CatBug - By Lady Filcol
Chat couldn't help it. It was just too cute! The way the black fur blew in the wind and the adorable eyes that sparkled, begging him to bring him home. Adrien had always wanted a cat, not that Plagg wasn't sufficient; he was magic after all, but a real kitten. One that would meow and bother a person in the least convenient of moments. A furry friend that would lay on his keyboard or his assignments. Though if he asked, he was sure Plagg would do it, just to drive him nuts.
Ladybug didn't have time for this. They were supposed to be patrolling not, sitting on a random rooftop with a stray kitten.
"Come on Chat Noir; we have work to do." She reminded her partner, clear annoyance present in her voice.
"We can't just leave him here!" Chat shrieked, still on his knees before the kitten.
"I wonder how he got up her anyway." Ladybug glanced around for an explanation, but to no avail. She turned back to her partner and his mini look a like. The heroine began to think, she knew her partner wasn't going to leave the poor thing, and quite frankly she didn't like the idea of that either. Putting her finger to her lip, she questioned for Chat's opinion and ideas.
"Do you know anyone that would be able to take him in, even if it's just until we are done with patrolling?" Chat scooped up the kitten and held it against his shoulder as he stood up again. He approached Ladybug and transferred the tiny feline to the arms of his lady.
"I have someone in mind, but let me check with them first. I'll send you the coordinates if they agree." Before Ladybug could protest, Chat zipped off. She was left alone, with a little green-eyed black kitten.
"I have to admit, you're too cute for your own good. Even cuter than Chat. Don't tell him I said that." Ladybug joyfully spilled to the little cat. Meanwhile, Chat was sprinting home. He knew that his father probably wouldn't let him keep it, but maybe if he kept it a secret...
I just want to keep little Catbug. Did I just name it? I mean M'Lady and I did find him together. I think it fits.
Landing on a roof across the street from the Agreste's mansion and sent his lady a text. Unbeknownst to him, at the same moment, Ladybug was holding the kitten up to her face rubbing noses. When her yo-yo sounded with a notification, she relocated the kitty on her shoulder to pull it out.
"Bring Catbug to the Agreste mansion. On behalf of doing this for us, I agreed to run to the store and purchase some things so Adrien will have the supplies to take care of him. Enter through Adrien's window. He knows you're coming. I'll meet with you later. ...... Seriously?" Ladybug read aloud before commenting on her partner's choice. OKAY, she thought to herself before swinging off, holding the cat tightly as she went. Chat Noir ran across the street and used his baton to shoot up to his bathroom window. He entered and detransformed.
"That thing isn't going to be staying with us, will it?! If so, I'm not sharing my cheese!" The kwami crossed his arms.
"That won't be necessary Plagg." Adrien said strolling to the bathroom door. When he noticed Ladybug land on his windowsill he ducked behind the door. " Hide Plagg!" Adrien opened his jacket and his swami quickly dashed inside. With the magical cat safely tucked away, it was time to get the cue one from Ladybug. Confidently, the boy walked out of the doorway into the main area of his bedroom and up to his crush.
"Here you are. Think you can take care of him for an hour?" The girl asked, trying her best to remain calm in front of the model. Adrien took the black fluff ball into his arms carefully.
"Yeah. Chat Noir said he'd come get him after." Adrien stated, trying to protect his identity. He really hadn't thought this one through.
"Oh by the way, Chat seems to have decided to name him Catbug, for some reason. Feel free to change it." Ladybug puffed with a flick of her wrist as she turned to leave.
"Nah, I lie it. See you later. Have fun.' Adrien replied beginning to stroke the frizzy black fur. This poor thing needed a bath. With a smile and a wave, the young woman made her exit. Once she was gone, Adrien made his way over to his bed, Plagg looming over his shoulder. The boy gently lowered Catbug onto his bed. The dark blue comforter wrinkling under the feline. " You wait here buddy." With that Adrien transformed again and went out to join his lady on patrol. "M'lady." Chat greeted when he dramatically landed on on the rotor beside her.
