Tears filled your eyes as you forcefully grabbed a large bag and packed your things. The whole scene kept replaying in your mind. At this point, you only had two goals. 1, to get the hell out of there and 2, to actually do something with your life. Whether it be getting a job, finding a new place to live, or doing something useful with your time.
Why were you running away? Here's the scoop: you were experimenting on something in your shitty excuse of a lab in your room. But, something went wrong and it blew up. You had critical burns on your arms, hands, and face. There's no doubt that a majority of it will leave a scar. Your family lost it with you because the explosion started a fire. The damage wasn't all that bad. But your parents were more concerned about the damage to their house than to your body. They never believed in you. Not for a second. Sure, you messed up a bit. But you would learn from your mistakes and try again. You never gave up.
But today you did. Not on your experimenting; on your family. Your younger brother wanted nothing to do with you. He was 13, turning 14 soon. You were 18. You were able to drive, but your parents were too selfish to buy a car for you. "How about you just build one?" Your father mocked. Your mother would laugh and say you'd end up killing yourself if you did that.
You didn't want your parents to catch you. As soon as you finished packing your bag, they bursted through your door. Both of their faces flooded with rage and disappointment. "get..out.." your mother spoke in a low tone. "what did you think I was doing." You retorted with a numb facial expression. You pushed past your parents and headed for the door. As soon as you opened it, you were yanked back by your father. "Don't you think about coming back to this household ever again." He hissed. "You're a disgrace to this family. Everything you've done was nothing but trouble. A waste of time, space, and our money." Your mother's tone was laced with venom. You looked back at her with a stone cold expression. "You just wait. You'll see that I was right about every--" Your father shoved you at full force out the door causing you to fall down the front steps. "You were never right about anything, (Y/n). Nothing. at all." Ending with that, he slammed the door leaving you alone.
Joke's on him. You stole all the money in his wallet after you fought and all the money in your mother's wallet. Why do they carry so much with them? You even had money from your old job and birthday money. In total, that was a little over $1500

You've been walking for two days straight going God knows where. You were carrying a huge camping bag on your back for all that time. You felt so sore and you were really hungry. You couldn't waste your money though, you had to save it incase you could buy a plane ticket and go to the unknown.
A few kind strangers gave you bottles of water and some food. Around 2:00 on Wednesday, you sat down at a curb to take a break. You groaned in relief when the bag slid off your shoulders into the grass. You stared at the sky seeing it was pretty cloudy. "I hope it doesn't rain.." you mumbled to yourself. You felt your eyelids getting heavier by the second. Before you even realized it, you were out like a light.
Morty's POV
"I can't wait to just be home already" my thoughts wandered as I was walking home from the bus stop. "But I have a lot of-- oh crap!!" I jumped back startled at what I saw. There was a girl, a really beat up one at that. She looked older than I did and she has a huge bag laying next to her. There's no way she came from school or work with that. Luckily, my house was right across the street from where I was. I bolted inside, dropped my bag, and got my mom's attention. "M-M-Mom!! Th-there's someone outside!! She--sh-she's passed out near the curb a-and she's hurt!" I began to worry and ramble on. "I-I think she ran f-from home!"
3rd POV
Beth's eyes widened. "We can't just leave her there! There's gonna be a thunderstorm!" Beth ran around the house looking for her husband, Jerry. "JERRY?! GET YOUR ASS IN HERE WE NEED HELP!" She paused for a second. "BRING SUMMER WITH YOU."
In no time, Beth, Summer, JeRrY, and Morty were running out to the curb. "Holy crap how much stuff does she need?" Beth smacked the back of Jerry's head for asking that question. "Shut up Jerry. Pick up her bag and bring it inside." Beth started to sling (Y/n)'s arm over her shoulder and Summer helped. Morty helped JeRrY carry the bag into the house.
