plagg crossed his arms.

"Well, if it wasn't for me, you wouldn't have realized Marinette was your lady." The kwami puffed. Adrien rolled his eyes and turned his attention back to the package. He thought for a moment.

"If you behave for the rest of the evening, I'll let you pick some for yourself. Deal?" Mister Agreste offered. Plagg opened an eye and gazed at the man. He swiftly turned excitedly back to the cheeses, rambling about each option.

"Plagg?" The cat turned back to Adrien, a pack of cheese in his paws. Adrien arched a brow.

"Fine." Plagg grumbled, his shoulders dropping. Adrien motioned with his hand for the cat to have at it. The kwami seized his opportunity. Ever since Adrien had moved out and married Marinette, he had not been wealthy. Which never bothered him or Marinette. Plagg however was. The little cat now had to make do with whatever cheese the Agreste's had in their fridge. Camembert was too expensive for the couple, at least for now. Plagg continued pondering over the cheese. Adrien turned to look over his shoulder at his wife, who appeared to have finally concluded on which she was going to purchase. Setting the bread in her cart she looked across the way at her husband. Adrien quickly understood that she was now waiting on him. He turned back to his kwami, still obsessed and unsure of which cheese he wanted.

"Alright come on Plagg. Mari is ready to go." Adrien urged trying to get his buddy to make a decision.

" I just can't decide! They're all so good! Not as good as Camembert, but good. Mm, lovely cheddar, delicious mozzarella, scrumptious white cheddar. How could I possibly choose?" Plagg exclaimed licking his lips as he held up each cheese.

"Well, you are going to have to Plagg." Adrien tried to remain relaxed, but the longer the black cat hesitated, the more tired and impatient he became. Finally, with a frustrated sigh, Adrien scooped up a handful of packages and made his way back across the aisle. Plagg, surprised, dashed back into Adrien's jacket. Marinette watched as her husband dumped multiple packs of cheese into the cart. She gazed at him curiously.

"Don't ask." He replied holding up his right hand. They finished their errand and went home.

Later that evening, Adrien sat on the couch in their living room the lights off, a movie playing. Marinette had fallen asleep beside him, her head testing against his right leg. Tikki also asleep, curled up just behind Mari's elbow on the pink blanket that he had strapped over his lady before pressing play on the movie. Plagg sat on Adrien's head, cheerfully wolfing down the store bought cheese.

"You haven't held up your end of the bargain Plagg." Adrien pressed his dear friend. Plagg stopped himself from shoving another piece into his mouth to answer.

"You didn't let me choose."

"I still got your cheese." Adrien remarked.

"That wasn't the deal." Plagg pushed back before throwing another triangle into his tiny mouth.

"It was only a handful." Plagg went on, dramatically.

"You're a handful." Adrien shot back before returning to the movie.

"I know." Plagg replied. Adrien couldn't help but smile. As much as the cat drove him crazy, he still loved him. The young man reached up and gave him a few gentle pats.

"Love ya, buddy."

"Love you too Adrien." Plagg squealed as his chin began to lean into Adrien's fingers. Before long the room was filled with only the sounds of the movie and Plagg's purr. Today had been a good day.