"Catbug? Really Chat?"
"What?!" Don't tell me you don't like it." he teased. Ladybug only rolled her eyes.
"Come on.' About an hour later, with no activity, Ladybug and Chat Noir stood heroically on another roof.
"I'll be back M'lady. Got to pick up Catbug." Chat informed his partner before rushing home. When he returned again, Ladybug only took note of the goofy smile on Chat's face. Chat held Catbug out toward her. Draped over the cat's back was a red polka-dot cape. "Now he's REALLY Catbug!" Chat squealed, unable to hide his enjoyment and fan boying any longer. Ladybug had to admit again, that this was pretty cute.
"So, what are we going to do with him? Neither of us can take him. If either of our civilian selves sees him, then we jeopardize our identities." The spotted girl pointed out., That was true, and Chat was glad she pointed it out.
"We could just leave him with Adrien. The boy was kinda sad when I picked him up." Chat explained, fully aware of how smart the tactic was, and selfish. Though who could blame him? Catbug was adorable.
"Will Gabriel Agreste allow him to do that?" Marinette knew that Mr. Agreste was kind of a cold man, and didn't know how he'd react to seeing his son with a pet.
"It'll be fine. I'll personally check in, so you won't have to. Don't worry M'lady." Chat mentioned trying to get the girl off his tail.
"Alright." Ladybug complied.
"I'll take him back then. You head on home and get some rest. Since Hawkmoth didn't strike today, it's likely, he'll strike tomorrow." With a bow, Chat went home with Catbug. This kitty was causing him to avoid his lady, which wasn't pleasant, but at least it was only when he was protecting his identity. Once he was home, hat retransformed and settled on his bed, flopping back tiredly. Thankfully, his schedule was light tomorrow so he would have time to set-up some space for Catbug and purchase the items he needed. Plagg settled into his usual space on Adrien's pillow. The teen laid back and pulled up his covers. He was too tired to change into his pajamas. " Goodnight Plagg." Adrien whispered petting his friend for a moment. That's when Catbug jumped up on Adrien's bed. The kitten walked over the sheets up to the boy and flooded down in the shape of Adrien's body, fitting perfectly against him. " Night Catbug." Adrien said to the other black cat, petting him as well. Who knew that three black cats could fit so neatly on one bed. The next afternoon, Adrien, Nino, Alya, and Marinette gathered in Adrien's room. The young Agreste had invited his friends over to help him set-up Catbug's things. It was harder than expected, however. The cate was too cute and easily distraction. At one point, Adrien had to stop and move Catbug away from Plagg's camembert closet.
That was too close for the kwami's comfort. Finally finished, the group had time to sit together and pet the kitten.
"He's so cute Adrien! I can't believe Chat Noir and Ladybug personally asked you to look after him." Alya exclaimed recording video of Catbug as he brushed himself along the model's arm.
"How are you going to keep the cat hair off your things dude?" Nino asked with a laugh.
"I don't know." Adrien chuckled, stroking his hand along the cat's back. "Oh! One sec." The blonde suddenly stood up and ran over to his bed, snatching up the red pot-dot cape."Isn't it cute?!" Adrien tied the garment on the feline.
"All he needs is a collar now." Alya pointed out.
"I could make one." Marinette offered. It was nice to see Arien so happy. She was happy to see him happy and to still be able to see Catbug. Just then Catbug brushed up against Mari.
'He likes you," Adrien spoke with a smile. Giving in, Mari began to stroke the little cat.
"You're going to give me away." Mari teased as her hand ran along the cat's tail.
"Give what away?" Nino questioned with a tip of his hat.
"Oh... that... that... I... I'm a cat person. Yeah." Marinette stuttered trying to cover up her identity. Her friends merely laughed. It was clear that the four were going to have a lot of fun with Catbug around. Both Adrien and Mari were glad that they rescued him last night, even if they didn't realize that they had done so together.