It was 10:00 at night when you woke up. The first thing you heard was thunder and you immediately freaked out about your stuff being ruined. When you actually woke up, you noticed your surroundings. You were on the couch in a cozy house and your bag was next to you on the ground. You wanted to get up and thank whoever brought you in here. As soon as you stood up, you crashed back to the floor. Your legs felt like jelly. Beth ran into the room from the kitchen because she heard you fall. "Oh my god you're awake!! Are you okay?!" You began to freak out, speechless, and backed up against the wall. Summer and Morty came down from upstairs and peeked from the stairwell. Beth kneeled in front of you and gave you a reassuring look. "It's okay, sweetie, I'm just trying to help you." You caught your breath and carefully took the outstretched hand that was in front of you.
You almost fell again, not being able to feel your body. "Oh god are you alright?" Beth sat you down on the couch and rubbed your shoulder. "..M-my body feels n-numb.." Beth took a good look at your face. "What happened there? You can't leave it opened like that, it'll get infected." Concern washed over both of you. You forgot about the burns on you. You didn't even bother to look in a mirror! You could see the burns on your arms and hands. They looked fleshy and they stung like Satan's homemade salsa. You muttered that you had to go to the bathroom and attempted to quickly leave the room.
You locked the door and teared up looking at your reflection. "Oh my god.." you barely whispered. I look like a freak thanks to my goddamn screw-up self." You couldn't cry. Not now. You caused enough trouble for this family, you don't want to cause more.
---time skip---
You explained what happened with your injuries and why you were there. You ended up crying a little bit while telling your story. The tears that fell from your eyes made you flinch when they hit the burns on your face. "Um, shouldn't Rick have something, to like, fix her..injuries?" Summer wasn't trying to upset (Y/n), but she was secretly disgusted by the burns on her face. Jerry was staring and being the Jerry that he is, a fucking idiot. "That's a great idea, Summer! Morty, take (Y/n) into the garage." You started to become nervous as questions darted though your head. Who the hell is Rick? What're they going to do to me? What in God's name is gonna be in the garage? I..hope this doesn't hurt..
Morty knocked on the door to the garage and opened it. "Uhh..R-Rick?" "W-whaT the h*burp*EELLL do you want Morty?" You stepped back unsure if this was a good idea or not. Morty held your uninjured arm so you don't end up slipping away from him. "W-We need your help R-Rick." Morty gently pulled you into the garage with him and closed the door. "Okay then-- J-JE*BURP*ESUS CHRIST." Rick stood up and stumbled back not thinking he would see an unknown face. "I-..I think I should go." You mumbled and reached for the doorknob. "N-No! No stay here! We can help you!" Morty's grip on your arm got a little tighter as he begged you to stay. Sighing in response, you forfeited and stayed.
"I-I assume you need uh help with that burn on your--on your f*burp*ace." You slowly nodded and looked down. Rick pulled out a chair for you to sit in and he looked around on his shelves. "It's going to be okay! R-Rick's a smart guy h-he's gonna help you." "Yes! G-goT *burp* it! Now this may o-o-or may not cause intense pa*burp*A-- pain. But I know damn well that there will be uhh a scar of *burp* some sort." The drunken scientist pulled a chair in front of you, sat down, and took your injured arm. "Sheesh, kid, how the hell are these burns so b-bad? Wh*burp*AT happened?" "I was experimenting and I..uh..mixed the wrong chemicals. They blew up almost immediately and started a small fire in my room." "ChemicaL *buRp* burns? Ah j-jeez. The scar shouldn't be too uh-- too bad."
Rick opened the small container he found and there was a gooey substance inside. "Tr*burp*YY not to move a lot." Morty's eyes widened knowing what that stuff is. "Y-you can hold my hand. O-o-Only if you need to!!!" Morty stumbled on words making an idiot of himself. You nodded in response feeling really nervous about this. "And awaaay we go!" Rick smeared a thick layer of the substance over your arm and you felt fine. Then it started to bubble and a searing pain shot through your arm. Grabbing on to Morty's hand for dear life, you tried not to scream. You took shaky breaths and little whimpers came out. "Th-this feels worse than when it actually h-happened!!!" There was a concentrated expression on Rick's face and a pitiful one on Morty's. "J-juST a little while longer." Rick stated. Morty held (Y/n)'s hand with both of his and prepared what he was going to say.
"It's gonna get a whole lot worse, (Y/n).. I'm sorry." You looked at Morty terrified, then you felt it. The substance started to dissolve into your arm but it felt like you were getting stabbed and ripped apart at the same time. This was your breaking point. Rick had to hold your arm down on the table because it was uncontrollably twitching like mad. You screamed into your lap barely able to take the pain. Beth, JeRrY, and Summer bursted into the garage afraid of what was happening. "Grampa Rick!! What're you doing to (Y/n) why are you hurting her?!" "Just--j-just shut up Summer!!" Rick shouted at his granddaughter. "(Y/n) it's going to be okay..!" Morty tried telling you with tears pricking his eyes. He hated seeing people hurt. Jerry saw your bubbly arm and ran out of the room to throw up. What a pussy. Beth rushed by your side and put her hand on your shoulder. Just like that, the pain stopped. You peeked up at your arm and wiped your eyes.
"Is it over..?" You mumbled. You looked at your arm and there was discoloration where the burn was, a scar. It was noticeable, but it was completely healed! That's all that mattered to you. "That went better than I tho*bURP*UGHT! Y-you did better than Morty. He sobbed like a--*buUURP* like a little bitch." Rick joked. "Ah jeez, Rick!" Morty became flustered. You looked at Morty and laughed. "It's alright Morty. Some people are more sensitive than others." You told him with a weak smile. "Yeah but Mo*buRP*Orty's just a little bitch."
Beth, ignoring the comment about Morty, asked Rick what he put on (Y/n)'s arm. "That, B-Beth, is a healing serum from another dim*bUrP*ENsion. I got it to--to help with blast wounds." Beth nodded. "But is it safe to put on her face? It's from some weird alien planet, dad." Rick stared at the burns on your face asking himself the same thing. "Shit. The wound is deeper than the burns on her arm." Rick thought. "O-okay uhh (Y/n), right?? Well *burp* d-does your arm feel fine??" Rick asked stalling for a little more time. You gently ran your hand over the scar. "Only if I touch it." You replied flatly.
Rick made you sit on the ground against the wall so you'd have nowhere to fall. Rick also told Beth and Morty to hold your arms down because even he knew this one would be even worse. "Guys I-I don't want to do this.." you nervously said wriggling on the ground. "We-We're sorry, (Y/n) l-look we don't wanna do this either. Y'see, Rick. He--h-he isn't usually like this a-and--and he wouldn't r-really do this for..well, anyone." Morty explained. "That's right Morty*buRP*YYY not even you, ya--ya little sonnofa bitch." You laughed a little bit knowing that he was just teasing him. "ah jeez..well-- we don't know you that well yet, but you--you seem like a-an okay person! And--and it sucks to see someone in a lotta pain like this, yknow?? We're worried about you, even Rick. W-we just wanna help you.." You looked around the room lost for words. All you could choke out was a small 'thank you'.
Rick kneeled in front of you with a glop of that demon-like healing serum ready to smear on your face. "You ready?" Rick asked with concern laced in his voice. You took a deep breath after nodding your head yes. "Here goes nothin"
-3 days later-
Somehow, Jerry managed to enroll you in Harry Herpson High School. Your first day there would be tomorrow and you weren't too excited for it. Your schedule was really confusing since you had a bunch of mixed up classes. That'll be fun.
Your injuries are now 100% healed and the only thing left behind was some scarring. It was noticeable, but could easily be covered up with makeup. You hugged Rick and thanked him a million times for helping you out. He would just laugh and tell you not to worry about it since he'd always be there to help you out, even if he was being a dick sometimes.
Every day, ever since the Smiths let you stay with them, you'd hug everyone and thank them in a big group hug. Except Jerry. He wasn't allowed in the group hug. Fuck you, Jerry. "Hey! Why can't I be in the hug?" Jerry complained. "The day you get a job is the day I'll consider giving you a gold star." You stated sarcastically. Jerry lit up with happiness and ran up to his room squealing. "Yep, you're gonna fit in re*bUURP*AALLY well here, (Y/n)."
Beth hugged you and moved your (h/c) hair out of your face. A few seconds later, Morty decided to join in, then Summer, and finally, Rick.
"Welcome home, (Y/n)."
